Trump makes a statement like, say...
"So, I went to the store to pick up some more ketchup..."
Then, we or the media then report something like, say.....
"Trump told a crowd that he went to the store to get some more ketchup"
And the MAGA Hats in here go absolutely apoplectic...!
"THAT'S NOT WHAT HE SAID!!! He never said that!!! That's a flat-out lie! You are lying about him! Everything you say about him is a lie! You're lying because you are left wing liars who lie all the time!"
Then, when queried about what part of our reporting was inaccurate, they will never simply come out and say what their beef is about what specific thing we said or which part of it was inaccurate.
We of course can figure out what their beef is. Their argument is so asinine and obviously and pathetically obfuscatory that we never actually expect them to point out what was wrong with anything that we said, because then they'd be shown to be the petty little asshats that they are.
In this example, what Trump said and what was reported that he said are in full agreement. But the MAGA Hats see an opening.
By reporting that he said he went to the store to get some more ketchup, the MAGA Hats feel that they are now absolutely justified in demonizing everything we say about him as a flat-out lie, thereby successfully obfuscating (in their deranged minds) our entire point's validity and accuracy.
It's a worn out, old, schoolyard bullshit tactic, but such is all they got.
There obviously is actually nothing of any substance different between his actual quote and what it was reported that he said. But they will still cryptically point out that we "lied" about what he said. Because such a pitifully small discrepancy is all they have to work with.
