Pure antiSwamp.

In my opinion, this is the central issue in the 024 election. Do you LovetheSwamp or HatetheSwamp?

It surprises, and disgusts, ol pb that so many here still have a puppy love crush on the corrupt and dysfunctional DC culture.

Trump is despicable, truly, but tens of millions of Americans get that the Swamp is despicable-r...that includes progressives like Indy!, moderates/ libertarians like pb and, of course, the MAGA crowd.

Anyway, The Post Millennial does a good job of reporting Trump...if you're TDS free enough:

Right, Donna. What's there not to love about the Swamp?

You don't do progressive sanctimony as often as po. But, d@ng. You do it well!

How reassuring it must be for Hate to be able to just make up whatever baseless nonsense he wants to believe with no actual proof whatsoever, and then actually to have a whole swath of the media that will support him and lie to him and encourage him in his stupidity without presenting any proof at all either.

Hate is the living personification of ignorance being bliss.

What the left doesn't understand is that many of the trumpsters actually believe this. Therefore. Every time he gets indicted. every charge. every raised fist and finger raised against him goes on the internet forever. They take po's f-laced rants and use that to support the far-right that moderates can't talk to. The best thing they can do for themselves is to STFU. let him wallow in his own. He is kept alive by his advisory, which is a little weird. Remember, martyrdom IS a thing. For every side. You can either play into it. or not. Your choice.

  8. by Indy! on July 31, 2023 7:49 am

Yeah Trump is a martyr. The victim of his own stupidity.

  9. by Donna on July 31, 2023 8:02 am

Everyone I know on the left totally gets that Trump's fans believe every word he says, od. It's a classic cult of personality.

  10. by oldedude on July 31, 2023 8:12 am
I agree, and my view is not to feed into that. And every time, there are a few more converts. Just an idea in political thought and how to play the game.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 11:41 am

Yeah Trump is a martyr. The victim of his own stupidity.

No. The clearest analogy pb can muster is to the Christian teaching of the Substitutionary Atonement. Jesus died in our place.

Trump is being politically persecuted in our place.

    pb believes that. No doubt.

The hate that, say, po and isle, spew against freedom loving Americans?, is being dumped on Trump. He's suffering at the hands of the woke, so we won't have to.

Trump's fans aren't being charged with the crimes he is. They're fools to believe him, but that's how it always is with personality cults.

  13. by oldedude on July 31, 2023 11:51 am
Because of the issues with the russian collusion fraud and illegal activity. That started it. The fact that it was so blatantly illegal and used against a campaign and a person running against the now president.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 12:04 pm

    Donna,

I been reading po-hate, isle-hate and other hates for more than a decade here. That hate is substantially absorbed by Trump because of the TDS.

  15. by oldedude on July 31, 2023 12:20 pm
And if they came for him, they'll come for all conservatives!

Remember the berniebros that were talking about "re-education" camps like Pol Pot had? You know, the killing fields?

Whatever you think about these acts is immaterial. It's how they're used against you. These things just keep those fires going. And the right is learning from the left about using the power of misdirection and mass media (and lying, that too) in order to get people on their side.

When the fire gets low, someone will do something stupid.

Like not allowing parents to see what's going on in their kids' schools.

And having the FBI name them as Domestic Terrorists.

Or with absolutely NO scientific evidence, force schools to mask their 5 year-olds.

Or have several politicians say the gun laws in Australia are good laws (where the government can warrantlessly no knock (meaning your door comes flying off the hinges) and they get to search your house "in case you're not keeping your guns correctly."

The list can go on and on. Both sides do it, so let's not start the whataboutisms, because I'm not going to engage.

  16. by Donna on July 31, 2023 12:51 pm

The federal government never forced schools to mask students.

  17. by oldedude on July 31, 2023 7:50 pm
They took funds from districts that didn't. THATS FORCING THEM.

-Hate, making what he thinks is an rational comparison between Jesus Christ and his other Messiah, Donald Trump

And he says that he has never defended Trump. Exodus 20:3 can just go fuckitself I suppose.

Trump is being legally indicted for actual crimes that he has willfully committed. But according to you, Bill, he is being persecuted in your place for crimes you do not believe he committed... so that you and other MAGA Republicans won't be indicted for similar crimes that you didn't commit...?

You'd think that after a couple decades I'd be able to fully decipher your gobbledygook by now. But what you use for logic still makes it rather difficult, Bill. I gotta tell ya.

  19. by Donna on August 1, 2023 7:21 am

Do you have a source for that, od?

