  1. by Indy! on August 5, 2023 10:28 am

What Rogan says could be true. It’s already been verified that the George Floyd peaceful protest in Minnesota was turned into a riot by a cop acting as an agent provocateur and bricks were left on pallets in the streets of other cities where protests took place in the hopes protesters would use them to start trouble. The government works for corporate America - not the Ds or Rs. Their purpose is to maintain the status quo - not freedom of speech or assembly.

That said, why didn’t you just post Joe Rogan’s video, peebs? Who’s this Benny asshole? He’s annoying af.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on August 5, 2023 10:34 am

Benny's one of those conservative podcasters whose influence has expanded exponentially since the Fox Tucker fiasco.

Suddenly, he has more than a million YouTube subscribers.

  3. by Ponderer on August 5, 2023 11:03 am

Hey, Rogan is cashing in on the Golden Age of Flaming Bullshit for propaganda mongers and anyone who wants to buy what they are selling.

In a nutshell, what is it that he's saying happened?

  4. by Indy! on August 5, 2023 11:39 am

Peebs' annoying friend Benny only posted a small clip - so it's probably taken way out of context, but what Rogan was basically saying was the Epps guy from Jan 6 was probably an agent provocateur (perhaps one of many that day) who helped turn a peaceful protest into the fustercluck it became. I can believe that. Although that still doesn't exonerate Trump or any of the others who encouraged people to show up or those that destroyed and stole things and otherwise created problems. I personally do not believe there was any need for provocateurs that day - but if they were present then it is a problem. If you really dig into the BLM protests - virtually every one (if not all of them) that went tits up were provoked by outside forces - most likely government agents. It's obvious why it's done - to divide and conquer. The BLM people "riot" - the Rs point the finger at the left. The J6 people "riot" - the Ds point the finger at the right. This is the real game - divide Americans so they don't stop to think and look at their REAL problems. It's not Biden, it's not Trump - it's corporate control.

Right. He's hit hard times. He's effin desperate for attention. Baha baha baha!

Thanks, Indy. I kinda figured that it was probably about some ludicrously false, already-debunked, absolutely flaming bullshit or other. It always is. I don't know why I ever expect anything different.

He's going to have as great case in civil court as those two innocent election workers who supposedly were "professional election scammers", Ruby Freeman and her daughter, that were absolutely innocent and had their lives ruined by Trump and his fuckinglies about them.

I hope they and this Epps guy sue the livingshit outta Trump and/or Giuliani. If either of those two are even worth ten bucks by the end of all this.

  7. by Ponderer on August 5, 2023 1:17 pm

"Right. He's hit hard times. He's effin desperate for attention." -Hate

I never said that. That's nothing like what I said. Typical Bill.

A psychotically wealthy person can cash in on something, just as anyone else can. Only he's already got a steady stream of marks to bilk any way he wants to who are ready, willing, and able to lap up whatever bullshit vomit on a platter he cares to serve them.

Apparently you've swallowed up your share of helpings yourself there, Bill.

  8. by Curt_Anderson on August 5, 2023 1:23 pm
    Ponderer,
Another Baltimore resident, HL, Mencken, observed that “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” That goes for people like Rupert Murdoch, Joe Rogan and Donald Trump.

  9. by Indy! on August 5, 2023 1:27 pm

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it, Pondy. It took a couple years for the truth about the Minnesota riots to come out even though there was film of the agent provocateur in action the day after it happened. The main stream media and cable networks have still not covered it even an independent investigation tracked the guy down and proved he was there as an agent provocateur. Sounds like a whacky conspiracy, but this has been a very common tactic of the FBI and other US gov't arms forever. The Civil Rights movement was littered with examples.

  10. by Indy! on August 5, 2023 1:37 pm

    Curt...

What some people (including you) don't seem to understand about Joe Rogan is he is not a journalist. He's just a guy with an opinion and a podcast having a conversation with people. So to put him in the same category with Murdoch or Trump is a bit disingenuous. The value (and attraction) of Rogan is he's not afraid to let his guests speak. If you watch cable or broadcast news or talk shows closely - you'll see the conversations are very closely contained to only allow the information the networks WANT to discuss being discussed. This goes so far as to cut off guests with fake "equipment issues" if they stray to far off base. Rogan lets guests say whatever they want to say without interference. THAT'S what makes his show popular and - yes - important.

