In Hate’s title post, Female staffers at CNN threaten to walk if Don Lemon not fired Hate said if he [Lemon] had been a conservative, “he'd'a been gone within 24 hours of his ageist and sexist comment.” I agreed with 😀 Smiley when he responded with “we should ALL condemn him [Lemon] and remove him from our (progressive) ranks for acting and talking like a Republican” !!!
OK! I did some searching and I now have a better understanding of what this guy Lemon said in context, and it wasn’t as bad as I had been led to believe.
Apparently he was getting back at presidential candidate Nikki Haley for, in her presidential campaign announcement, calling for “mandatory mental competency tests for politicians over 75 years old." LoL !!!
Lemon said the "talk about age" makes him uncomfortable and said her comments were the "wrong road" to go down.
"She [Haley] says people, politicians are not in their prime," "Nikki Haley is not in her prime, sorry. A woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s, 30s and maybe her 40s."
Of course, determining when a woman is in her prime is subjective, it’s like saying a chocolate eclair tastes better than a Ritz cracker. So I’m sure that Hate would have to say that what Lemon said was “true”, according to Hate's own beliefs about subjectivity being true and all. Of course, “I” disagree with Lemon. I think women over 40 are the best !!!
Anyway, being the gentleman that he apparently is, Lemon apologized, ”The reference I made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was *inartful* and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn't define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”
* Even though I don't know what inartful means, I accept Lemons apology.