  20. by Donna on August 1, 2023 12:54 pm

"The federal government never forced schools to mask students.+ - Donna

"They took funds from districts that didn't. THATS FORCING THEM." - od

I asked you for your source, and you haven't answered. Maybe you forgot about this thread or maybe you realized later that what you said isn't true - IDK. Anyhow I found something that clears up your misconception.

"Some districts are opposing their states to strengthen COVID-19 safety measures. Alachua and Broward counties in Florida, for example, recently defied the governor to require masks in schools. Now, President Biden promises to fill in any gaps in funding that result. This goes above and beyond the $122 billion set aside for school reopenings in the American Rescue Plan. According to the White House, "Local school districts will be able to apply to the Department of Education in the coming weeks to restore funding withheld by state leaders ... when a school district implemented strategies to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in schools." The Department of Education announced that the new grant program will be called Project SAFE (Supporting America's Families and Educators), and it will be funded under Title IV of the Every Student Succeeds Act.

So according to that report, it's governors like your own governor, DeSantis, who actually stripped funding from schools that defied Biden's No Mask Mandate. Biden restored the funding that DeSantis stole from them.

I f--cked that correction up too.

Actually I meant to say "it's governors like your own governor, DeSantis, who actually stripped funding from schools that defied his No Mask Mandate. Biden restored the funding that DeSantis stole from them.

  23. by oldedude on August 1, 2023 2:53 pm
I actually quit reading this thread out of lack of interest. I agree with you on DeSantis and the schools. My view is that he needs to allow local governments do their own thing. Miami/Dade and Jacksonville, and even Tampa have very different views than the panhandle and the central gulf coast. AND like I've said before, I'm not convinced that anyone has a right to tell people they have to wear masks, or people can't wear masks. That's just stupid at this point. Individuals have a right to choose.

Mask mandates are harming our kids’ development.

More US schools institute mask mandates as COVID cases rise

Mandatory masking in schools reduced COVID-19 cases

Masks make a comeback: Hundreds of thousands of students across the US will be forced to wear face coverings when classes go back this week, as schools revive controversial mandates.

You notice here mask MANDATES were imposed. The states were required to go through Federal court and appeals process in order to back the federal government off of DEMANDING states do this. It wasn't until the states rebelled against an illegal "order" that didn't hold standing in the law that states were allowed to chose.

Christians confuse people not wanting to follow their fairy tale story as being "persecuted". Trump is simply playing into that. Like everything he does, he's looking for useful idiots for his own gain, nothing else. The way you tell the difference, Peebs - is Jesus was not a narcissistic egomaniac only concerned with himself.

  25. by Donna on August 1, 2023 3:29 pm

The states were required to go through Federal court and appeals process in order to back the federal government off of DEMANDING states do this. - od

When did the federal government ever "DEMAND" that states implement federal COVID protocols? I didn't see that in any of the sources you listed. Granted, I skimmed through them, but I'm a pretty good skimmer. Maybe you can find it if it's in any of those articles or point us to a different source that corroborates your claim.

What we do know is that governors like DeSantis proposed taking money from public school districts that implemented COVID protocols and giving the money to school districts that didn't, and Biden stepped in and said that the federal government would reimburse those districts for whatever amount of money those state governments took from those school districts.

  26. by Indy! on August 1, 2023 4:28 pm

The thing about DeSantis was he didn't do anything unless he thought it was going to help his presidential aspirations. That's all the school thing was - another attempt by him to out-Trump Trump. The vaccination program actually ran pretty smoothly here. There were long lines when it kicked off (like everywhere) - but once things got going it was easy to get vaxxed and tested for free if you wanted.

  27. by oldedude on August 1, 2023 6:53 pm
I agree with the vax stuff. I even mentioned it when I was at a Publix and they were greeting everyone almost begging to get their next vax. This was later, and there were people there, but none of the lines compared to the amount of "older" people there. I think there were a lot of places to get it and there was a structure there. Old with issues, etc... Like most states. There were a couple of issues with testing on our side, but nothing major. I actually went back to the pharmacy in the middle of that and asked for a tetanus shot. That took the nurse about 2 minutes to get that drawn and in my arm.

So I saw the same thing you did.

  28. by Indy! on August 1, 2023 9:26 pm

I got vaxxed for free at the drugstore. The only thing inconvenient about it was I had to make an appointment even though nobody was getting vaxxed or waiting. So I made the appt for the next day and had to come back. Waited about 5 minutes for them to fill some other prescriptions and got the needle.

I needed to get tested for a concert and remembered seeing a sign down the street at the firehouse. Drove over, walked in and they tested me right away. I was the only person there besides workers. Also free.