And before you accuse me of being a Rogan fanboy or something? Outside of partial clips like peebs posted here - stuff other people have offered up for discussion - I've never seen a single episode of Joe Rogan's show. In fact, I've never seen or listened to any podcasts ever.

  11. by Ponderer on August 5, 2023 1:49 pm

"I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it, Pondy." -Indy!

Okay. How much time should I allow to elapse before I dismiss it? I don't see what taking longer to dismiss it is supposed to accomplish. I already have already heard enough info on it in the last few days to dismiss it now. What is waiting for even more evidence proving it's bullshit to come in going to change?

    I

There. Did I take long enough that time...?

  12. by Ponderer on August 5, 2023 1:52 pm

Indy!, if Rogan will let anyone on his show spout any manner of nonsense that they want to, how is his show supposed to be a valid source for anything truthful?

  13. by HatetheSwamp on August 6, 2023 4:14 am

    po,

What Rogan illustrates is the power of the Bill of Rights. Freedom, baby.

It has always seemed to me that you only support the freedom of people who think and behave as you do.

Well, this is still America. With this Supreme Court in place our nation "of the people, by the people and for the people" still has a chance...

...in spite of you and your ilk.

  14. by Ponderer on August 6, 2023 8:20 am

"What Rogan illustrates is the power of the Bill of Rights. Freedom, baby." -Hate

Big woopity-poop. He's monetized freedom of speech. So anyone can come on his show and lie their asses off to their heart's content and help him make millions.

Which forces me to ask again, if Rogan will let anyone on his show spout any manner of nonsense that they want to, how is his show supposed to be a valid source for anything truthful?

A bit haughty of you, to decide what truth is for everyone. Eh?

You really despise other people's freedom.

Is this some of that “my truth”, “alternate facts” bullshit that conservatives like?

"A bit haughty of you, to decide what truth is for everyone. Eh?" -Hate

You're changing the subject. I did no such thing.

What I said was, if Rogan will let anyone on his show spout any manner of nonsense that they want to, how is his show supposed to be a valid source for anything truthful?

What I am saying is that someone simply being on his show is no guarantee of them presenting anything truthful.

"It's the stuff woke, white limousine lib progressive sanctimones lack the humility to acknowledge." -Hate

    That reminds me...

Curt, do you know of a good limousine repair shop? The guy I used to go to is only repairing lib Learjets now. My white limo has been clanking something terrible. By the way, how is yours doing? I remember loving that upholstery you had installed.

Your first mistake is believing his show has to be a valid source for anything truthful. But if read what I said - the way it IS a source for truth is when you let people talk - say what they want instead of trying to get a preferred answer like Rachel, Sean Hannity and Dan Rather - you DO get honesty. I understand why people get pissed about Rogan - because he gives a voice to some onerous people. They should be HAPPY he's letting those people expose their true selves. How else will you know who they are unless you know what they believe? People got upset because Tulsi went on there and told the world who the Ds really are - how they operate behind the scenes - and Ds got ANGRY AT TULSI? WTF? They should be getting angry at the Ds! Don't blame the messenger.

God I hate the way this forum works. You can't get a more user friendly forum software than this, Curt?

  21. by Ponderer on August 6, 2023 11:29 am

"Your first mistake is believing his show has to be a valid source for anything truthful." -Indy!

Well, I never made that mistake because I have never believed his show was a valid source for anything truthful. Take that mistake up with Hate. He's the one who's made it.

Networks like MSNBC are constantly monitored by the right for any mistakes they make that can be weaponized. Unbiased media research sites can be found that report on the truthfulness of the network news and opinion shows. And MSNBC is nowhere near the bottom on the truthfulness scale. And it has never had to settle out of court to the tune of a three quarters of a billion dollars for lying and slandering anyone on their airwaves week after week.

