I love this.

"Mr. Trump, like any defendant, will have to make the trial date work regardless of his schedule,” Judge Chutkan said, adding that “there is a societal interest to a speedy trial."

The March 4 date set by Judge Chutkan for the federal election case at a hearing in Federal District Court in Washington is the day before Super Tuesday, when 15 states are scheduled to hold Republican primaries or caucuses.

Judge Chutkan said that while she understood Mr. Trump had both other trial dates scheduled next year and, at the same time, was running for the country’s highest office, she was not going to let the intersection of his legal troubles and his political campaign get in the way of setting a date.

Can you imagine any other defendant telling the judge that their busy work schedule doesn't allow them time to defend themselves and "demanding" a lengthy postponement?

No worries - the Ds will find a way to get him a new date.

There's no way Trump will be treated like any other defendant by this judge.

  3. by Curt_Anderson on August 28, 2023 11:20 am
    HtS,
What, you think Trump will be treated better or worse by the judge than the average criminal defendant? He is already testing the judges' (plural) patience in his various cases. All the judges are giving him leeway not afforded to the normal defendant.

    Tulsi is da bomb!

"Newest Trump indictment is Biden Admin's latest tyrannical tactic to distract and drain resources from his main political adversary. So now anyone who criticizes how govt runs an election is a criminal? Dem elite are destroying our democracy/country."

Bill, why do you believe that Biden and the Democrats are controlling what the Justice Department is doing?

See how badly Trump hasfucked everything up? Just because criminal presidents like Trump and Nixon thought that they could get away with ordering the Justice Department around doesn't mean that any other presidents ever did it.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. I should reserve judgement until I see all the evidence that you should be able to provide here that Biden and the Democrats are ordering the Justice Department what to do. So I want you to know that I will examine, with an open mind, all of the evidence you can provide that it's what the Biden administration has been doing......................

I should reserve judgement until I see all the evidence that you should be able to provide here that Biden and the Democrats are ordering the Justice Department what to do.

    Simple, po.

What the string pullers did was appoint a corrupt political hack as AG and then released him on America as if he's a bull in a China shop...against people who pray in front of abortion clinics, mommies, daddies, nannas and pappaps who show up at school board meetings and Pre-Vatican Roman Catholic parishes...et.al.

Simply simple...though I doubt Ari doesn't keep you up to date on stuff like that.

    Eh?

  7. by Ponderer on August 31, 2023 7:34 am

That's all quite an interesting opinion you have there, Bill.

And as I said, I am all open to seeing the evidence that you certainly must have to support such an opinion.

Let's start with something easy though. Best to start slow...

Let's see your evidence that Merrick Garland and/or Jack Smith are corrupt political hacks and we'll work up from there...

The issue is that you don't/won't/can't understand that anyone you like could/would do anything wrong. So to us, it's like trying to rock to move itself. The rock is incapable of doing that. It's not in the rock's reality.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on September 4, 2023 7:13 am

The issue is that you don't/won't/can't understand that anyone you like could/would do anything wrong.

As much as anyone, po is captive to the preferences and prejudices we all take with us to every moment of our lives.

    I'm pretty sure it's a life sentence.

  10. by Ponderer on September 4, 2023 8:54 am

Well... okay... So maybe it's not as easy as I thought it should be. But let's give this another go and I won't expect so much from you this time:

Let's see your evidence that Merrick Garland and/or Jack Smith are corrupt political hacks and we'll work up from there.

You guys probably remember a particular AG named Bill Barr I'm sure. Are you comparing this AG with that one? Is that why you think what you are imagining of Garland is common behavior in an AG? Literally taking orders from a president and doing whatever he wants done?

  11. by HatetheSwamp on September 4, 2023 9:32 am

    po,

Is Curt holding seminars off line for SS progressives on whataboutism? Barr being dodgy in your estimation has no bearing on DOJ corruption under Garland.

    Garland-
Withholding evidence- Federal investigators knew in December 2019 that Hunter Biden’s laptop was "not manipulated in any way" and contained "reliable evidence," but were "obstructed" from seeing all available information, according to an IRS whistleblower involved in the probe—nearly a year before former intelligence officials and Joe Biden himself, declared it was part of a Russian disinformation campaign. So garland knows there is evidence on the laptop that is relevant to the Trump and other investigations. Yet they're still withholding it.

In criminal law, exculpatory evidence is evidence, such as a statement, tending to excuse, justify, or absolve the alleged fault or guilt of a defendant. In other words, the evidence is favorable to the defendant.
Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

Violations of First Amendment, Putting parents at school board meetings on the Domestic Terrorist Watch List.- U.S. House Judiciary Republicans led by U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) released a statement on May 11 indicating they had sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding his Oct. 2021 memorandum directing the targeting of parents by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). “This is about intimidation. This is about chilling free speech,” Jordan said at a hearing held the same day the letter was released. Garland’s memorandum was prompted by a letter to President Joe Biden by the National School Boards Association (NSBA). That letter drew comparisons between parents protesting actions by their local school boards to “domestic terrorism.” Within weeks of Garland issuing his memorandum, the NSBA apologized for their letter. In February 2022, an email was uncovered showing the NSBA had advanced knowledge of the release of Garland’s memorandum.

