My name is Sara. My class has an assignment on the industrial revolution. Our project is to find out how the industrial revolution effected the quality of life in Great Britian. I need some information if you would be willing to help. Some of the background information I need is: What was the industrial rvolution? What was living in Britian like then? What was the quality of life like before the industrial revalution? What was the quality of life like after the industrial revolution? What was the quality of life like during the industrial revolution? What big advances were made in the industrial revolution? When was the indutrial revolution of Great Britian?
If you can help me with any of these questions or have some information that I could use please E-mail me I would be greatful. If you could get this information to me by Friday or at the latest Saturday I would be most greatful. Thanks again, Sara.
P.S: I read your essay on the two countries responsible for the industrial revolution and I thought it was excellent. I thought I would ask you for help on this subject because you seem to know a lot about the industrial revolution. If you can't help me then I would also be greatful if you would notify me today so I'm not dependent on your reply. Thanks.

Hello: Curt
Excellant site!
Since I'm in the sharpening business, Recently I've been looking for better sharpening machinery.
I found your company add in Popular Mechanics and entered your site. Glad I did too!
Todate I have three drill bit sharpeners used for the average wood and steel drill bit, which is mostly what I get in from my local sources.
Shortly I plan to expand my customer base into the local machine shops. At that time I'll be ready to make my purchase from Darex.
Thanks,
Tom

Dear Curt:
I am investigating your Web site and I am impressed! User friendly, actually gives information and is creative. My husband says, "They make Drill Doctor?? I never thought I could afford one and I have a lot of dull drills". Can you send him a catalog for the "average joe?" To: Ronald A. Mack, 580 Hawk Gulch Lane, Medford, OR 97501. Thanks!

I just learned about the Industial Marketing position at Darex and started my homework with your website. I'm impressed both with the quality and simplicity of it. I'm particularily impressed with the Darex Values. They match mine and I am going to enthusiastically apply for a spot on your marketing team. Hope to see you in September, Doug Pressel.

I purchased a Drill Doctor About One year Ago. I am a small Locksmith shop and have only sharpened 125 bitts to date. I was not happy with the quality of the job I was getting and thought it may have been beginers luck. I tried to resharpen some of the bitts when it appears that a bearing may have gone.
I am really disapointed with the quality of this product and was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to a better module.
P.S. I have not returned the unit for repair as yet waiiting to get your information. The people I am dealing with are not interested in helping me resolve any of my problems
Yours truly,
Craig Graham

Hi Skip,
Sounds like you're getting negative relief. Try setting the chuck arrow toward the + (plus) mark. Also over-grinding can cause negative relief. We'll be sending you an operations manual. Our technical service department will try to call you to better understand your problem. If you want, you can call
us first at 1 800-547-0222

I love my Drill Doctor. I was instrumental in
purchasing one of the industrial drill sharpeners for
RCC.
Your tools are of the very best quality and I wish
I could justify purchasing one of your end mill sharpeners.

Dear Jim- Glad to know that someone who has their own excellent site (Harvey Racing Engines) appreciates our modest efforts. I also know you sharpen drills professionally. I'd advise anyone who is contemplating buying an M5, to have Jim to sharpen a few of your drills. I'm sure Jim's and the M5's quality will impress you. -Curt PS:I left your phone number in because I know some folks may want to call you.

Gentlemen:
I have a model M5 with just about all the accessories.
It sharpens drills just fine! Good product!
However, the VMC Light "Handy Lamp" has fallen apart.
The end of the gooseneck rather easily came out of the
aluminum lamp scocket shell.
I fixed it by mounting the reflector and head of a cheap
(~$6.00) Chinese gooseneck lamp to the VMC gooseneck.
Did you know that the end of the goooseneck is Zinc or
potmetal cast around a small standard 1/8" straight pipe
nipple? I found this out when I tried to braze another
nipple on the end of what I thought was steel. Once
I melted the Zinc/potmetal away, I could use the existing
nipple to mount to the reflector of the Chinese lamp.
This appears to be a stronger setup than the VMC.

