Emmer, who is currently the House whip and has represented central Minnesota in Congress since 2015, must now secure 217 of the 221 Republican votes on the House floor to be elected to the job, a task that bedeviled the two nominees before him.

    I don't hold much hope that the Republicans can get it together to elect a speaker. Too many of the Republicans don't like government, governing or democracy. They are happy with non-functioning government. They don't have any principles to promote or fight for. Given that, why should they elect a speaker?

    You sent me scurrying to Google that term!

    The Higgs boson, sometimes called the Higgs particle, is an elementary particle in the Standard Model of particle physics produced by the quantum excitation of the Higgs field, one of the fields in particle physics theory. It is very unstable, decaying into other particles almost immediately upon generation.
