If climate change is a hoax, then why are we buying more ice breakers? And why do we want to buy Greenland? Why this accelerating interest in the arctic? Is it just because there are natural resources up there, and the arctic has strategic military value? I mean, yes, those things are true, and they are part of the motivation. But as far as I know, the oil, the natural gas and the Russians have all been up there for a loooong time. Something must be changing, that we suddenly are focusing on the arctic. What could it be? What .... could ... it be ...???

...

Eyeing Arctic dominance, Trump bill earmarks $8.6 billion for US Coast Guard icebreakers

"President Donald Trump's massive tax and spending bill earmarks more than $8.6 billion to increase the U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker fleet in the Arctic, where Washington hopes to counter rising Russian and Chinese dominance.

The funding includes $4.3 billion for up to three new heavy Coast Guard Polar Security Cutters, $3.5 billion for medium Arctic Security Cutters, and $816 million for procurement of additional light and medium icebreaking cutters."

    Navy,

You've never acknowledged where you go for "news," though I've aksed several times.

    Truth:

Very few people doubt that the planet is warming, though just t'other day, Joe Rogan pointed out that it hasn't risen in the most recent years.

What people do argue is that human activity is the cause of global warming. Now, I'm not po. I'm not a Nobel Prize winning scientist, and this is a tad beyond me.

But, I remain unconvinced that humans cause global warming. And, that's the issue.

  2. by Ponderer on July 5, 2025 7:41 am

You would think that this orange megalomaniac actually wants to eventually conquer and take over the world.

But no. That couldn't possibly be anything he's seriously thinking about. I mean... right...?

  3. by HatetheSwamp on July 5, 2025 8:15 am

    po,

I despise Trump as much as a sane person can, but you're not only deranged, you're detached from reality.

The Iran, Israel tussle stopped, for now, and Hamas and the filthy pig Jew Satan may be moving toward a resolution.

    You're crazy!

Not surprised Brown Shorts gets his news (mostly) from Fox but also from a vlogger who's taken a ton of hits to the heads while UFC fighting as well.

    Global Temperature
    LATEST ANNUAL AVERAGE ANOMALY: 2024
    1.28 °C 2.3 °F

    Key Takeaway:
The 10 most recent years are the warmest years on record.

This graph shows the change in global surface temperature compared to the long-term average from 1951 to 1980. Earth’s average surface temperature in 2024 was the warmest on record since recordkeeping began in 1880 (source: NASA/GISS). NASA’s analysis generally matches independent analyses prepared by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other research groups. Overall, Earth was about 2.65 degrees Fahrenheit (or about 1.47 degrees Celsius) warmer in 2024 than in the late 19th-century (1850-1900) preindustrial average. The 10 most recent years are the warmest on record.

The animation on the right shows the change in global surface temperatures. Dark blue shows areas cooler than average. Dark red shows areas warmer than average. Short-term variations are smoothed out using a 5-year running average to make trends more visible in this map.

The data shown are the latest available, updated annually.

You can see the graph here in my (Queen Welfare - pay attention) source below...

That is just another proof that you are an idiot. Every climate scientist in the world says that it is entirely anthropogenic. In fact, the Earth should be slowly cooling as it heads to the next glaciation. As it is, there will be no more glaciations. It has ended the 2.5 million-year glaciation age.

The temperature now is higher than at any time in the last 800,ooo years - the opposite direction to where it should be and not far from the hottest in over three million years, the whole period of any humanoid existence. When it reaches that level, the human race will be extinct as it will have long passed the range tolerable for humans.

The cause is the burning of fossil fuels, plus agricultural and a few other minor ingredients. Of that there can be no doubt as science has excluded any other possible cause.

" Take a look at an IPCC report. The conclusions of the totality of researching climate scientists. Also, there have been about 25,000 peer-reviewed climate papers since the year 2000 and not a single one that dissents from the fact of AGW. Back as far as 1958 was the first study by Wally B??? ( his name escaped me). Esso's own scientists researched it in the 19770's and concluded just the same as today's scientists have. They also informed the executives who buries the finding. There has been hardly any dissent from the start.

The knowledge that it would happen goes back to Fourier in 1824. Callender in the 1930s and tw or three others long before it happened.

Every car on the road puts out approximately a half pound of carbon dioxide for every mile driven (.47 lbs). If we use the conservative estimate for miles driven in a year (around 12,000 miles) that equals about 4.6 metric tons of CO2 per year per vehicle. The US transportation sector accounts for over a quarter of the greenhouse gas emmissions per year. That doesn't include methane, nitrous oxide and hydroflourocarbons. That's ONE CAR.

That - all by itself - tells us we are the ones creating the problem. It doesn't disappear by magic - it's in the air.

You guys are so cute. Citing authorities who also told us, 30 years ago, that Miami will be under water in ten years.

