Habeas corpus Latin, meaning "you have the body." A writ of habeas corpus generally is a judicial order forcing law enforcement authorities to produce a prisoner they are holding, and to justify the prisoner's continued confinement.

White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller said Friday that the Trump administration is "actively looking at" suspending habeas corpus, the right of a person to challenge their detention in court.

If carried out by President Donald Trump, the suspension of habeas corpus would be a dramatic escalation of his administration's immigration policy by significantly curtailing a right enshrined in the Constitution.

Nothing from Brown Shorts or OD on that one which - according to OD's own standard - means they both support the Homeless Hairdo suspending the Constitution.

Of course. Because neither one is actually an American. I bet they don't even live in this country. 🤔

curt- so a writ of habeas corpus may be entered. WTF do you have any writ? That answer is "NONE." you pretend you actually have a say in federal law. Trust me, you and I neither of us have a say in that. I'm going to cite some factual folks to you. Confirming the writ of Habeas corpus because you're (and princess) a lying pos of the electoral system.

    OD,
You're drunk posting again aren't you?

  4. by Ponderer on May 9, 2025 10:14 pm

What do you mean, Curt? That was a very well-thought-out case from od in support of Trump wiping his ass with the Constitution. He presented a very cogent argument I thought. Maybe you just couldn't think of anything as intelligent as what he said to respond with?

During the Civil War, President Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus to combat threats to public safety, particularly those related to the war effort and potential Confederate sympathizers. Lincoln initially suspended habeas corpus in Maryland in 1861 and later expanded it to all Union states in 1861. This suspension was challenged, including by Chief Justice Roger Taney, who deemed the suspension unlawful.

"Of the people, by the people and for the people," baby!

Being libertarian-ish, pb has reason to oppose Trump. Y'nes?, y'nes simply practice deranged TrumpHate.

    HtS,
You are a historical ignoramus. Slavery-supporting Roger Taney was responsible for what is considered the Supreme Court's worst ever decision namely the Dred Scott case. The invasion, rebellion and threat to public safety happening during the Civil War met the constitutional requirements to suspend habeas corpus. That is not the case now outside the paranoid minds of MAGA-world.

    Curt,

pb merely points out that Lincoln really did suspend habeas corpus. Fact.

Should Trump do it, too, pb'll oppose him. You, OTOH, are the Big Brother fan among the two of us.

Should Trump suspend habeas corpus, and should you oppose it, you'll simply be doing deranged TrumpHate. When pb opposes it, it'll be pb's love of individual liberty.

What Curt is saying, Brown Shorts - is Lincoln actually had a REASON to (temporarily) suspend habeas corpus - the nation was splitting in two on the verge of civil war. The Homeless Hairdo has absolutely no reason to even consider suspending anything except maybe his already failed presidency.

Again - note the proper use of BOLD text.

I guarantee that if (likely "when") the fascist tyrant declares Martial Law, his order will be deliberately violated by tens of thousands of democracy-loving Americans.

    I'm thinking millions.

If they actually "evoke" the suspension of habeas corpus, it'll be wrung through the courts (justifiably). I also think the immigration and deportation laws written are good as they stand. Since it's not criminal court, the bar is set lower. To go through anything more than that is just plain dumb. IF there are criminal charges, it's a separate issue. I've already cited what the charges for deportation are (several times). So it's pretty cut and dry. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to have a judge decide the case. There are about 47.8 million immigrants in the US. Of those, about 11 million illegally entered the country. So. Those known illegally entering the US are automatically deported. Those supporting the sex slave currency (indy's "buddies") are deported. Those slinging dope (mostly paid through china) are deported. I'm good with that. This takes 6944.4 hours. which means it's almost a year 6944.4 to decide (within 10 minutes) how long it takes to decide the law. This is easy.

If it's not pedophilia - it's sex slaves. Good Lord, isn't it wonderful to not be burdoned with OD's sick, twisted mind?
