MAGA acolytes want to rewrite history by taking the unprecedented and fanciful step of expunging the record of Trump's two impeachments.

That calls to mind a Russian saying from Stalinist times, when rewriting history to suit and flatter a totalitarian leader was de rigueur: "Russia is a country with a certain future; it is only the past that is unpredictable."

Historian Heather Cox Richardson has expressed essentially the same thought: An inaccurate picture of the past "means that people ... are at the mercy of those who are creating the stories." Eradicating real history, Richardson argues, is about destroying "the freedom to make good decisions about your life ... the very things that democracy is supposed to stand for."

Preserving historical truth and American democracy requires seeing the Republican obsession with impeaching Biden and unimpeaching Trump for what it is: an autocratic fever dream. It is yet another reminder that freedom-loving Americans need to understand that giving MAGA Republicans political power puts us on the road toward ending our constitutional liberties.r

I was a little perplexed curt would take this stance.

I agree with the statement first of all. The most interesting thing about this is the sheep started many years ago rewriting history to make it "their" version of what they wanted to say. W.T. Sherman was a "good" man and was kind on his march to the sea. Atlanta wasn't as bad as the South made it out to be, Southerners had shelter (caves they could hide in during the siege) and food (rats and dogs that carried several diseases) so everything was fine. It shouldn't even be called a siege!

But Southerners are nothing but contemptable beasts that started the war! (They fired on Ft Sumpter in which there were ZERO casualties). And on 9/11, over 3,000 including those that are still dying from the fumes and gasses from that day. And the sheep wanted us NOT to respond. They wanted to support a religion that it's supporters that delivered the blow. They were correct on the issue of not blaming all Muslims. I absolutely agree. But they refuse to practice that train of thought with anyone who disagrees with them now.

They still want you to believe "their" president, Lincoln, was canonized by the party. Except he was a Republican. Oops. They want you to believe that all slave owners were Republicans. Which they were not. And that the perfect northerners, including Sherman were Pius men, and never hurt anyone that didn't deserve it. There must have been tens of thousands of civilians that Sherman thought deserved it. Don't get me wrong. He was the best General the north had (which should tell you lots.

These are just a few of the changes Heather is talking about. The dims are more like the chinese than the russians. When the dynasties changed, the old history was completely rewritten that supported the murdering of thousands of people so that dynasty could take control.

Y'know, gang. I was going to skip this whole thing, then I saw the link to salon.com and then that OD pulled out a quote from, of all TDSers, effin HEATHER!

Oy freakin vey! First class TDS porn.

As I read the article, I imagined that it was actually written to resemble BABYLON BEE satire. Read, or reread, with that in mind. Baha baha. Good stuff.

I can't imagine how Dem Good Germans like Curt...and, well, Heather, are going to behave in the coming months.

Kevin McCarthy is tossing out the possibility of a mere impeachment inquiry. Can you even begin to imagine the silliness if the push toward impeachment extends beyond that.

And, gang! Notice how few words it takes the article to make this, really, about YOU KNOW WHO...baha baha baha.

To be sung twice, while washing hands. To the tune of Row Row Row Your Boat:

    Trump Trump Trump is bad.
    Nasty things Trump did.
    Carefully, carefully do we watch.
    Nuthin will be hid.

    Good'ne Curt. Thanks!

I think it's interesting that when the roles are reversed, all of a sudden the dims are up in arms about the GOP having MORE evidence even before starting any procedures than the dims had after three attempts at felony charges. And never got them. My view is the GOP will have to produce court level evidence for me to be happy. I think that's very plausible.

I keep saying this. Watch what you do in politics. Someday it will come back to bite you.

"Court level evidence." Fair enough. And, I think that it's obvious that that's EXTREMELY possible.

However, the framers were clear...and wise...to make impeachment a political, not criminal, issue.

Clouseau's string pullers have created a caustic and dysfunctional political environment such as DC's never, ever seen. The stench of the Swamp is far more foul than it has ever been...even more than during Trump. The federal government is now what Chicago was during the Daley regime.

IMO, that's what makes "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" worthy of impeachment.

This is how ugly it is for the Don of the Biden Crime Family in the House. Check out deep purple GOP Elise Stefanik and her support of McCarthy, Jordan and Comer:
