The early bettin odds had Steve Scalise as a solid favorite to succeed Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. He's the number 2 GOP in the House. He wants it. And, in the old days, the GOP normally the elevated the next in line.

But, this ain't you father's Republican Party. In fact, these days, the Dems are your father's Republican Party. They fall in line. "Yes sir. No sir." Dems walk in lockstep. No question asked. Period. A case in point: Dems walked in lockstep... in perfect unity... in ousting Kevin McCarthy, the Wally Cox of the GOPs, from the House Speaker chair.

If Scalise takes over?, no big deal. Kevin McCarthy light.

However,...

...Trump's announced that he's backing Jim Jordan to be the next Speaker.

po'd want you to believe that pret'near every GOP in the House is MAGA. As usual, po's either deranged or lying...or, both. Still, many HouseGOPs are MAGA. They take their marching orders from Trump.

So?, what happens if Trump gets his way and Jim Jordan, in pb's mind, among the Top Five MAGA wackos, succeeds McCarthy as Speaker?

What happens is that, if there's any there there with "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" being guilty of High Crimes and Misdemeanors,...

...if Jim Jordan is Speaker, Joe Biden will be impeached, or Jim Jordan will die trying. And, that didn't have to be.

Hakeem Jeffries could have kept McCarthy in the Speaker's chair until Dems take the House back in 024.

In the McCarthy vote, every Dem walked in lockstep, as they do. So, Jeffries had the whole thing under his control.

All Jeffries had to do was call an adequate handful of purple district Dems into an informal off the cuff chat as tell them to vote to keep McCarthy. Doing so would have helped them with moderates and independents at home.

All Jeffries had to do was tell them that he'd do a little grumbling publicly but that they'd be taken care of with campaign finances...and they'd still have a GOP they could manage as Speaker.

But, Jeffries blew it.

There'll be a new Speaker. Trump’s inserted himself...

...and, Jim Jordan may become Speaker of the House.

pb, being the moderate that he is, thinks Jordan will be a disaster as Speaker, but, the side of pb that likes to see the Swamp curdle in its own juices thinks this could be fun.

D@ng fun.

And, if it happens? Hakeem Jeffries made it happen. Bahahahahahahahahahaha baha baha!

That actually was a decent analysis, Hts. And I agree with you.

Jamie Raskin on Jim Jordan...and Trump... and MAGA.

Whata maroon. And, certainly, what a Statesman! Raskin makes Jordan seem like Winston Churchill! Raskin convinces me that Trump is a necessary response to Dem sanctimony and fascism. Sometimes we forget.

Having seen this video, I'm tempted to think that Jordan as Speaker would be good for America!

    Still...