This is a core value of people, Lead. The idea is to tell a lie and make the lie big. Tell the lie a lot, and it will become truth (Joseph Goebbels, the left's prophet). I'm going to call it (CPS). See how yes, it's a psychosis, and it's brought on by fantasies and false beliefs about the earth falling apart and everyone dying in 12 years. Said 25 years ago.... Much akin to TPS,

  12. by islander on July 6, 2025 5:28 am

    You guys are wasting your time arguing over climate change with who doesn’t understand the solid basic scientific principles involved. Take any one of those principles and let them try to show that it’s false, example;

Take greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, Meththane, Nitrous oxide for instance.

They contribute to whats called The greenhouse effect, where gases absorb and re-emit heat energy. They maintains Earth’s temperature and support life.

Adding more greenhouse gases traps more heat, causing warming. Hard evidence shows human activities, especially burning fossil fuels, have increased these gases since the Industrial Revolution (around 1750).

Emissions. Deforestation, agriculture, and industrial processes also contribute to this. The Mauna Loa Observatory and ice core analysis from Antarctica confirm a steady increase since the mid-20th century.
Unprecedented in the last 800,000 years.

Other than saying they don't believe any of this, can they explain why greenhouses gasses don't or can't trap heat and/or that we have not been dumping more and more of these gases into the very thin atmosphere surrounding our planet.

"You guys are wasting your time arguing over climate change with who doesn’t understand...

    Ah, yes. UNDERSTAND man.

Ole pb ain't arguing that the planet's temperature ain't raising. But, he's been around long enough to remember numerous predictions by climate activists, even scientists, that have been disastrous failures.

pb UNDERSTANDs that it's possible that you don't know as much as you think.

  14. by islander on July 6, 2025 6:16 am

Sounds to me like you're unable to refute what I posted.

Simply give us your understanding of the evidence I presented and tell me why it's false.

  15. by HatetheSwamp on July 6, 2025 6:33 am

I absolutely am unable to refute it. But, you've also come miles short of convincing me.

  16. by Donna on July 6, 2025 7:08 am

    Valiant attempt, Navy.

US Americans without a doubt are the most scientifically ignorant people in the developed world.

  17. by HatetheSwamp on July 6, 2025 7:20 am

Except that Navy's first sentence reveals the strawman. "If climate change is a hoax,..."

The truth is that very few people argue that the climate is not changing. In fact, science makes it clear, the climate has always in dynamic condition of change.

What's at question these days is the extent to which humanity is causing, or impacting, what's always take place.

No, but you do post here to offer arguments pb can't "refute." Seems sort of the same.

Idiot: "You've never acknowledged where you go for "news," though I've aksed several times"

Not only is that a lie — I've stated that I use news aggregate sites like Yahoo and then just follow the link, so my answer is "A lot of different sources", and I also have a subscription to Reuters — but the number of times that you've tucked your tail and ran from my questions makes your demand laughable.

Idiot: "Except that Navy's first sentence reveals the strawman. "If climate change is a hoax,..." The truth is that very few people argue that the climate is not changing.

My post is about Trump ordering new icebreakers for the arctic. And Trump has, in fact, said that climate change is a hoax.

"The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive." — Donald Trump

"Ice storm rolls from Texas to Tennessee - I'm in Los Angeles and it's freezing. Global warming is a total, and very expensive, hoax!" — Donald Trump

"NBC News just called it the great freeze - coldest weather in years. Is our country still spending money on the GLOBAL WARMING HOAX?" — Donald Trump

"Snowing in Texas and Louisiana, record setting freezing temperatures throughout the country and beyond. Global warming is an expensive hoax!" — Donald Trump

"Give me clean, beautiful and healthy air - not the same old climate change (global warming) bullshit! I am tired of hearing this nonsense." — Donald Trump

Idiot: "In fact, science makes it clear, the climate has always in dynamic condition of change."

I"m also including a link to a Forbes article where Trump goes through the same "the weather is always changing" argument that Our Resident Idiot tries to make.

  23. by HatetheSwamp on July 6, 2025 12:24 pm

Trump saying climate change is a hoax. Baha. Besides this one, when was the last time you took what Trump said seriously.

    Seriously.

This is a classic "seriously but not literally" thing.

Seriously, not literally': how should the world take Donald Trump?

" But, he's been around long enough to remember numerous predictions by climate activists, even scientists, that have been disastrous failures."

There have been no predictions by scientists that have been failures, disastrous or otherwise. The reality is that scientists are inherently cautious, Things are worse than the projections - they don't make predictions.

The climate is not always in a state of climate change. Climate changes are rare, and it is remarkably stable. Many thousands of years fall between changes: often millions. They will fluctuate in an interglacial period by no more than a couple of degrees. Temperatures now are only 5C above a deep glaciation. .5 C below the pre-industrial level was the so-called Little Ice age.

  25. by Indy! on July 6, 2025 3:59 pm

Fox said it, so it must be true. (imagine that in the sarcasm font).
