Thanks to the efforts to undermine the American government by Matt Gaetz and other MAGA Republicans, congressional disapproval, at 74%, is at its worst since May of 2018. Republicans have exhibited their governing incompetence for three speaker-less weeks. They finally elevated a largely unknown election denier named Mike Johnson. His MAGA credentials will be used against Republicans in the upcoming elections.

Johnson's extremist views might play well in his Louisiana district but they won't be popular with the majority of American voters. His lack of congressional experience doesn't inspire confidence. We already know that Republicans are not good at vote counting or good at the fundamentals of a democratic government: seeking compromise.

Democrats will happily exploit these MAGA gifts. Harry Truman ran against "a do-nothing Congress" in 1948. Biden can run against a cannot do anything Congress in 2024.

    Fact: Johnson is no more an election denier than his counterpart.

    Here are 13 times Jeffries denied election results.
    Jeffries said, "there is a cloud of illegitimacy around the election of Donald Trump" because of the "fake news industry.”

    pb watched his speech accepting the gavel. If you expect him to be perceived as a MAGA wacko, I'm pretty sure you'll be disappointed. He came across as soft-spoken and mild-mannered...not far from Wally Cox.

    And, compared to Jeffries?!, he's a man of grace and authenticity.

    And, Curt, that gay Guy you never heard of describes him as a "generic Republican." He oozes liability.

    If he, not Trump, becomes the face of the GOP, expect a GOP clean sweep in 024.

    And I just saw a clip of Matt Gaetz telling Steve Bannon in an interview that Mike Johnson's election to the Speaker is proof of MAGA's ascendancy. He couldn't be happier that such a Flaming MAGA Hat got the job.
