Democrats on the Oversight Committee emerged from the deposition room to accuse their Republican counterparts of engaging in an “embarrassing spectacle.”

“I believe, based on this first hour, that this whole thing really has been a tremendous waste of our legislative time and resources,” said Representative Jamie Raskin, of Maryland, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee.

Representative Nancy Mace, Republican of South Carolina, said Mr. Biden had not invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

You are truly a Kierkegaardian, Curt. Leap of faith, and all.

It was about this time in the day when Hunter's Uncle Jim was testifying that you were celebrating his victory over the GOP buffoons... only to find Comer and Jordan on Hannity's set that evening high fiving and head butting each other over the devastating inability of Jim to speak truth compared to their documentation.

And, bubba? Rolling Stone?... makes each Person of your Holy Trinity seem like Sean Hannity 24/7, baha baha haha ha baha ha!

The pressure is on the Republicans to present a tangible case against Joe Biden (and not Hunter who admits to his faults). Unsubstantiated allegations, conspiracy theories and innuendoes won't be enough.

    As the NY Times wrote:

In his opening statement, Hunter Biden mocked the way Republicans have relied on accused criminals to build the case against his father.

“Rather than follow the facts as they have been laid out before you in bank records, financial statements, correspondence and other witness testimony, you continue your frantic search to prove the lies you, and those you rely on, keep peddling,” he said. “Yes, they are lies.”

The deposition is the culmination of a multiyear Republican pursuit of Mr. Biden, whose business dealings and descent into debauchery have long made him a punching bag for the G.O.P. After years of asking “Where’s Hunter?” and spreading the lurid contents of a laptop that contained graphic material of his exploits while he struggled with drug addiction, Republicans finally had their chance to question him.

This is the big moment that MAGA Republicans have been pining for for over a year.

If the House Republicans aren't totally incompetent and inept, they should be prepared to refute then and there any false statements given under oath by Hunter Biden.

My prediction: Soon James Comer, Jim Jordan and the other committee members will silently fold their tents and steal away into the night.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on February 28, 2024 12:48 pm

Along with my prediction that you'd make this very prediction, demand the resignation of Pope Francis and the elevation of Hunter to the role of Holy Father.

One open question: Should he go by Pope Hunter?, or choose another name, as has become the practice in recent centuries...

Pope Joseph, perhaps!!!!? Baha baha ha!

As Republicans grilled Hunter Biden on Wednesday about his business deals overseas, the president’s son turned the question back on his interrogators.

He asked GOP lawmakers about foreign investments secured by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former President Trump, shortly after he left the White House, according to Democrats participating in the closed-door deposition.

“He drew the distinction between what he has done in a business world with independent businessmen, versus foreign governments, which he did not do any business with — unlike Jared Kushner,” Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) said during a break in the testimony.
    [...]
Still, Democrats said there appeared to be agreement among at least some Republicans when Hunter Biden brought up Kushner’s Saudi deal.

“There’s no cameras in there, [so] Donald Trump ain’t watching, right?” said Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.). “For the first time Republicans said they do have a problem with that. But they should do something about it.”

We take you now live to the losers' locker room...

James Comer is finally, hilariously, giving up on the Biden investigation.
House Oversight Chair James Comer is finally laying down his cards. Republicans’ Biden corruption impeachment crusade is over, at least for now.

“I am ready to try to begin to close this investigation,” Comer told reporters in the Capitol Wednesday. “This has been a very difficult investigation. This administration has been very obstructive. They haven’t been cooperative, [feels] like we are having to battle the Department of Justice and the FBI on a daily basis to get basic information.”

“Many of our witnesses that we brought in would be what I consider hostile witnesses, but at the end of the day I think with every interview we’ve learned new information and the basis of what we’ve learned is that the Bidens didn’t have a legitimate business,” he said.

He actually contradicted known and written evidence several times. That's a reason to treat him as a liar. Which is fine. That's why they brought him in to give his disposition. He can say what he wants, but that's compared to other evidence. If he lies, he's in violation of federal law. They're setting him up for a federal trial.

Maybe, OD, we shall soon see if the Republicans can build a case against Hunter for perjury or maybe something else. I doubt that they have anything. I also bet that Hunter didn't lie before Congress. Let's see if James Comer can prove me wrong...the clock is ticking. He needs to make a case for for impeachment or drop it.

I know that Nancy Mace said that Hunter Biden was being “defiant and dishonest,” saying some of his answers were “in direct conflict with other witnesses,” though she would not elaborate on what she was referring to. I suspect that she is thinking that Hunter is contradicting Tony Bobulinski, who is less than credible as he is a paid and prominent Trump supporter.

Regardless or whether or not they nail Hunter with something, it's not an impeachment case against Joe Biden.

The inconsistencies are with many of the emails from the computer. They could do a couple of things. Congress could go through the process of legally charging pedojr. I doubt if that will happen. Congress doesn't have a whole lot of juice to do that. "Maybe" the most that will happen is a reference to DOJ.

And this was just a disposition. It's a hearing to see if he knows enough to have a hearing. So they could bring him in for further questioning. Or not. They could just say "he lied" and make it appear he couldn't be trusted with anything he said.

Obviously, I didn't think it was anything "special" about anything that happened on either side.

Why you lie, Curt, when you're so easily busted, I don't know.

Are you emulating your Doddering Old lord and savior?

As "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" said regarding the Burisma bribe, "Son of a bitch!"

Comer, Jordan and Smith spiking the ball after Hunter’s deposition. They seem positively ebullient, ain't, Curt?:

curt- Regardless or whether or not they nail Hunter with something, it's not an impeachment case against Joe Biden.
The tie-in is that both pedojoe and pedojr are lying about pedojoe's knowledge of the scope and details of what jr was doing. That has a direct affect on the impeachment. It isn't that "bobski said," it's a matter of evidence DOJ/FBI stated was confirmed, factual, and valid. And it's in writing.
