Here's the great divide in America.

The people who elected Joe, and are still happy with him, were fist pumping as Joe defined for America how he understands the challenge of COVID.

I watched the speech on Fox, which carried it as a party of the EDT 5:00 show, THE FIVE, which spanks Rachel in the ratings every day.

The FIVE gang hated the speech for many reasons but, as much as any reason for the attack on the freedom of American citizens.

This what I see. I see it clearly on SS.

There are fewer of both liberals and conservatives today than there were 20, 40 years ago.

Much of conservatism has drifted into libertarianism...

...and, sadly, many former liberals are now, happily, fascists, people who'd cheer Joe for his choice of Big Brother requirements and regulations over freedom.

Yikes!

One person I know doesn't like the mandate. He would rather that we just let all the anti-vaxxers, most of whom are Republican, kill themselves.

Btw, there's plenty of legal precedent allowing freedoms to be temporarily curtailed during emergencies.

But it's not an emergency for Hate. And it's not an emergency for the pig-ignorant who he is championing. So they believe. So nothing else matters to them.

What has really got me so dejected is finding out how little a huge portion of this country cares about the other people who they share this country with. They don't give a rat's f*ck about anyone but themselves.

It's a pretty sad contingent of the population to have to go to war with.

What I've been reading is that many of the unvaxxed are politically unaffiliated and that many others are people of color, who are more often registered Dems. I think it's extremely doubtful that the majority of the unvaxxed are registered Republican.

But, I'm certain that that is a very comfortable woke myth.

Pig-ignorant? Again? Angry today, ain't, po!!!!!?

My guess is that the feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's authoritarianism will be successfully challenged in court. This is, after all, still a representative republic.

What startles and saddens me is how easily the once progressive ilk has slipped into fascism.

So, HtS, if there aren't any successful court challenges may we conclude that you and all those brought suit are feckless dementia-ridden pieces of crap?

  8. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2021 10:47 am

No, Curt. But the mood over here in the libertarian and antiSwamp crowd is one of gleeful confidence!

Hate, is it your belief that being free in this country gives a person the right to put others in this society at risk, just because that person wants to? That being free means that you owe absolutely nothing to the others you share the country with? That your behavior is unbridled and you can be as much of a hazard to society as you want to be?

    It is not.

It is my belief, though, that the Bill of Rights primary purpose is to protect citizens from government intrusion, which is what it is.

You might be right on that, but "Republican opposition to getting vaccinated fell slightly in August: In the latest survey, 26% of Republicans say they are opposed to getting vaccinated, equaling the lowest share since tracking began. However, the group remains the largest major source of vaccine opposition in the country."

I see. So then you don't believe that the Bill of Rights gives a person the right to put others in this society at risk, just because that person wants to...

    BUT...

You do believe that the Bill of Rights gives a person the right to put others in this society at risk, if not doing so requires that person to do anything that they don't want to do.....?

Help me out a little here, Hate. Your ludicrously asinine excuse for logic is a tad more indecipherable today than usual...
