pb's three headed monster strikes again:

1. Old-school Title IX feminists.
2. Anti-TQ LGB groups and activists.
3. Mommies and daddies and nannas and pappaps who merely want to raise their kids without government intrusion.

pb'd like to know how our progressives feel and what they think about this.

Bud Light, then Target now biological males fixin to compete in women’s sports.

Athena Ryan, from Sonoma Academy, and Lorelei Barrett of Sherman Oaks Buckley, opted not to participate in the scheduled girl’s 1,600-meter run at Buchanan High in Clovis, Calif., according to The Los Angeles Times.

"The CIF is disappointed for two of our student-athletes and their families because due to the actions of others, they found it necessary to withdraw from the State Track and Field Championships out of concern for the student’s well being,” the California Interscholastic Federation, the governing body for high school sports in California, wrote in a statement to the outlet.

"The CIF expressed that the organization “strongly denounces discriminatory or harassing behaviors” the student-athletes have been subjected to and are disappointed the runners have chosen not to compete.

Adults have created this problem,” said Oaks Christian coach Wesley Smith. “Adults need to fix this problem.”

The California Interscholastic Federation enacted its “Gender Identity Participation” rules in 2013, stating, “All students should have the opportunity to participate in CIF athletics and/or activities in a manner that is consistent with their gender identity.”

Woke hegemony is a thing of the past.

This is going to be a very interesting...and revealing Pride Month.

    From the LGB Group:

"Riley Gaines urges female athletes to boycott competing against trans identifying males.

She says, "We have to have girls who, when the whistle blows, they don't run, they don't swim. They stand up on the block and they don't go,..."

This is the anti-TQ head of the three headed monster.

I really hate to say this, but a separate but equal ground needs to be applied. I admire they are athletes. Their work and dedication to the sport. But there's a reason why there are men's and womens' sports. I think a third category needs to looked at.

I also appreciate how much the (born) women have worked in their chosen sport never figuring they would have to defend themselves against those growing up with natural testosterone during their post pubescent time.

I think these TG students made an extremely hard decision. They're getting a great number of pushes on both sides. They, too, worked hard. And in the end, that's what they chose. To have people walk off the podium cheapens the victory. I agree. And the other women that participated had no idea they would fight this battle as they were growing up.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on May 27, 2023 7:51 am

Back in the day, everyone celebrated Title IX: liberal and conservative.

In the article, state athletic officials lamented that the biological males didn't compete. Widespread institutional sexism exists in every place in this country controlled by Dems, including DC.

Progressive Swampcultist sheeple should be ashamed and outraged. But, ask po and Donna, isle and Curt. They ain't!

They express tepid opposition. But, shame?, outrage? Noop!

  4. by Donna on May 27, 2023 8:33 am

There aren't enough transgender athletes to make a separate category though, od.

Actually you're more open-minded on this than me. My stance is that life us full of hard decisions, and sometimes you have to choose one thing you desire over another. So in the case of post-male pubescent transwomen athletes, I think they should either compete with men or give up competitive sports.

Btw, a biological male is someone who has male sex hormones, period. I'm a post-op M2F transsexual, but I will always be biologically male. I'm citing this because I've been seeing the term misapplied.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on May 27, 2023 8:43 am

    It's a conundrum.

I think Donna's right. Even in California, there aren't enough biological males who could compete in women’s athletics.

  6. by oldedude on May 29, 2023 10:34 am
My thought is the woke view that if it's offered and they don't take part, it'll fall apart. Ergo. issue taken care of.

  7. by oldedude on May 29, 2023 10:39 am
Sorry. AND it will force the woke schools to fund another team and provide all the uniforms, coaches, etcetcetcetc out of their budget.

What are they going to take out of school this time? I know, MATH & SCIENCE! That's not needed anymore! We're woke! that solves all the problems of the world! Oh. except we can't get enough students to attend to make our budget work anyway... No parent wants their kid to be and illiterate wokester that can't do math.

  8. by Donna on May 30, 2023 6:56 am

Oh, I think math and science are safe.

  9. by islander on May 30, 2023 7:13 am

I think we've already had some good suggestions regarding trans-athletes competing in sports. See the link and check the link to the Forbes article.

  10. by HatetheSwamp on May 30, 2023 7:26 am

Right, isle. The point pb's making is that the woke trans political agenda is intransigently embedded in woke, progressive, limousine lib institutions.

If what all of us think is right, it's you woke Swampcultists who have the voice. It's your institutions that promulgate this atrocity. They presume to serve YOUR interests.

  11. by islander on May 30, 2023 8:44 am

I think this, from the Forbes article is something worth considering. It allows a transgender athlete to compete with others in a sport they all love, and also to be able to socialize and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from being with one's teammates and other athletes.

”Trans women who transitioned before male puberty do not have a performance advantage; they would be allowed to compete on women’s teams without any restrictions if they so choose. However, in individual sports, trans women who have gone through male puberty would be allowed to practice, travel, and socialize with women’s teams if they want to, but they would be scored separately. For example, the University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas would still swim in team meets and postseason women’s championships, but her times would be recorded in a separate, trans category.” *

  12. by HatetheSwamp on May 30, 2023 8:54 am

Transitioned before puberty!!!!? Parents and doctors should be in prison!

    How often does that happen?

I still think Lia, if she completed, should complete against men. Score her however, but the person is a biological male! Follow the science.

  13. by oldedude on May 30, 2023 11:25 am
Lead. That's one of those lines (I think) for both of us. If Target or any other store carries TS stuff and just have it, I don't care. Kids? Nope. If they're over 18, have at it. Prior to that, they are minors. What goes on in school IS the parents' business. I do support psychological work prior to 18. That's a good thing.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on May 30, 2023 12:00 pm

    Agreed, OD.

