It's preposterous that Alec Baldwin is being charged in the shooting death of a cinematographer

Since the dawn of motion pictures, literally, cowboys and others have been shooting guns directly at or towards the camera. When not shooting at the camera, they are shooting at other actors. There are not supposed to be live rounds anywhere near a movie set. It's the job of the armorer to provide the actors with guns that are safely loaded with blanks.

It's also ridiculous that movies and TV shows use functioning guns capable of being loaded with actual bullets. The gunshot sound and even a puff of smoke could be added in post-production.

Baldwin was the producer of the film. The shooting is, ultimately, his responsibility. I'm wondering. If Baldwin were not such an SOB, would he be charged? If he doesn't take a plea deal, even with world-class lawyers, will his arrogance and narcissism get him a guilty verdict in front of a jury?

    HtS,
So in your way of thinking, because Alec Baldwin was a producer of the film, therefore he holds ultimate responsibility for the actions of those who work for him him. I don’t recall you using the same argument when Alan Weiselberg was found guilty of tax fraud. After all, he worked directly for Donald Trump.

For that matter, there’s been a number of people who worked for Trump, who have been convicted of crimes when Donald Trump was president and as a private business person. To be consistent, HtS, don’t you want Trump convicted with them?

In this case, Curt, Baldwin was holding the gun.

But to Baldwin at the time, he didn’t know that it was an actual gun loaded with at least one bullet capable of killing somebody. To him like every other actor on the set, he assumed it was a prop gun loaded with blanks. There is no evidence to think otherwise.

It was probably indicated in the script and indicated by the Director where Baldwin should be pointing and shooting the gun.

Baldwin also said the he didn't pull the trigger but every "expert" who examined the gun concluded that it couldn't discharge without the trigger being pulled. I've never confused Alec Baldwin with Mother Theresa.

Weisselberg was working for Donald Trump's corporation, not Donald Trump.

Baldwin was clowning around and shot the director of the film. That being said, it seems to me that the only guilty party was the person who was in charge of loading blanks into the gun.

Correction: He shot the cinematographer, not the director.

    Donna,
I have not heard that Baldwin was clowning around with the gun. Was it clowning or trying different "looks" and angles for the director?

"We are artists — we are not actual cowboys, actual cops, actual superheroes," [actor Steven] Pasquale said. "We are not Jason Bourne. I can’t even begin to imagine an actor having the responsibility of now needing to be the safety person on the set regarding prop guns. That's insane."

Another actor told the NY Times that in some cases the actors holding guns are children and some actors have no personal experience with guns. So they are not the best people to check that the prop gun is "cold".

According the Times, some actors claim they always personally check the guns they use in scene. Maybe. There are a lot scenes in movies in which one actor wrestles the gun away from another actor giving them no time to check the gun personally.

Maybe they do check their prop guns. But do they check the brakes on the cars used in chase scenes? What about pyrotechnics, do they check them out? There are also sorts of potentially lethal props used in movies and on TV. It cannot be the actors' responsibility to be safety managers.
