This is kinda weird and interesting - I just got something in the mail from Kamala. Yes, I know - there is nothing out of the ordinary about a candidate sending a request for cash (and a "Harris for President" bumper sticker 🙂) to people in their party... until you factor in previous election campaigns. I don't remember Joe Biden sending me anything during the 2020 campaign (or 2024 before he dropped out). Also do not remember Hillary sending me anything. They certainly didn't send me bumper stickers because I save all that stuff and I have nothing from either of them. Obama? He sent me all kinds of stuff all the time (even when he wasn't running). I volunteered for him, so maybe that made a difference. But why is Kamala coming after me now when I have been divorced from the party since 2016 and have not sent a single dime to the Ds or any other candidates since John Kerry taught me that was a dumb thing to do back in 2004? My thinking? She - like me - also believes Florida is in play and is reaching deeper into the pockets for more money to put FL back in the blue column. 😉

Florida certainly could be in play. I read today that she has around $100 million more to spend than Trump does. So whether or not if she has a shot there, if she can make him defend Florida, he's vulnerable elsewhere.

Incidentally, that video you posted today was succinct and mostly correct. One thing they got wrong was about Pennsylvania. Trump loses if he doesn't carry it, using their map. Harris can lose PA and win the election if she carries NC. Or if she carries Florida, of course. Although chances are if she carries NC and FL she probably also wins in PA.

See story, "Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff visits The Villages to campaign for VP Harris". There are a lot of retired Jews in Florida which he probably relates well to.

Harris has a surrogate advantage. Tim Walz is as popular as JD Vance is unpopular. Look up their respective approval ratings. Walz has good one-liners. Vance is awkward and weird. Melania is not campaigning for her husband. RFK Jr. is a disaster as a surrogate. Tulsi Gabbard might be in the Witness Protection program.

Trump is pretty much a one-man band. His celebrity endorser in Las Vegas tonight was some guy from "Pawn Stars". Not exactly at the Taylor Swift level of celebrity status.

Saw a clip from the Emhoff rally - he's funny in that next door neighbor kind of way. Very unassuming. I didn't watch much of it, but he looked like another plus for Kamala to me.

I found a video of Doug Emhoff at The Villages. As Indy said, he is funny in a next-door neighbor sort of way. Emhoff mentioned that he was in Tucson, Arizona about the same time that Trump was. He said Trump was claiming that he had won the debate, he got a huge laugh when he remarked about Trump’s post-debate “chutzpah”.

Watched the first 10 minutes - thanks for the link, Curt! He's a real asset - kind of hard to believe he's a lawyer. His demeanor strikes me more like a doctor or social worker. He would be a huge upgrade over The Ice Queen Trump's married to.

Also on the "Is Florida In Play?" front, is the irate population of people of Haitian ethnicity in Florida. They are pissed over the Trump/Vance smears. These Haitians represent 2.4% of the Florida population, the most of any state. They could matter in a close election, especially if the Democrats work registering them and getting them to vote.

As of July 26th, Harris's campaign listed 12 field offices and more than 33 hired staff members. The volunteer totals in Florida, the campaign added, are more than in battleground state

Just had lunch with my sister - first person here to tell me they're voting for Trump. She's caught up in the immigration nonsense - railing against them all the time even though her best friend is here illegally.