    OD,
Why am I not surprised that neither of your citations even mentions Hunter Biden. That sounds like the discredited Gary Shapley’s unsubstantiated claims.

    OD,
Your "three" sources are two identical articles from the Rupert Murdoch owned NY Post. The other source is from the wingnutty Washington Examiner quoting the same discredited source, Gary Shapley, as the Post article.

Quoting the same single source multiple times does not verify or validate their claims.

    HtS,
I prefer to be a critical thinker and a ready-to-be skeptical consumer of news reports. I certainly wouldn't be like you applaud Shapley's opinions as "facts" with no other confirmation.

Even the NY Post (which OD cited twice) uses quotation marks in the headline: FBI "verified" authenticity of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop Quotation marks there are used to convey the idea of "so-called," "alleged," or "supposed."

  19. by HatetheSwamp on September 4, 2023 1:30 pm

I prefer to be a critical thinker and a ready-to-be skeptical consumer of news reports.

    Baha. Yeah.

Why don't you give that a try...just once. Be sure to let us know how it works out for you.

Certainly, you would accept sworn testimony, wouldn't you? I mean, you flip so much on this it's hard to tell. AND if CBS figured it out, you surely ought to be able to pull it out, and put the pieces together. There's a very strong line between being skeptical and a good little german doing only what you're told to do by your handlers. That's what pedojoe does. Only he's the scarecrow, if he only had a brain.

An FBI official told the House Judiciary Committee in a transcribed interview this week that at least one top agent and likely others who were warning social media companies about a "hack and dump" operation ahead of the 2020 election knew Hunter Biden’s laptop was real.

Laura Dehmlow, head of the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, said, according to excerpts of the testimony obtained by the Washington Examiner, that her then-colleague Brad Benavides “certainly” was aware of the laptop’s authenticity.

"Do you know who else at FITF knew that the laptop was real?" the committee asked, according to the transcript excerpts.

Dehmlow replied, "I don’t actually. I would assume both my – yes, I would certainly say that [then-FITF Section Chief] Brad Benavides was aware."

The committee asked, "What about the individuals on the Russia unit?"

Dehmlow replied, "I would assume the [Russia] unit chief was also aware. I’m pretty certain of that fact."

Dehmlow was accompanied during the interview by an attorney with the Department of Justice, a common practice when testifying before Congress, and the excerpts note that the attorney jumped in to clarify if Dehmlow knew with "certainty" or if she was merely "making deductions."

"I'm pretty certain they were aware," Dehmlow replied.

CBS Finally Admits Hunter’s Laptop Is Real…More Than Two Years After The Fact
Readers know that when you watch CBS News, much of what you see is spin, but a report regarding Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop from the legacy media network on Monday really takes the cake.

On November 21, CBS News finally aired a segment “confirming” that it “independently verified” the contents of the president’s son’s computer which he left behind at a Delaware repair shop. This “news” came nearly two and a half years after the laptop first popped up during the 2020 election cycle.

    Curt,

Are you still of the opinion that this laptop brouhaha is merely a vast right-wing conspiracy?

  22. by Curt_Anderson on September 4, 2023 8:15 pm
    OD,
First off, I know you guys get apoplectic about it, but “Hunter Biden’s laptop is real!” is a misnomer. It is actually his hard drive not the laptop itself. You guys act like HBL is a crime in itself. It isn’t. I don’t care if it is or isn’t real.

What I was questioning was your assertion Merrick Garland is “a corrupt political hack”.

  23. by oldedude on September 4, 2023 9:38 pm
I answered your question. You choose to either not believe facts or read. Either way, it's immaterial to me.

See above. If you choose to read or not is not my choice. You're responsible for your own words. I stand on what I said.

If it's the "hard" drive, or your "soft" drive, it's immaterial to me. (actually it's a direct copy of the hard drive, which the FBI has accepted since 2021. You're just too dense to understand that). It's the facts that are on there that are of material to a court. It's the INFORMATION that is key.

Herein lie the lies that you never believe happened. pedojr emailing pedojoe about their business that the FBI/DOJ are knowingly hiding in their crimes (this is a felony). If they hide their crimes, then by logic, they should hide the crimes of trumpster. If you don't believe that, you're a fascist. You only believe in your side. You're nothing more than a Himmler talking about the Jews saying they're in need of extinction. Nothing better, and maybe worse.

You still are such a little german. You're being told to RESIST! Are you going from Berchtesgaden to Kehlsteinhaus to revive your führer?
