I remember two truths from the days after Trump effinDestroyed Hillary in the Electoral College in 016. They're connected.

One is po proclaiming, with certainty, that Trump colluded with Putin to steal the election and that Trump would be busted in short order and pay a serious price.

The other is Indy, in his classic cynicism, pointing out: Trump's a rich white guy. Rich white guys don't go to jail in America.

Just a quick note to po and Donna, Curt and isle regarding your indictment brouhaha: Trump's a rich white guy. Get yourselves off to the political porn in your blesséd indictments till your brains are scrambled.

But,...

Trump's a rich white guy. He ain't goin to jail.

pb says. It's a thousand times more likely that Trump is elected in 024 than he ends up in jail.

    I never proclaimed, said, declared, implied, suggested, nor asserted any such thing, you goddamned fuckingliar, Bill.

    I hate to break this to you Bill, but he's already BEEN busted. Many dozens of times for many various felonies. We just have the trials to go yet. But he has definitely already been "busted". Quite legally so.

    And I would call the price of all the lawyers he's going through pretty serious already too.


    Bill, you don't seem to comprehend the historic situation that this is. A former American president has been thoroughly caught committing numerous felonies and is being made to stand trial for them with some of the crimes he committed carrying a minimum 5 year sentence with no possibility of parole in that time. If he's found guilty, he's going to have to go to jail if he's found guilty. But sometimes the crimes of the rich are so heinous and gargantuan that they simply have to go to prison no matter what. This is definitely one of those cases.

    Was Bernie Madoff a rich man? Where is he today? Or how about the Enron fraudsters. They went to prison too and their wealth couldn't save them.

    I for one am not as happy and content as you and Indy! are with the situation we've seen in this country of rich people being able to skirt the law and avoid prison sentences. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

    You misremember to your benefit all the time here. So far, on this thread, it appears that Indy shares my memory and you're either lying or your memory is faulty. I dunno which to believe, but it's one or t'other.

    No I don't. I never included Putin himself in anything regarding Russia's involvement with the 2016 election. Saying that nothing happens in Russia without Putin knowing about it is not the same thing as saying that Putin did it. So please stop lying your fuckingass off like that about me Bill.

    It's not that the rich and well-connected never go to prison. There are plenty of examples, like Madoff, which disprove that. It's that the rich and well-connected ( like O.J. ) are able to afford top notch lawyers.

    But we're in uncharted waters now with an ex-president/presidential candidate having been charged with multiple crimes in multiple states, which btw could grow beyond NY and GA.

    So while I'm hopeful that DJT and his partners in crime will be locked up for years and prevented from further destroying our democracy, it's not a slam dunk, although I do think it's probable that some of them including DJT will do time.

    The problem Trump faces is that when his accomplices are sentenced to jail, those who helped and conspired with him to commit these crimes, it's going be virtually impossible to justify not sending Trump to jail.
