Joe's going to be blasted on this and, much as I'm critical of "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap," these are unprecedented economic times. What's going on is no one's fault. This is a function of the way Covid tied the economy in a series of knots that the best sailor couldn't untie.

Now, honestly, Joe's been in charge for pret'near nine months and his team certainly hasn't done anything to ameliorate problems with the economy. If anyone can be blamed, it's Joe.

Where Joe fails is as a leader. Polls make it clear that people think less and less of him by the day. He's way under water on handling the economy.

And, according to the latest Q poll, he's under water on competence. More and more, people are convinced that he's not up to the job.

When he speaks, it seems to me that he comes across as a curmudgeon... behavior typical among men, especially, suffering from dementia. His demeanor doesn't draw people to him. It's abrasive and offensive to many.

Early on, he came across as charmingly cranky, a few bricks short of a full load, Uncle Joe from Petticoat Junction. But, no more. Now he's just that nasty old neighbor sitting on his front porch screaming, GET OFF MY LAWN!

That behavior won't provide leadership in a weak economy.

If your party supported the infrastructure bill, tens of thousands more jobs would be created.

I am so sick to death of Republicans who ignore that their party is wantonly responsible, decade after decade, for keeping the American people from getting what they need... and instead blame it on the Democrats for not being able to keep them from doing it.

I am seeing something on local TV which I've never seen before. Last night for example on the 11 p.m. news I saw a 30-second spot from a local carpet company, a home care service and a grocery store not selling their products and services but instead advertising "help wanted".

  4. by Ponderer on October 8, 2021 9:32 am

Home care service providers are notoriously underpaid. Not sure about carpet store employees.

Wanna increase employment in the U.S.? Raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hr.

Supply and demand seem to be addressing the wage issue.

The local grocery store, Market of Choice it is called, is advertising starting wage of $14 and $18 per hour with a benefits package. The home care service is also offered advertising a benefits package including health care.

The very curious thing is that there are a mountain of jobs available that are going unfilled.

And, Joe's da man. It's up to him to get people to answer the Want Ads.

"And, Joe's da man. It's up to him to get people to answer the Want Ads." -Hate

    By doing... what, precisely...?

So the right is all freaked out about being made to wear a mask during a virulent pandemic... but it would be okay for a president to force people to take jobs they don't want or that won't pay them enough to live off of?

I swear, if you ever made a lick of sense, I'd faint from the shock.

I love how Republicans fully support their presidents while they absolutely destroy the economy during their presidencies, and then berate the Democrat, who is handed the total chaos in the next election, for not fixing what the GOP did fast enough.

You boundlessly hypocritical assholes disgust me.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on October 8, 2021 11:28 am

    po,

"That feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" presented himself as competent to fulfill the duties of President. And, some people were Trumpaphobic enough to actually vote for him.

  10. by Ponderer on October 8, 2021 4:37 pm

Jesus Christ, Hate. He is competent enough to fulfill the duties of president.

Just because he makes decisions that you don't like, or doesn't make decisions that you would like, doesn't mean he's not competent to do the job.

(And he thinks I'm the one here who believes they center the universe.)
