Under Florida's anti-discrimination laws, casinos are not allowed to ban men from competing in women's events, which is why Hughes was able to participate.
Effin Florida. And, po just told us: IT'S OFFICIAL: Florida is Governed by Bigoted, Sociopathic Assholes...
Well, po, your trans political agenda won you another great victory.

The guy isn't even transgender nor was he claiming to be, Bill. What did you think this has to do with anything?
The real issue here is that there are people who think that poker is a sport.
by HatetheSwamp on May 6, 2023 9:48 am
po,
It makes precisely the point that 28 is making about bathrooms. The laws that support trans rights frequently open doors for other wrongs.
by Ponderer on May 6, 2023 1:32 pm
What was the "other wrong" that was committed here? The casino's rules not only allowed but required that men were to be allowed to compete in contests for women. You gotta problem with that, take it up with the casino owners. Transgender people have nothing whatsoever to do with any of it. This has nothing whatsoever to do with us.

*crickets*

po,
What transgender people have to do with it is your impractical policy recommendations. That's 28's point.
LET US POOP IN THE PUBLIC BATHROOM WE CHOOSE AND THE REST OF YOU BE DAMNED,...
...doesn't win friends and influence people.

"your impractical policy recommendations." -Hate
Please define exactly what you mean by that please...
By our "impractical policy recommendations", I know you can't be talking about our wish to simply be allowed to keep doing what we've been doing for over a couple decades now. I mean since there has been essentially no negative repercussions or protests over it whatsoever in all that time... until now of course. Since MAGA Republican politicians and right wing propagandist pundits took it upon themselves to weaponize the hatred and bigotry of the MAGA Republican electorate into suddenly being apoplectic about it.
Are you talking about that...?
You seriously can't see that what you MAGA Republicans are doing to my community almost perfectly mirrors what your kind was doing to Blacks and other minorities up until the sixties, can you. It's all fresh and new to you isn't it.
by HatetheSwamp on May 7, 2023 6:32 am
po,
I've agreed with and praised 28's posts on t'other thread.
I'll simply say, "Dittos," 28!
by Ponderer on May 7, 2023 7:45 am
And I have pointed out the illogical inconsistencies with his posts.
What's your point?
by HatetheSwamp on May 7, 2023 8:11 am
His posts don't contain "illogical incosistencies."
This is where the "subjectivity is truth" things applies. You don't really center the universe.
Here's a truth even you can't deny: In this nation "of the people, by the people and for the people," many people think that you are in the wrong. You are welcome to think of people who think differently than you as stupid, unenlightened...whatever way you want to function in your sanctimony. But, if Arizona passes the Florida bathroom law, you yourself will be between a rock and a hard place and it won't matter how you define the shortcomings of the people who passed that law.
I wrote to the other thread that 28's posts are remarkably cogent. Most people would.

"His posts don't contain 'illogical incosistencies.'" -Hate
They do. And I pointed them out.
There is no logical consistency between wanting to fix a problem by punishing innocent people who are in no way whatsoever causing the problem, which in no way whatsoever actually fixes the problem. It is illogically inconsistent to want to fix a problem by means that in no way relate to or would could ever fix the problem.
It's like trying to address the problem of gun violence by making bows and arrows illegal because... well because anyone who has a bow and arrows might also have a gun!

I agree with 28. I do not agree with you.
You don't center the universe.

"...of the people, by the people and for the people" -Abraham Lincoln
Okay. Fine .
It is a tremendously small minority of people who want to see these laws made against us. And you think Abe would agree that the bigoted, hateful, baseless paranoia of a minority of people in the country are what our laws should be based on?
by HatetheSwamp on May 7, 2023 10:20 am
The fact is that huuuuuuuuuge majorities of state legislatures passed the legislation and governors signed them.
by Ponderer on May 7, 2023 10:53 am
Wrong.
