Some doofuses never learn.

NEW YORK, May 22 (Reuters) - Writer E. Jean Carroll sought on Monday to amend the first of her two defamation lawsuits against Donald Trump to demand at least $10 million in additional damages, citing comments he made on CNN after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing her.

On Monday, Carroll's lawyers pointed to Trump's posts on Truth Social calling the verdict a "disgrace" and criticism of Carroll on CNN on May 10 in arguing that she should be allowed to amend her earlier lawsuit, which alleges Trump defamed her by denying the incident in 2019 comments, while he was president.

And Hate calls Biden a "feckless, dementia-ridden piece of crap"!!! 🤣

What greater example of Trump's blinkered stupidity than for him to keep the slander that he got fined for when the jury hasn't even decided on punitive damages yet, and they can consider any subsequent slander he defames her with. What better proof of his willful and legally defined malice against Carroll than for him to go right out the next day and slander her with the same defaming lies all over again.

I'm gonna bet it'll all come to around $35,000,000 by the time he learns to shut his big fat orange trap.

    Good thing he's a billionaire!

    OD,
Whether she is a gold digger or an indignant women who has been wronged, you are smarter than Trump as apparently you would be smart enough not to dig your hole deeper by continuing to defame her.

Clouseau is a "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

    Trump is despicable.

What did Trump actually say about E. Jean during the CNN Trump Infomercial?

To say criticize the verdict ain't about her. The judge, the jury, possibly. But, not E. Jean.

  6. by Ponderer on May 23, 2023 6:17 am

He repeated all the same things that he said that defamed her with in the first place: It never happened. He never met her. She's a "whack job". She's lying.

This idiot will always double down even when he doesn't have a single chip on the table.

I know that you hate Trump, but do you think that's worth $10,000,000?

“I know that you hate Trump, but do you think that's worth $10,000,000?” —-HtS

Yes. But not because of any feeling about Trump. If a kid behaves badly, a punishment of no screen time for the night might be sufficient. If the bad behavior continues, additional nights of no screen time might be needed. Similarly, judges increase prison time for repeat offenders.

In Donald Trump’s case, the original defamation amount that the jury awarded Carroll was not enough for Trump to learn his lesson. Therefore, she and her lawyers are asking for additional punitive damages.

  9. by Ponderer on May 23, 2023 7:28 am

Bill, part of the stated point of the jury's initial award was to make him an example to others and make him "learn a lesson" so that he wouldn't do it again.

Well, apparently fining him $5,000,000 wasn't sufficient to achieve that objective since he went out the next day and did it again. And is even still continuing to do it. Trump's gonna Trump.

But even though I highly doubt that fining him another $10,000,000 or even more will achieve it either, I fully support continued and increasing fines until he finally does his lesson and stops slandering and defaming Carrol and others. However high the final total has to go.

Again, good thing he's a "billionaire", eh? Even $50,000,000 is petty cash to him.

    He wasn't convicted of breaking a law. This ain't a fine. It's a judgment.

  11. by Ponderer on May 23, 2023 8:20 am

    Yes. It was a judgement.

And the Jury sets the fine.

What part of that are you having difficulty with?

  12. by HatetheSwamp on May 23, 2023 9:08 am

    "Judgment."

I forgot. You are a lawyer and constitutional scholar.

And I forgot that you are an asshole who will glom onto anything to obfuscate how wrong you are.

(It's odd that my spellcheck doesn't see that as a misspelling)

There is a big difference between a judgement (a civil award) and a fine (a penalty imposed by the government for violating the law).
