For a few days, Donna and I have been arguing the qualities of the GOPs and the Dems.
I have been pointing out that it's the GOP that is the party of inclusion, and that it's not even close.
The truth is that, to be a Dem you have to fall in line. To be a Dem is to hold strictly to a rigid orthodoxy.
To be a Dem is very much like being a Christian fundamentalist. To be a Christian fundamentalist is to hold unswervingly to five specific beliefs. If you don't believe all five, you ain't one of us. So they say.
These days, to be a Dem is to walk the chalk line...to stand in place ...to repeat the talking points. TO FOLLOW ALONG OR TO KEEP YOUR BIG MOUTH SHUT.
Think about what a scandal it is that Joe Manchin speaks his mind. Think about poor Kyrsten Sinema who doesn't say much but does vote her conscience. She can't even wee wee in a public restroom without being harassed.
Blue state Dems ran Covid like fascists. Requirements. Mandates. Dems run their party in the same way.
Republicans, on the other hand, run a party that oozes diversity.
The official GOP position is pro life. However, pro choice PACs have operated, still operate, openly within the party. In spite of the party's official position,
"In 2018, an NBC/Wall St Journal poll found that 52% of Republicans supported the Roe v Wade Supreme Court ruling and did not want said ruling to be overturned."
The truth is, it's the GOPs who are inclusive.
In my ongoing chat with Donna, I challenged her to consider Guy Benson.
For those who are proudly and willfully ignorant (baha, Curt), Guy Benson is the star of Fox News Radio, whose talk show airs during drive time in the east. DC GOPs and important right wing journalists beat each other up to guest on his show. Only in recent days, Liz Cheney and Bill Barr guested on his show.
Benson himself is a regular guest on Fox Business Channel shows and regularly appears as a panelist on America's most watched late night TV program, Fox News' GUTFELD!.
Fox News' Guy Benson is openly gay.
And,...back in the day, when Gavin Newsom was in hot water, when the recall petition had achieved the required number of signatures, many conservatives/libertarians/GOPs took a shot at running a campaign. One of them was transgender woman Caitlyn Jenner.
Jenner announced her candidacy on Fox News Channel on that popular late night show hosted by GOP loving Greg Gutfeld. (See link)
I've made the point to Donna that Guy Benson is the unquestioned star of Fox News Radio and that GOPs fly to the show like moths to the flame.
But, for a laugh, imagine talk show host Glenn Beck, who is anything but a traditional libertarian or conservative, reaching out to the Dems to function within their world. Talk about absurd humor!
Interestingly, Donna who is a transgender woman, seems to have been unable even to comprehend my real life based argument that the GOP has become the party of inclusion. As often as I begged her to comment, all she could come up with is that more LGBT people are Dems than GOPs. Duh.
The truth is that it's the Dems who are closed. Intolerant.
Try being a Dem who doesn't subjugate themself to the party's rigid orthodoxy. Ask Joe Manchin. Ask Kyrsten Sinema...who almost always submit...but not exactly always.
Ask transgender woman Caitlyn Jenner if a transgender woman can be accepted among GOPs. Ask Guy Benson if an openly gay man can be a leading influencer among Republicans.
