Trump said tariffs will cause prices to drop. So why is he warning manufacturers not to raise prices?

and the Trump administration continues to lie to the public about the blunder.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA director John Ratcliffe lied under oath when questioned by Congress by denying classified information was shared in the Signal group chat that included Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Atlantic released the entire Signal chat among Trump senior national security officials Wednesday, showing that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided the exact times of warplane launches, strike packages and targets — before the men and women flying those attacks against Yemen’s Houthis this month on behalf of the United States were airborne.

Based on what are you claiming that classified information was shared?

I know of no indication that the information was actually classified.

Understand, I think this whole thing is a disaster. But, classified documents or information? Show me.

  2. by Ponderer on March 26, 2025 5:31 pm

Yeah. It's pretty open and shut, Curt. I mean, you can't get much more classified than the exact times of American warplane launches, strike packages and targets of an American attack in a war zone in another country.

Only the stupidest, pig-ignorant, bullshit-swallowing moron would ever think that there was ever any doubt whatsoever that such information would be considered classified.

    Ponderer,
Tulsi Gabbard is the worst. She claimed memory problems to evade a question. Representative Jason Crow what country she had been in during the Yemen attack discussion.

“I was traveling through the Asian Pacific region, I don’t recall which country I was in at that time,” Gabbard answered.

FYI, she was in three countries on that trip, India, Thailand and Japan.

Longtime friends of this site will remember that I never have been a fan of Tulsi Gabbard even when she was ostensibly a Democrat.

    po,

We know that, in addition to being a former Supreme Court clerk and a current Ivy League law school professor, you also teach at the Harvard Kennedy School.

But, and please call me stoopid if I'm wrong, doesn't sensitive information actually have to go through the process of being classified to actually be classified?

Ole pb understands that some of the information was highly sensitive, even though he is stoopid. But, as far as he knows, it was not designated as classified.

  5. by meagain on March 27, 2025 8:22 am
Yes you are stoopid. Sensitive information would be classified as a matter of course. However, that is not the issue, is it? The issue is inviting someone to a discussion of secret planning.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 8:46 am

    meagain,

There's no 'would be' in classification. Either trouble is taken to classify a document, or it ain't classified.

Perhaps this stuff SHOULD HAVE BEEN classified, but, apparently, it wasn't.

  7. by Ponderer on March 27, 2025 9:06 am

meagain, what Hate means is that unless those highly sensitive, secret military battle details were submitted to some authority in order to have them officially declared, designated, and stamped "CLASSIFIED" or "TOP SECTRET" in Pantone Red #032c ink, that it's perfectly okay to be pig-ignorantly careless enough with such highly sensitive plans to allow a journalistic entity to receive it over an unsecure, publicly accessed web chat site.

    Common sense I suppose really.

    🙄

He is a nutcase! All government discussion and information is classified unless released to the public. This was released by carelessness, dangerous carelessness, not intent.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 9:12 am

    po,

I think someone in the Trump team made a huuuuuuuuuge boner and it's essential that it be discovered and that appropriate heads must roll.

But, the PILF testified truthfully. None of this was classified.

You need get that TDS checked by a professional. Soonest.

  10. by Ponderer on March 27, 2025 10:35 am

We already know how stringent and thorough MAGA Hat security is. This event certainly doesn't help strengthen people's confidence in our government's ability to treat secret information secret at all.

If information meets the criteria for being classified, it is classified the moment it is generated.

There's no question Gabbard perjured herself.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 10:49 am

    Navy,

    That's ludicrous.

    "That's ludicrous"

Translation: I have no idea if what Navy says is accurate. All I know is that I dont want anyone in my beloved Trump administration to suffer any negative consequences.

  15. by Curt_Anderson on March 27, 2025 11:14 am
Gabbard using repeatedly "I don't recall" as a deliberate lie to avoid answering a question truthfully constitutes perjury. If it isn't a deliberate lie, her competency should be questioned.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 11:29 am

    Curt,

I'm gunna guess. You didn't watch the testimony from beginning to end. Eh?

  17. by Curt_Anderson on March 27, 2025 11:51 am
I didn't catch their opening statements (being in a different time zone on the west coast) but I heard all or most of their testimony. I certainly heard their obfuscations. Apparently they all suffer from selective amnesia.

  18. by Ponderer on March 27, 2025 11:54 am

Navy, you're really getting the hang of translating MAGA-speak.

  19. by Ponderer on March 27, 2025 11:56 am

    "I don't recall..."

As opposed to pleading the Fifth.

They are such unconscionable, bald-faced liars.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 1:06 pm

    po,

Don't tell us you watched the hearing apart from metaphorical Rachel snippets.

We're stoopid, but not that much.

  21. by Curt_Anderson on March 27, 2025 1:21 pm
    HtS,
So what if a person did only see snippets of their obfuscating and feigning faulty memory? Are you suggesting that there was exculpatory testimony that some viewer missed? The Republican questioners were embarrassingly complimentary of Gabbard, Ratcliffe, et al.

  22. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 1:30 pm

    Curt,

Your Holy Trinity and po's metaphorical Rachel exist to, at the very least, show Trump's gang in the worst possible light.

  23. by Ponderer on March 27, 2025 1:42 pm

"Are you suggesting that there was exculpatory testimony that some viewer missed?" -Curt

He is always suggesting that, with any of this administration's crimes and incompetencies.

    And he's always wrong.

  24. by HatetheSwamp on March 27, 2025 2:28 pm

    Curt, po.

As far as I know, you get no information that doesn't come through the woke Holy Trinity and metaphorical Rachel filter.
