Bill spent a lot of time talking about how the Democrats are so ill prepared to address the aftermath of the next presidential election when Trump, if he runs, and if he doesn't win outright, will assuredly claim that the election was rigged, and our democracy will then be at the mercy of Trump acolytes who will overturn the state election results where they're in control of the legislatures, and the US House, which will likely be under Trumplican control, will be in place to make it so.

Tavis and Adam didn't say anything that allayed my fears about that scenario happening.

Arizona, which is where Sheri and I will be living starting Dec 15th, will likely be one of the battlegrounds in 2024 and 2025. If things get too far out of hand, we're ready to jump ship and skedaddle off to Costa Rica.

Bill Maher Warns Adam Schiff About Trump and Jan. 6, 2025: ‘It’s Going To Get Very Violent Out There’

MAHER: What I care about is January 6, 2025. And as you know, because you wrote me a nice email after I did a piece a few weeks ago about what I thought was going to happen, the slow-moving coup which I’ve been talking about since before Trump was even elected. And if I could just review basically, I said that, you know, he thought last time that all the Republicans would fall in line with what he wanted and do his bidding, and they didn’t. Some had integrity. And what he’s been doing since is replacing those people. There’s a purge going on behind the scenes.

So next time, when he calls them up and says, 'I hope you can find me a few votes', they’re going to say 'how many'. He’s going to have his stooges in place. That is what you wrote me about. A lot of people did. I think it’s going to happen. I think you guys, the Democrats are going to lose big in 2022, too, which is going to make it worse, meaning more state legislatures that can do that kind of monkeying behind the scenes to put the people in place who will do Trump’s bidding. I think Trump is going to declare for office. I think he’s going to get the nomination. I think the rallies are going to start. People are going to be... it’s going to get very violent out there.

My question is, what are we doing about the next time? The election happens, say Trump loses, doesn’t matter whether he if he loses, he’s going to say he won. We know that. There’s no doubt he’s going to say 'I won', and this time he’s not going to go away so easily come January 20th, 2025. What are we doing about that? When he is insisting that he is the president, whether he won or not, and there are people who are helping him with it?

SCHIFF: Well, I’m in complete agreement with the alarm that you express and you feel about this because I think what Donald Trump took away from the failed insurrection is that if he couldn’t find, you know, 11,000 votes in Georgia, couldn’t find a corrupt elections official to give him those votes, he’s determined that next time he’ll have someone in that position who will. And basically, it’s a two pronged strategy. They’re trying to disenfranchise people of color around the country so that they can win. And if they lose, they want to be positioned to overturn the result.

Where I would disagree with your forecast, I hope and pray, is we cannot lose the House. We must hold the House. If Kevin McCarthy had been speaker in 2020, if we’d lost a few more seats in the 2020 election in the House, he would have overturned the result in the House. He will do whatever Donald Trump tells him to do. Someone like that can never be allowed to go near the speaker’s office.

    ***

When Schiff said "Where I would disagree with your forecast, I hope and pray, is we cannot lose the House. We must hold the House", he wasn't disagreeing with Maher's forecast - he's just hoping that Maher's forecast turns out to be wrong.

    Donna,

This is classic TDS, though I realize that you're incapable of recognizing it because it controls you.

What's going on here is the Blue MAGAs creating a narrative for challenging the result of the 024 election. Even if the GOP candidate wins the Electoral College by a hundred votes, s/he won't campaign in California or New York or New England and will lose the popular vote.

Also, the GOPs won't be able to claim much in the way of shenanigans in 024 because the election integrity laws, which will be in place by then, won't give them much room to squawk.

No, the new election integrity laws are forcing the Dems to find new ways to cheat. This is, clearly, one of them.

  3. by Donna on November 13, 2021 3:09 pm
What they were talking about has nothing at all to do with the popular vote. Biden won the electoral vote, which Trump and most of the rest of the party he controls contested, but without a shred of evidence. And if not for a few Republicans who had integrity, Trump and his party may have succeeded in overturning the election results without providing a shred of evidence. Since then, Trump and his party have been quietly replacing those people so that if Trump loses the electoral vote in 2024, they might overturn it.

There is nothing "deranged" about what I said. You lob that invective with so much regularity because you're unable to make your case using facts or evidence.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on November 13, 2021 3:23 pm

    ...without a shred of evidence...

    C'mon man, gimme a break!

We'll always go around in circles over this derangement thing.

There's a ton of irrationality in your side's fixation on Trump. You're already planning and scheming over stolen elections and Joe hasn't even celebrated his first Christmas...heck, Thanks effin giving in the Oval Office.

  5. by Donna on November 13, 2021 3:34 pm
Typical response. No substance, just the usual accusations of "irrationality" and "derangement".

  6. by HatetheSwamp on November 13, 2021 3:49 pm

For cryin out loud, Donna. The effin 022 election is a year off. Trump hasn't announced his candidacy.

And, y'nes are already pitchin hissies about Trump stealing the next election.

Even YOU can't tell me that's rational.

  7. by Donna on November 13, 2021 4:27 pm
Of course it's rational to be concerned about that, especially because he's giving every indication that he'll run for president in 2024.

Who, from way back, on the old forum, used to say, "I rest my case?"

    I rest my case.

    Bahahahahahahaha

    Donna,

    Well, Tulsi, for sure.

But, what happened in the Dem Primary is that the candidates quickly began to try to out wacko the other...

...so that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" was perceived as being a moderate alternative to Bernie.

What I yearned for was a serious alternative to Trump in the GOP primary.

  10. by Donna on November 15, 2021 4:56 am
Tulsi Gabbard endorsed Joe Biden, and I don't think she's in politics anymore.

I don't believe that you'd vote for any Democrat over Trump.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on November 15, 2021 7:39 am

    Donna,

Tulsi is not in politics for the moment. She's still young so she may return.

She did endorse the flatulent fool, but what was she supposed to do?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall Tulsi being a powerful force for Joe on the stump during the campaign.

And, you're right. I may have voted for Tulsi, but what was the chance that the same party that nominated Hillary was going to nominate her.

You may recall that, back in 016, I was determined to vote for Gary Johnson as a third party protest vote but Evie convinced me, two days before the election to vote for Trump. I probably would have voted third party in 020 if I didn't vote for Trump.

And, honestly, to amend my account of how I felt when I voted for Trump...

... I didn't feel much of anything at the moment because the SwampMedia had convinced me that Hillary was a shoo in. I actually had a slight glimmer of trust in the MSM then.

But, when I realized that he won, I had a few squeamish moments. And, on Inauguration day, I felt bad about what I'd done to America.

  12. by Donna on November 15, 2021 8:35 am
"She did endorse the flatulent fool, but what was she supposed to do?"

Oh I don't know, maybe not endorse Biden?

  13. by HatetheSwamp on November 15, 2021 8:52 am

Well, that would have been a minute nod to Trump. Even the most filthy congressional GOPs didn't openly, fall out of line...until after the swipe was certain.
