Democracy Now went corporate a long, long time ago. They're still allowed to post obvious stuff like this - but they can't step out of line like they once did.

  2. by Donna on October 10, 2023 10:15 am

    Not Left enough, huh?

    You're ridiculous.

  3. by Ponderer on October 10, 2023 10:20 am

Hon, weren't those the exact words that we knew he was gonna say...?

    🤣

  4. by Donna on October 10, 2023 10:32 am

I would expect nothing less from a burn it all down type.

Back to the topic. Looks like Israel is out-terrorizing Hamas.

Gaza homes, schools and medical institutions flattened by Israeli airstrikes, Palestinian authorities sayFrom CNN’s Celine Alkhaldi in Jerusalem

Homes, schools, medical institutions and government buildings were flattened in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes continued Tuesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Information said in a statement.

Here's a breakdown provided in the statement:

    Buildings:

Fully destroyed: 168 buildings, including 1,009 residential unitsPartially destroyed: 12,630 residential units were partially destroyed.

Medical institutions: 10 bombed, including seven hospitals were bombed

Ambulances: 12 ambulances have been directly targeted

    Schools: 48 schools destroyed

    Government buildings: 23 destroyed

Five medical personnel and seven journalists were killed, and displaced people in Gaza are now taking shelter in 70 centers due to continued airstrikes, the statement said.

A commentator on TV yesterday said that he expects Israel to ignore Hamas's warning that they'll execute one hostage for every home Israel destroys without prior warning the occupants.

...y'know in response to, as po'd say, last EFFINweek!!!!

Viewing this as someone who starts out essentially neutral, as I do, it seems to me that you, Donna, and po have a predetermined bias against Israel. Previously, you noted that Israel is evil for cutting off water to Palestine...in response to the rapes and murders of the innocent.

It's true that all of us bring our preferences and prejudices to every moment of our lives. Why Israel?

    Where's that come from?

  7. by Donna on October 10, 2023 12:01 pm

I have a bias against evil, no matter who's engaging in it.

"Viewing this as someone who starts out essentially neutral, as I do, it seems to me that you, Donna, and po have a predetermined bias against Israel." -Hate

Bill, I don't know how many more times I will have to mention it, and probably no amount of times will ever suffice since understanding it would require a basic sense of human empathy, but I am a sucker for an underdog.

And from a historical perspective, Palestine and Palestinians have been the underdog in this whole Middle East situation for the better part of a century. If you want to know what started this, it would take hours of explanation.

And having learned a little about the history of Israel's treatment of the people of the Occupied Territories throughout those decades, assigning Palestinians the status of underdog is an almost insulting understatement.

Did you ever find the quote where I said "burn it all down"?

    🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗

And of course you still believe Democracy Now is "left" - the parrot the Ds who you also still think are "left".

They demanded their own separate country. Period. They got it. They haven't done crap with it. If there's anyone to blame it's first and foremost, the owners of the land, the PLO. Then Hamas on the west bank. And Iran who owns Hamas. Iran could do the right thing but they're always hiding weapons in the shipping that is supposed to carry food, water, medical equipment. All the things people should have but can't get because of their crooked governments.

Oh. The idea of the open air jail? Over 80% of the people live in cities. I'm not saying it's rosy, but there is an infrastructure there. It's not an open area of tents and camels.

  11. by Donna on October 10, 2023 12:38 pm

I don't mean with fire. Burn it all downers like you are fed up with everything and have no constructive or viable strategy to improve our country.

Making lists of what's wrong is easy. Having a viable plan to get there is the hard part - the part that the burn it all downers are out to lunch on. It's an immature mindset.

  12. by Ponderer on October 10, 2023 12:40 pm

Indy!, everything and everybody is to the right of you.

od - How do you figure that Palestinians got their own country when Israel surrounded all of Gaza with miles and miles of walls and barbed wire fences and in the West Bank a series of checkpoints that make going anywhere a nightmare?

Have you ever read a critique of those proposals you castigated Palestinians for rejecting?

  15. by Indy! on October 10, 2023 12:55 pm

My strategy has been posted on these boards many times - lift up third parties because the two party system has failed. Like the MAJORITY of Americans - I have removed myself from adhering to one of the two major parties. You don't like the strategy, so you pretend there is no strategy. But even when I did support one of the parties - I still spoke the truth about those aspects of the party who's words were not supported by their actions - like the current version of Democracy Now, Joe Biden, AOC and all the other poseurs you blindly support because the words make you feel warm and fuzzy.

Indy!, everything and everybody is to the right of you.

This is actually true to some degree (and I can prove it as well). However the other side of the coin is all the major issues I support - the ones elections are (allegedly) based on - are mainstream ideas supported by the majority of Americans (including a large portion of the Rs). Heck, even OD and I agree on some things - but you'd never hear him say it out loud. Things like healthcare for all, fair wages, higher taxes on the wealthy, less military misadventures, ending the weapons sales to Ukraine... are all positions in the majority. The only REAL opposition to those ideas comes from... where? The two parties themselves - the people actually in power. That's why it's so sad to hear you say something like there is a chance to change the Ds from within when that theory has been tested our entire lives and never gets anywhere.

  17. by Ponderer on October 11, 2023 9:13 am

So anyone who doesn't do exactly what you want them to exactly as you want it done and doesn't do anything that you don't want them to do is a poseur.

    Got it.

    Thanks.

  18. by Indy! on October 11, 2023 10:32 am

No, anyone who lies about supporting something and then doing exactly the opposite - like AOC saying she wants to "raise a ruckus" and then wimps out everytime she has the opportunity is a "poseur". People who follow the poseurs and pretend like they're effective or actually trying to make real change are merely dupes.

  19. by Ponderer on October 11, 2023 10:46 am

I already said that I got it, Indy!.

    Thanks.

  20. by Indy! on October 11, 2023 11:08 am

Based on what you said in "your" previous post, looks like Donna is posting for you again.

  21. by oldedude on October 11, 2023 4:58 pm
Heck, even OD and I agree on some things - but you'd never hear him say it out loud.

I have actually made an effort of showing where you and I agree. So keep looking for it. When it happens, I'm glad to agree with people.

  22. by oldedude on October 11, 2023 5:06 pm
Donna- The reason why Hamas did this where they did and how they did was to take footage of the carnage the Israelis left in their wake. That's it. If there people weren't expendable before, they certainly are now. Syria, Iran, and Palestine are hoping for a lot of dead people. They are going to do the same thing ISIS did. Throw a bunch of bodies in one place, throw some dust on them and take a picture. My guess is that they're taking pictures of their shit right now to blame on the Israelis. This is part of Asynchronous warfare.

Why I bring this up is your references (like 90% of humans) don't know what this entails. So it's not you, kinda not them. Just be aware of it and watch.

  23. by Indy! on October 11, 2023 8:55 pm

I will keep an eye out, OD. I do remember a couple times - that's why I said that.
