Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., suggested on Tuesday that voting for Democrats in November and winning the midterms would help them with hurricanes and climate change.

"We just did something about climate change for the first time in decades. That’s why we've got to win this as that hurricane bears down on Florida. We've got to win in the midterms. We understand that," Klobuchar said after listing several legislative wins during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

She also said that Republicans were talking about a "national abortion ban" and argued that abortion and climate change are reasons Democrats needed to win the midterms. Democrats currently hold majorities in the House and the Senate.
That's a lie. They're "talking about" Lindsey Graham's very moderate bill.

So. Talk about Big Government. Vote Dem. Stop hurricanes!!!!!! Baha

To bad for Florida. They have a GOP governor and legislature. I guess we now know why Massachusetts gets so few hurricanes, eh?

Donna- The US Constitution doesn't forbid that at all. It's up to the states.

Not all Constitutional scholars agree with that.

C'mon, Donna, gimme a break! The ACLU as a reasoned authority on the Constitution?

This is why some people think you are a high disinformation voter.

The truth is, it's what the current Justices of the Supreme Court think that's what's constitutional.

  7. by Donna on September 29, 2022 8:07 am

So you think that the only people who can be considered Constitutional scholars are those who agree with what olde dude posted?

I believe that RBG would have never said that if she didn't believe it. She was a staunch, unabashed liberal. I will take someone like that rather than someone toting their party's line and saying it isn't. Unless you know more than her about constitutional law.

    Donna,

pb's saying that the ACLU is an advocacy group. It presents numerous radical "friend of the court" briefs every year.

It's not regarded, by anyone, as a source of reasoned constitutional scholarship.

If you want to considered a "high information voter" you're going to have to demonstrate that you consult authorities that don't rubber stamp what you already believe.

For pb or OD to cite the ACLU would do that. For you? It screams, HIGH DISINFORMATION VOTER!!!!!

Here's a rule of thumb: If your source gives you an opportunity to DONATE before you get to your article? It's not scholarship!

    Do you not know this?

My point is also that Lindsey's bill is unconstitutional according to SCOTUS and would be struck down using the same elements of the constitution. Definitely not worth all the kerfuffle of any "what ifs."

Hts: Is this the ACLU topic thread you were referring to?