Dear Mike, Within the last year or so we changed lamp
design to a Moffit lamp. We saw the "light" so to speak. This change was to meet the stricter Canadian electrical codes and generally improve the product as you point out. See picture of M5. Happy to hear that you like the product--
and appreciate the extra effort you made. Regards, Curt

I own a M4 and I am waiting to receive the parts to
upgrade to M5. How can i grind a twist drill int a
piloted drill countersink? I don't semm to find this imformation in the manual included with the machine.
Thank You, Frank morrealeix.netcom.com
Dear Mr. Morreale, First I hope you read this, as I was unable to connect to you via the email address you supplied. Is the address correct? At any rate, I believe you are referring to a STEP DRILL OR SUBLAND STEP
DRILL which drills two different hole sizes with one drill. Use the #4600 Step drill attachment. The 4600 is $249. (See:Subland step drill instructions, M-series section)
Our product guide reads: #4600 Step drill attachment: Easily resharpens and produces step drills from standard drills in minutes. Sharpen drills with major diameters up to 3/4". Secondary angles 90 to 180 degree. Change over from standard to step drills takes only seconds. Uses standard 1/2" or 3/4 chucks. Are you doing this to have self-centering drills? If so your split point attachment may answer your needs. You can email me back if more information is needed or call or technical service number,1-800-547-0222 extension 606 Ask for Lorelie Bendickson.

You mention split point drills a lot in your advertising. What's it for?
Mel Schwartzburg Schwartz@Woodtec.com
Teaneck, NJ- Found this site in: PWW Woodworker CardDeck.
Dear Mel, Split point drills are used for self-centering, and lowering thrust.
(Lowering thrust will reduce the risk of broken drills, and extend drill life.) The points are excellent
for CNC equipment. Most Darex drill sharpeners will produce split point drills. See our FAQ to read about other drill point styles. Regards, Curt

I bought a Drill Doctor from Darex a while back. Here are my
impressions of it.
I'm quite pleased with the machine. I've never had much luck getting a
good point on drills when hand sharpening. I have a lot of dull drills
that were 'too good to throw away', and these are now getting
sharpened.
When I use the Drill Doctor correctly, the drills cut steel far better
than before sharpening. The holes seem closer to correct size, but I
don't have a good way to measure hole diameter accurately. New, cheap
drill bits cut noticeably better when resharpened. New, quality drill
bits seem about the same when resharpened.
I think the instructions need work. All the info is there, but I found
that it was easy to make mistakes. The text refers to the figures a
lot, but I found it pretty confusing to keep track of which figure the
text was talking about. Admittedly, I'm an engineer, but I TRY to follow
directions.
I had a lot of trouble getting my bits right in the holder. Here is a
list of what went wrong, as it occurred:
The picture of putting the bit in the pawls (setting the projection of
the bit beyond the holder) was not at all obvious to me. At first, I
set the bits exactly wrong. Obvious now (in retrospect), but a better
drawing or photo might help.
I then had trouble with insufficient relief on the trailing edge. The
trailing edge of the bit would rub when drilling, keeping me from
drilling a good hole. The first problem here was that I had mistakenly
left the machine set for web splitting, and didn't split the web. The
second problem was not grinding the drill all the way to done. I find
that if the drill is still making any noise on the wheel at all, then
I must keep grinding (at this point it is grinding the trailing edge
relief). More emphasis on this point in the instructions might be
good.
My final refinement (which has finally given me very nice,
consistently sharpened drills) is to pay close attention to getting
the bit in the right place when setting depth with the pawls. Not hard
to do, but if you don't do it carefully, drills don't sharpen as
nicely.
A very nice machine that I would not do without, in need of better
than the original instructions. Maybe a troubleshooting guide would
help.

and improved operators instructions which includes a troubleshooting guide.
