Nearly a week after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, President Biden said he would support getting rid of the filibuster rule in order for Congress to codify the right to an abortion into law.
“I believe we have to codify Roe v. Wade into law,” Biden said Thursday at a press conference at the end of the NATO summit in Madrid. “And the way to do that is to make sure Congress votes to do that. And if the filibuster gets in the way — it’s like voting rights — it should be we provide an exception for this. We require an exception for the filibuster for this action.”
pb is fascinated.
pb hopes that the Senate won't do it. Not so long ago, Harry Reid changed the rule for confirming judges so that the filibuster didn't apply. Three words for you progressives: Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, ACB.
But, if the Senate does it, pb wants to see the Congressional Dems squirm. Few of them have the courage to pass the insanely radical Women's Health Protection Act...
...but Nancy and Chuck You will push and arm twist.
And, the depraved part of me wants them to succeed because, pro-life people have been organized to get out the vote for decades and you're looking at a 260+ GOP House and a certain GOP Senate...
...for, at least a decade.
But, probably, Dems won't be able to "codify Roe" because they won't be able to stop at Roe. Too many will demand abortion to the moment of delivery with no restrictions. And, GOPs will force Dems to do the baby killin on their own.
