NBC's ratings are down a shocking 49% compared to the last Summer Olympics.

There can be no doubt that, while there are many reasons so many didn't watch, a viewers' protest against woke antics is a significant factor, as the article makes clear.

It's occurred to me, since I YouTubed some of the the US track and field Olympic trials, that there is a, I think growing, trend toward a naíve 1950s-ish vigorous patriotism in America that stands as a stark alternative to the wokeness so easily accepted, even promoted, by the SwampMedia...especially, MSNBC. And, NBC paid a price.

As the article points out, NBC is handing out free commercial time to advertisers to compensate for the disaster that was the Tokyo Olympics.

They don't call me the Oracle of Ashland for nothing (actually one person called me that and Indy! might have been sarcastic). But I did predict this writing in the post which I link to below:
"Perhaps I've become jaded in my old age but I have very little interest in the upcoming Olympics.

The quadrennial event next week will certainly be lackluster compared to past Olympics. Tokyo must be suffering a terrible financial loss. Because of COVID there won't be any fans to cheer on the competitors. No fans equals no tourists. No tourists equals a terrible disappointment to the restaurateurs and hoteliers.

Without the fans, the drama of the games is diminished, which is bad news for NBC which paid billions for the television rights. I may be wrong, but I expect that the Nielsen ratings will be dismal. Advertisers won't like that."
