Was Trump supporter Katie Britt caught in whopping lie about graphic sex trafficking story?

During her widely panned Republican response to the State of the Union Address on Thursday night, Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama told a graphic sex-trafficking story about a woman who was sexually abused “over and over” by members of Mexican drug cartels on the United States side of the Rio Grande.

Britt implied also that the woman had confided the story to her and that the events had occurred during President Biden’s administration.

But reporter Jonathan Katz, in a lengthy video posted to social media, connects the dots on the story, and it appears Britt lied: The woman has told her story many times publicly, including to Congress; the events didn’t occur in the United States; and they happened during George W. Bush’s presidency.

So the rape trees are part of this "fiction?" I always figured you would call anything referencing the rapes by coyotes being fictional, and supporting the cartels. My guess for your own real perversions.

She was using a trick right out of the liberal playbook. You sheep used it with the Duke Lacrosse team after they were acquitted. "well it could happen anywhere! so it's true." Don't be pissed when turnabout is fair play.

Curt and his Holy Trinity. Ba!

    HtS,
I've never been sure what constitutes the "holy trinity" of news media that you bemoan. I figured that three might include the NY Times, WaPo, MSNBC, or maybe a CNN, NPR, HuffPo, NBC, CBS, ABC, Reuters, AP, Scripps, Bloomberg, Politico, UPI or other other established news source(s).

Apparently there are few sources outside of RNC tweets that you trust as credible. I recall you saying that you trusted TheHill.com.

Chip Roy says Katie Britt thrown ‘to the wolves’ in SOTU response
    [...]
[Sen. Katie] Britt was also criticized for using a story of sexual violence from two decades ago in Mexico as an attack on President Biden. She later said the anachronistic story was still emblematic of problems with Biden’s border policy, but [Rep. Chip] Roy chalked the issue up to a lack of preparation by her party handlers.

He said Britt was left “without fact-checking [for] the speech to help protect her from making an error with an outdated anecdote, & thus allow radical progressive democrats to make THAT the story rather than their dangerous, purposeful open border policies endangering Americans.”

Roy said Britt’s speech distracted from policy issues the GOP wanted to focus on and called on Republican voters to reject the leadership.

    I'll say it again.

She was using a trick right out of the liberal playbook. You sheep used it with the Duke Lacrosse team after they were acquitted. "well it could happen anywhere! so it's true." Don't be pissed when turnabout is fair play.

And you really hit a horrible low when you little germans don't let your own tactics turned on you. All I can say is the GOP is tired of what you've done and be prepared. They're going to turn it on you now.

    OD,
I am sure that Sen. Britt appreciates your defense of her untrue apocryphal tale. You aren't saying her story was not a total fabrication or that she didn't lie bald-facedly to America but that the Duke Lacrosse team were also victims of scurrilous accusations two decades ago.

No, I'm saying that if one is true, then by definition, the other must be true. If one is false, then by definition, the other is false. You can't ride two horses being one ass.

    OD,
I don't believe now and never accepted either story as true. Btw, it was a Democrat who ended the prosecution of the Duke Lacrosse team. It was the "liberal" media including CBS News that cast doubt on the rape accusations.

The dismissal of all charges against three white Duke lacrosse players on Wednesday ended a year-long nightmare for David Evans, Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty that began when an African-American stripper accused them of gang-raping her at a team party.

In no uncertain terms, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper [a Democrat, who is the current NC governor] said his review of the case made it clear that they had been the victims of a troubled woman's false allegations and a rogue prosecutor's rush to accuse.

Of course you would get that information that cbs was the stalworth of virtue. From CBS.....

    Prosecutor Nifong's actions
    Possible political motivation

At the time the rape allegations were made in March 2006, Mike Nifong was in the midst of a difficult Democratic primary election campaign to keep his position as Durham County District Attorney, facing strong opposition. It was understood that if Nifong lost the primary, he would very likely lose his job. Some commentators have opined that Nifong's prosecution of the Duke lacrosse players and his many statements to the media were driven by his political strategy to attract African-American voters. The primary was held on May 6, 2006, and Nifong won by a slim margin of 883 votes. Results showed Nifong won the primary on the basis of strong support from the black community. Nifong went on to win the general election in November 2006, although by a lower margin than usual for Democratic candidates in Durham County at that time.[111]

    Prosecution's chief investigator
Nifong hired Linwood E. Wilson as his chief investigator. During Wilson's private detective career, at least seven formal inquiries into his conduct were performed. In 1997, Wilson was reprimanded by the state commission. After his appeal of the decision was rejected, he allowed his detective license to expire. In response to criticism, Wilson stated that no one had ever questioned his integrity. On June 25, 2007, shortly after Nifong's disbarment and removal from office, it was reported that Nifong's replacement, interim district attorney Jim Hardin Jr., fired Wilson from his post...[112]

On June 16, 2007, the North Carolina State Bar ordered Nifong disbarred after the bar's three-member disciplinary panel unanimously found him guilty of fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation; of making false statements of material fact before a judge; of making false statements of material fact before bar investigators, and of lying about withholding exculpatory DNA evidence.[128]

Following the state bar's announcement, Nifong submitted a letter of resignation from his post as Durham County district attorney, that would have become effective in July 2007. However, on June 18, Durham Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson ordered that Nifong be immediately removed from office.[129]

And something I thought I would never say. Isles post on invented narratives was good. I agree with her on almost every point Terri made. Well written. DANG! so it looks like I might have to read these more!
