As Indy likes to say, Turley is "butt-hurt" because of all his missed legal predictions. Mandate is not a real thing. Mandates don't give presidents extra power or permission. A president's power is based on his ability to get Congress to go along with his proposals.

If mandates were anything, being labeled a felon doesn't give him added clout.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on January 10, 2025 2:24 pm

Oy. You are truly a Good German Dem.

Call it what you want, but DC is behaving as if Trump has what used to be called a mandate.

A few weeks ago GOPs were running away from Mike Johnson like persuadable voters dropped Cackles Mckneepads like a hot potato. Trump makes a few phone calls to HouseGOPs and Johnson is in on the first friggin ballot.

Yesterday, SenateDems joined in a vote to advance the Laken Riley Act 85-9. Lawfare has turned Chuck you Schumer into Trump's buttboy.

And, #2's bang on about Trump having clout in DC. It's arguable that he has the greatest mandate since LBJ 60 freakin friggin EFFINyears ago. And, it's all about the lawfare!

    HtS,
Uh huh, sure, whatever you say. 🤨

  4. by HatetheSwamp on January 10, 2025 3:28 pm

Oh, am I wrong? Who is the Speaker of the House? What was the Laken Riley Act vote? If pb's wrong he's wrong.

  5. by Curt_Anderson on January 10, 2025 3:38 pm
That has nothing to do with Trump’s “mandate” for being a convicted felon.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on January 10, 2025 3:53 pm

pb's #2's suggesting that the manipulation of the justice system against Trump is a substantial building block of the GOP's destruction of Kammy and the Dems in 024. Ole pb can't see it any other way... and, pb's been saying all along that it'd hurt Dems at the ballot box. Are you saying that you disagree?

If you do, how big do you suppose the GOP victory would have been had the Dems not waged lawfare?

The only people upset by Trump's conviction were the Kool-Aid drinkers who were already going to vote for Trump anyway.

The Democrats were running against inflation and a whole lotta stupid positions that Harris took in the 2020 primaries. Harris showed us what political suicide looks like: saying that our tax money should be used to give convicted murderers sex change operations. Nobody's coming back from that self-inflicted wound.

Trump's convictions were not a meaningful factor in the 2024 election. A lot of people held their noses and voted for him because they thought Harris was the worse choice.

    Robert,
I believe Harris made the remarks about prisoner sex change operations that were shown in Trump ads some time ago. It’s on tape so she cannot deny it.

If I were her campaign manager, I’d counter with, “my opponent won’t castrate sex offenders, murderers and other convicted criminals on a voluntary basis…I will!”

  9. by ROB3RT on January 10, 2025 4:52 pm

That would be an amusing pivot...

Like most of Trump’s promises, claims and “points”, it takes about seconds of thought to realize they are ridiculous. Were there many voters grousing “why won’t the gub’ment pay for my sex change operation?”

If memory serves that was an edited clip out of context. She could have spelled it out for the idiots at least once - even though it wouldn't have helped. But the real problem - as Indy has said many times is...

    The Ds are complicit.