  15. by islander on May 30, 2023 1:13 pm

When, if, and how a minor under the age of 18 should be treated for gender dysphoria is a separate question than the question of transgenders and sports.

I’ve given some examples of what we might be able to do with regard to helping transgenders participate in and enjoy sports along with all the rest of us.

I have no experience nor am I knowledgeable in the psychological and/or medical treatment of gender dysphoria for minors or adults.

When it comes any kind of gender dysphoria treatment, I think such decisions are best left to the parents along with those medical and physiology professionals who ARE experienced, knowledgeable, and understand these issues. Nobody, especially anybody here, in my mind is better able to make those kinds of decisions than the family and their medical professionals.

  16. by Curt_Anderson on May 30, 2023 1:36 pm
Not that my kids ever asked, but I don't believe I would have agreed to their having gender re-assignment as youngsters. Parents make decisions for kids, especially life-altering decisions, because kids, are well, kids.

My son wanted to enlist at age seventeen. He was a wrestler and military recruiters used to show up at matches with free tee-shirts and other promotions. They called us at home. We put the kibosh on his enlisting and insisted he attend college first (which we paid for). I steered him toward a career in law enforcement which he loves. Now that he's an adult, he can make his own decisions and enlist. We would support him in that.

  17. by HatetheSwamp on May 30, 2023 1:47 pm

Being the libertarian here, my inclination is to make this as much a private decision as possible. But, grooming is a real thing.

I think there should be minimal regulation such as age limits. And, community oversight over what takes place in public schools.

  18. by Curt_Anderson on May 30, 2023 1:56 pm
    HtS,
You are NOT a libertarian. The defining characteristics of libertarianism is that governmental regulations and intervention should be kept to a minimum.

  19. by islander on May 30, 2023 2:17 pm

    Curt,

I think there is a misconception that some parents allow their kid to have gender replacement therapy on the grounds that the child thinks he or she is the wrong sex. It really isn’t that simple. Such treatment ultimately depends on whether the medical and physiology professionals are in agreement that it is the best course and correct treatment for the child.

It’s also extremely rare. I’d never want any of my children to have gender replacement therapy but then, like you, it was never an issue. However, if one of my children was suffering and we took our child to counseling and our doctors and councilors agreed that in this case, we could be saving our child from a lifetime of suffering and possibly even suicide at some point...Who should make that decision if not our family and our doctors...Who would be better able make the best choice for our child? Certainly not our politicians or "community" whoever that might be.

"Even when a minor has parental support for their transition, transition-related surgeries are not typically performed prior to the age of 18," Hoffman said. "While there are some reports of transgender teens between the ages of 16 and 18 receiving transition-related surgical care, these cases are exceedingly rare and based on the specific medical needs of the teen."

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends what it terms a "gender-affirmative care model" for prepubescent children experiencing gender dysphoria — distress people may experience because of the discrepancy between their gender identity and the sex assigned to them at birth. Gender-affirmative care is oriented toward understanding and appreciating a child's gender identity rather than providing puberty blockers, hormone therapy or surgery.

"Before any physical interventions are considered for adolescents, extensive exploration of psychological, family and social issues should be undertaken," the WPATH guideline reads.

The beginning of puberty, which generally occurs between the ages of 10 and 12, is a baseline for medical intervention.

The Endocrine Society recommends against puberty blockers, which suppress the release of testosterone and estrogen during puberty, for prepubescent children. An adolescent can be prescribed the treatment at the onset of puberty.

Hormone therapy can follow the use of puberty blockers, although it isn't typically considered for patients younger than 16 years old, according to the Endocrine Society.

WPATH recommends that "moving from one stage to another should not occur until there has been adequate time for adolescents and their parents to assimilate fully the effects of earlier interventions."

The association's criteria for initiating surgical treatment include "documentation of persistent gender dysphoria" and the "capacity to make a fully informed decision and to consent for treatment."

Yeah. I know. That's the theory. It's the official line.

When I read Donna's account of her own transition, I believe every word of it. Still, when I read the stories told by anti-trans activists who have detransitioned or are detransitioning, that's not the story I read. These people are beyond angry. They consider their lives ruined by the abuse of groomers and recruiters.

Real life is muddy compared to Donna's experience and the guidelines and the theory. The reason that GAG exists along with its nearly 300,000 Twitter followers...in 11 months...is that the theory ain't adhered to and the guidelines are not always followed. There's a reason for the existence of a strong and growing anti-TQ movement.

  26. by Curt_Anderson on May 30, 2023 3:25 pm
Islander, I still think I’d have them wait. Which kids didn’t suffer through their adolescence? Once they reach age 18 and are on their own they can see doctor or specialist.

Don’t get wrong, I don’t want the government telling me I cannot have gender medical procedures for my kids.

As a child, how does gender identity manifest itself? Are and should there be gender distinguished “appropriate” activities? My son was a wrestler (macho) and a violinist in the youth symphony (not so macho). Presumably they are not having sex when young. But if later my son decided he was attracted to males, does that mean he needs to change his gender? Hell, as a teen I read about the Kinsey report and I wondered if I’d be gay.

And that should absolutely be your choice!

The problem is that there are some here who would rather make your choice for you!

For example..."Transitioned before puberty!!!!? Parents and doctors should be in prison!"

  28. by HatetheSwamp on May 30, 2023 4:06 pm

And, they d@ng well should be. If you doubt that for even a nanosecond, check out the heartbreaking stories of the anti-TQ activists who were recruited and groomed into transitioning and whose bodies can never recover from the drugs and the surgeries.
