These additional comments courtesy of Sarka Pompova, a Briard owner. "Coat is long, soft to medium, goat-like, wavy, double coat. He requires extreme amount of grooming. From puppy to 2 1/2 - 3 years old his coat changes and he needs to be completely brushed every 2-3 days (one brushing is at least 2 hours). After that, once a week is enough. He is a guard dog (not just a watch dog) and very loyal. He is very reserved with strangers and he will protect the owner's house, car, etc. He needs to have just one owner, needs to be socialized, and played with. Spend quality time with him. He needs to have a purpose in life. He is absolutely not for everybody. He will suffer if left alone all day in backyard."