  22. by HatetheSwamp on August 6, 2023 2:46 pm

po thinks Rachel is about truth. Keeheeheeheeheeheeheehee ha.

And, well said, Indy. Rogan facilitates honesty. Authenticity...the most personal form of truth.

Clearly, po ain't into anyone who doesn't walk lockstep with ol po being authentic.

  23. by Ponderer on August 7, 2023 7:37 am

So Bill, is it your contention that everything that Joe Rogan has ever said on his show and everything all his guests have ever said on his show... is the truth?

Just a simple yes or no will suffice.

  24. by HatetheSwamp on August 7, 2023 7:56 am

pb has never watched a single episode of the Rogan podcast but he's aware of Rogan's cultural impact.

Based on what I do know from the occasional YouTube video, Indy is correct. Rogan empowers his, often quirky, guests' honesty and authenticity.

  25. by Ponderer on August 7, 2023 8:16 am

Oh I don't deny that some of the things he may say on his show are truthful, or that some of his guests and what they say isn't truthful. It just seems to me that allowing people on your show to spout all manner of bullshit would remove you from the echelon of legitimate journalists or commentators. Like what happened to Fox in the latest libel cases they've been dealing with.

Do you contend that Rachel Maddow is always untruthful? That truth is never presented on her show? I know she's made mistakes. I know that there is spin put on things she reports sometimes. I even catch it when she does that and take it into consideration. But she and MSNBC don't just flat out lie and report flaming bullshit that never happened and they they can't even corroborate like Fox and other right wing media sites do.

  26. by HatetheSwamp on August 7, 2023 8:31 am

    po,

I think that Rachel always believes what she says, even though much of it a $acko$hit.

But, this is America. The First Amendment still matters.

  27. by Ponderer on August 7, 2023 8:57 am

"I think that Rachel always believes what she says, even though much of it a $acko$hit." -Hate

How in the world would you know, Bill? You don't watch her or MSNBC. And Fox would have a field day debunking "much" of what she says if it wasn't true. Even if it was a rare occurrence, they would go to town on her over it. Whatever Fox tells you is fake news is fake news in your book.

You have no basis for asserting what you assert about her at all. None at all. Nothing but the fact that you are supposed to believe that she's a liar based on what you are told to think about her. You are just parroting what you were instructed to parrot. You are such a good German in that way, Bill.

I can say that the MAGA Republican party is full of liars because I have watched for myself so many of them lie like it's of no consequence at all to them for so many years. They lie as if it's a foundational aspect of their very being.

  28. by HatetheSwamp on August 7, 2023 9:24 am

    po,

I'm not you. I sample everything in "news" "reporting."

I go out of my way to counter the preferences and prejudices I take with me to every moment of my life.

  29. by Indy! on August 7, 2023 6:46 pm

Pondy - no offense, really - but those people "monitoring the truth" are simply monitoring what is being said to make sure it aligns with what their corporate masters tell them is the "truth". MSNBC lies outright all the time every day of the week and if we include lies by omission? It's baiscally 24/7/365. Remember Bernie's 2016 campaign? MSNBC barely acknowledged it was happening and only when there was no way around it. This infatuation with Trump's legal issues is a lie. If the job is to report the news - they should be reporting on the news that actually affects real Americans' lives. There is no "news" org on cable or broadcast television that comes anywhere near that kind of information. Even the crap that is 100% bullshit like the Ukraine war is disappeared from the news when it doesn't serve the official narrative. Have you noticed since China has been stepping an effort to find a peaceful end - it's totally disappeared off the US radar?

  30. by Curt_Anderson on August 7, 2023 8:15 pm
    Indy,
With the exception of Fox News and their defamation lawsuit losses, cable news channels are not out and out lying. Making editorial decisions to include and exclude certain stories is not lying by omission. If you like reports about corporate greed, abused laborers and global warming disasters you might like Democracy Now!

  31. by Indy! on August 7, 2023 11:18 pm

Let's try to stick to things I actually said, Curt. Makes things run a lot smoother. 😉
