I think it's still true that an old cell phone that has no service plan can still be used to make a 911 call. I wondered if a old cell without a service plan can still be pinged from a cell tower to get a GPS location. Anybody know?

    I think of lo-jack as a way to locate stolen cars--not cases of "where did I park?"

    For a cellphone to work as lo-jack, it would seem that there would need to be a way to keep it charged. Also the phone would need to be kept hidden and on silent. Also the phone should be a place inside the car where the reception isn't blocked.
