1. What will President Biden say about the Hamas/Israel war?

2. Over/Under: Biden mentions Trump BY NAME. 1 1/2.

3. Will he offer an olive branch to GOPs, encouraging them to cooperate in forming a bipartisan approach to the immigration crisis or condemn them for being the problem?

4. Will the President come across as Grandpa Joe or the curmudgeon who yells at neighborhood kids, "GET OFF MY LAWN?" On a scale of 10, 0 being curmudgeon/10 being gramps.

Word on the right is that Joe is going to taunt GOPs and that Mike Johnson is telling his fellow GOPs to conduct themselves with decorum.

    We'll see how that goes.

Surprisingly to pb about himself, pb loves the pomp and circumstance of SOTU night... when the President enters to the applause of Congress, in the presence of the Justices of the Supreme Court in spite of passionate partisan and ideological differences. That tradition is a tribute, showing respect to the Constitution... no matter how fierce personal and partisan differences may be.

Because my GOP party is the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, diversity, tolerance and freedom, it goes without saying that I can oppose Boebert et.al. as easily as you, Curt, or po, or isle might. That freedom comes with my GOP membership.

Booing, to me, is inappropriate during the SOTU event. I cringed last year at the behavior of "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" and of the GOPs whose behavior was more like what's the norm in England's House of Commons.

(BTW, at the height of his dementia journey, there were moments that my dad would goad people into a response... and, if they did respond, he'd get a demented twinkle in his eye. Last year, during the SOTU, I saw that exact twinkle in Joe's eyes.)

Anyway, I love the pomp of the evening. I'm chagrined about last year. I hope Johnson gets his way tonight.

I expect Biden to remind (and in some cases inform) voters of his economic accomplishment. Biden and the Democrats have to correct misconceptions and misinformation. For example, did you know?

An unemployment rate 3.7% at the start of Biden's fourth year in office was lower than every other president's in the last 50 years.

Wages and salaries have risen much faster under Biden than under Trump.

During Biden's first three years more U.S. manufacturing jobs created 791,000 manufacturing jobs created. That's more than Trump's first three years.

Biden, in his first three years, oversaw +3.4% G.D.P. growth.

Black unemployment dipped below 5 percent for the first time on record under Biden.

As for the stock market, the S&P 500 has reached an all-time high under Biden.

    Curt,

I know that the economic numbers look good. I could not have cited the particulars. And, I'm surprised that Joe's approval for his handling of the economy is so low. (-16.9 RCP)

I can only guess that voters blame him for the cumulative inflation since he placed his hand on the Bible. And, there's his dismissal of citizens' pain in, falsely, claiming that inflation will be transitory.

Food prices are higher. Gas prices, too.

But, still, IMO, Joe's numbers should be better.
