You can search for other examples of headlines and news reports, but you will have a hard time finding any that paint today's hearing as any sort of win for the Republicans.

Obviously Republicans are doing this at the behest of Donald Trump, so he won't be only general election candidate who has been impeached. Their goal was to hurt Biden politically, especially among independent voters. But there was no smoking gun presented today. Other than the nodding heads watching FOX News or NewsMax, few people will view this as a GOP win.

In his prepared opening statement, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer said the panel has "uncovered a mountain of evidence" and claimed Biden used his official government role for his family's gain. But Comer and his Republican colleagues have yet to provide clear evidence clearly backing up this massive allegation of wrongdoing.

GOP struggles to find footing in first Biden impeachment hearing
(The Hill)The Republican impeachment inquiry into President Biden got off to a rocky start on Thursday as the GOP sought to stress a need for the investigation while Democrats argued they had done little to advance the specter of wrongdoing by the man they aim to remove from office.

Republicans open Biden impeachment inquiry with focus on son's business dealings
WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Republicans leading an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden detailed foreign payments to members of his family in their first hearing on Thursday, but did not provide evidence that the Democratic president had personally benefited.

Republicans leading an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden detailed foreign payments to members of his family in their first hearing on Thursday, but did not provide evidence that the Democratic president had personally benefited.

If I remember correctly, this is the investigation portion of the case, is it not? If so, then many of the questions are not available as it is in EVERY investigation. You're "ass uming" the GOP is taking the same roads as the dims, which they're not. Please to compare the two. you'll make an ass out of yourself.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on September 28, 2023 4:24 pm

As I noted earlier, as po'd say, one EFFINday.

You saw Jonathan Turley feeling the need to defend himself against Dem personal attacks, for the sake of his children. On EFFINday one. Clearly, the Dems on the Committee know what's coming. And, they're already going bonkers. Keehee!

I can't wait to see the GOP political ads. Baha.

"As I noted earlier, as po'd say, one EFFINday." --HtS

That's been the refrain from Republicans since they embarked on their impeachment quest: We will provide evidence against Joe Biden one day, someday, soon, next week... but never now.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on September 28, 2023 4:56 pm

You have the most extraordinary childlike faith...

...that the Former Trucker ain't juss a typical DC Swamp corrupt politician.

What are the odds of that!!!!!?

    HtS,
I don't need faith to be an atheist. Want to change my mind? Show me a miracle or anything that cannot be explained with rational means.

I don't need faith to be unimpressed with GOP's impeachment farce. Want to change my mind? Show me some evidence or anything that cannot be explained with rational means.

Are we still pretending like the GOP actually wanted to impeach Biden?

That's true. Dogs and monkeys are the same way. They have zero understanding of "dead" other than "gone." And are none the wiser about gone. Neanderthals had the cranial capacity to understand "death." I pity the poor subhuman that doesn't.

    OD,
Do you think something special happens when humans die? I mean something different than roadkill, a rat killed in trap, bugs you squash underfoot or the "deceased" vegetables in your compost pile?

  10. by oldedude on September 28, 2023 8:47 pm
At least I have the understanding that most hominoids have had since the Neanderthals were in existence.

You are too modest. I would say you have the same understanding as Neanderthals.

First, that isn't really new, but it is true.

You just proved you understand less than Neanderthals, and maybe about the same as chimps, who like dogs, etc. also don't have a concept of death.

"If I remember correctly, this is the investigation portion of the case, is it not?" -olde dude

Yes it is. And by this portion of the case, there is supposed to be actual evidence to investigate. You know, something to build a case on...?

It's a bit third world banana republic-like to take a political opponent to court and then try to find something that they did wrong.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on September 29, 2023 7:13 am

And by this portion of the case, there is supposed to be actual evidence to investigate. You know, something to build a case on...?

Well, there is evidence, notwithstanding the cover-up being conducted by Curt's Holy Trinity.

But, po. pb knows you're not this stupid. Curt, maybe. You?, nuh uh. I regularly ask Curt if he's joshin. I know that you're incapable of that.

Willful? Convenient?, ignorance? Which? There's been one day of Impeachment Inquiry.

    Two truths for you:

    1. The GOP merely wants to prove that the Flatulent Fool is a typical Swamp politician. How hard will that be to prove, do you suppose?

    2. This is to accumulate audio and video material for campaign ads. And, curiously, the more of that stuff Dems get on Trump, the more his polls rise. The more GOPs accumulate on the Doddering Old Fool, the more his popularity falls.

  15. by oldedude on September 29, 2023 11:16 am
Yes it is. And by this portion of the case, there is supposed to be actual evidence to investigate. You know, something to build a case on...?

Yes, but rarely does anyone give away the case in the investigation. That's stupid. You ask questions. You see whose story matches known facts. You don't lead them at all. You let them tell lies to your face and just jot down notes. That way, when you call them for trial, you've got a willful rat in the story. Someone that will turn in their mother (they're politicians, so we're just assuming they have mothers) to not go to jail.

Typically, you actually give up facts upon an arrest. That doesn't happen in an impeachment, so you have to wait out a couple of steps until the trial phase.

  16. by Indy! on September 29, 2023 11:33 am

Epic fail so far, Curt. But we still have another year to waste on this before the election.

  17. by Ponderer on September 29, 2023 11:36 am

"Well, there is evidence, [blah blah blah]" -Hate

Well ,this was the time to finally bring it out in an official committee hearing. And none of the MAGA Republicans ever showed any. Nothing that they had constituted evidence of an actually crime having been committed. I don't know how many more times we are all going to have to keep drilling that into your thick, bone-filled skull.

"The GOP merely wants to prove that the Flatulent Fool is a typical Swamp politician." -Hate

Ah! I see. So it is all just a half-assed, blatantly political attack on your Golden God's political opponent. I see. So you're admitting that it's all just a sham to try to make the president look bad while having no evidence that he ever did anything bad. I see. So the MAGA Republicans are literally weaponizing this congressional hearing just so that they can pretend that the Democratic candidate in the upcoming election did something worthy of impeachment too! Well they're failing miserably and hilariously.

"This is to accumulate audio and video material for campaign ads." -Hate

Yes indeedy-doo it is. As I said, you are saying the quiet part out loud, Bill. You're giving the game away. You are admitting that this is all just a weaponization of the government for material to attack Biden with. The very thing that the MAGA Republicans were asininely trying to project onto the Democrats with their last asinine, preposterous, shitshow hearings. And again failed miserably.

You MAGA Republicans have all the scruples of a Three-Card Monty dealer.
