Conservative blowback after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday night ripped apart a copy of President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech intensified Wednesday as Vice President Mike Pence called it a "new low". It amuses me how conservatives love to accuse liberals of being "snowflakes" for their supposed hypersensitivity. Yet it is the conservatives who get bent out shape by even a slight act of defiance such as the impromptu act of tearing in half the copy of a speech.
Pence, who sat to Pelosi's right during the speech, said Wednesday that he did not see when she tore up the speech. He joined fellow Republicans in criticizing her behavior.
"I found out just a few moments later, and I think it was a new low," he said Wednesday on "Fox & Friends." "I wasn't sure if she was ripping up the speech or ripping up the Constitution." Trump's speech is comparable to the US Constitution? That is a nauseating remark.
Pence looks on lovingly during the SOTU speech
Vice-President Mike Pence has never been shy about supplicating himself to President Trump. "I'd like my wife to look at me just for one day the way Mike Pence looks at President Trump every day they're together. That would be special," said Kenneth Adelman, who served in the Reagan administration.
A manifesto of mistruths
"He shredded the truth so I shredded his speech," Pelosi told House Democrats during a closed-door caucus meeting, according to sources in the room. Like she did the night before, she called his 90-minute address "a manifesto of mistruths."
Fact-checking Donald Trump's 2020 State of the Union address
To Pelosi's point about mistruths, fact checkers found a lot to criticize in Trump's address. Politifact rated several of Trump's false statements and exaggerations.
"I've also made an ironclad pledge to American families: We will also protect patients with pre-existing conditions."
This repeated line is Pants on Fire. His administration is doing the opposite in court.
"Over 130 legislators in this chamber have endorsed legislation that would bankrupt our nation by providing free taxpayer-funded health care to millions of illegal aliens, forcing taxpayers to subsidize free care for anyone in the world who unlawfully crosses our borders."
Half True.
Last year, "for the first time in 51 years, the cost of prescription drugs actually went down."
Mostly False.
"Our military is completely rebuilt."
This hasn’t happened. The Trump administration has increased military spending, but rebuilding the military would require new equipment that can take years to build and develop.
"After decades of flat and falling incomes, wages are rising fast — and, wonderfully, they are rising fastest for low-income workers, who have seen a 16% pay increase since my election. This is a blue collar boom."

Says he enacted "historic and record-setting tax cuts."
False.
"Thanks to our bold regulatory reduction campaign, the United States has become the No. 1 producer of oil and gas anywhere in the world, by far."
The United States is the world’s top producer of oil and natural gas. But Trump is taking too much credit. This not a new feat.
The United States has been the world's largest oil producer since 2012 and the top natural gas producer for years.
