It is a binary choice. Either you vote for Joe Biden and democracy or you’re voting for fascism.

In 2011, Trump claimed Obama would start a war with Iran to win re-election. Obama didn't.
"Our President will start a war with Iran because he has absolutely no ability to negotiate," Donald Trump said on President Obama in a November 2011 video on his YouTube channel.

"He's weak, and he's ineffective," Trump added. "So I believe that he will attack Iran sometime prior to the election, because he thinks that's the only way he can get elected." See video below.

It's hard not to wonder and suspect that Trump ordered the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani to distract from his impeachment trial. Perhaps Trump calculated that it will help his re-election chances--as he accused Obama of planning. He evidently thought a starting a war would help a president to be re-elected.

There is every reason to expect that Iran will retaliate. The Iranians are promising "harsh revenge". An additional US 3500 troops are being deployed to the middle-east. Undoubtedly Soleimani will be replaced with another general. Tensions are escalating. It seems unlikely that Trump's provocative act will make America and the world safer.

Old Trump: low opinion of our intelligence agencies
America's spy agencies have been a frequent target of Trump's criticism and insults. "We need somebody strong that can rein [the US intelligence agencies] in. Because, as I think you've all learned, the intelligence agencies have run amok. They have run amok", Trump said.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Intelligence people seem to be extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran. They are wrong! When I became President Iran was making trouble all over the Middle East, and beyond. Since ending the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal, they are MUCH different, but....
....a source of potential danger and conflict. They are testing Rockets (last week) and more, and are coming very close to the edge. There economy is now crashing, which is the only thing holding them back. Be careful of Iran. Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!

New Trump: high opinion of our intelligence agencies
"Soleimani was plotting imminent and sinister attacks on American diplomats and military personnel, but we caught him in the act and terminated him," Mr. Trump said. Trump went on to say, "We have the best intelligence in the world."

If only we could trust our president
In times like these it would be nice to have a less narcissistic and a more trustworthy president. We'd all like to think that our president's interests and motivations are focused solely on what is best for America and the world, rather for himself personally.

Unfortunately, with Trump we have a petty president who is not above suspicion.

New York Times report (link below, subscription)
WASHINGTON — In the chaotic days leading to the death of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s most powerful commander, top American military officials put the option of killing him — which they viewed as the most extreme response to recent Iranian-led violence in Iraq — on the menu they presented to President Trump.

They didn’t think he would take it. In the wars waged since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Pentagon officials have often offered improbable options to presidents to make other possibilities appear more palatable.

By late Thursday, the president had gone for the extreme option. Top Pentagon officials were stunned.

But some officials voiced private skepticism about the rationale for a strike on General Suleimani, who was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American troops over the years. According to one United States official, the new intelligence indicated “a normal Monday in the Middle East” — Dec. 30 — and General Suleimani’s travels amounted to “business as usual.”

That official described the intelligence as thin and said that General Suleimani’s attack was not imminent because of communications the United States had between Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and General Suleimani showing that the ayatollah had not yet approved any plans by the general for an attack.
