One facet of the speech has emerged as the dominant theme of the coverage. At one point during the speech, Biden invoked plans from several Republicans that would cause programs like Social Security to sunset every few years and disappear for good if not reauthorized. The president found himself flat-out arguing with Republicans screaming “LIAR!” in the middle of the speech.

That scene was repeated several times, with Biden shooting back by telling his rowdy colleagues to “look it up!”

"That feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" has turned the US Congress into the British House of Commons where political opponents, as a matter of course, shout and shake fists at each other while the body is in session.

You SwampLovers must be in your glory! Clouseau's historic achievement is to make the Swamp's stench more repulsive than ever. I can't imagine that the reek will ever diminish.

I'm enjoying watching MAGAs having their usual hissy fits over things that most Americans support.

Joe Biden’s ad libs were masterful. That 80 year old man made the Republicans look like fools and disagreeable fools at that. I loved how Biden made Republicans howl. The fact checkers will be proving him right that there were Republicans who advocated cutting Social Security, and or Medicare.

Joe Biden is currently in the low to mid 40s in approval polls. However, taken in isolation his policy achievements when listed are very popular. All Joe Biden needs to do is to let people know he was the one who achieved them.

Republicans will further diminish their even lower ratings with their “investigations”. Plus, they will be arguing and voting against any suggestion that billionaires should pay at a lower tax rate than nurses and firefighters. I hope Kevin McCarthy will cherish his two years of speaker.

    Donna,

Yeah. I'm in favor of that, too...except for the Bill of Rights. Clever ploy, eh? Pump up the rabble by attacking the foundation of our constitutional republic.

HtS, maybe you don’t approve but it is popular that Biden is investing in infrastructure, expanding healthcare, addressing climate change and chip technology, expanding veterans’ benefits, the first gun safety law since Bill Clinton, and the lowest US unemployment rate in 50 years.

...and he's produced generationally high inflation and interest rates while breaking the bank.

You must have short generations in your family. The current 6% interest rate is the same as it was in 2008 and lower that it was in any of 27 years before 2008 (1981-2008).
