On ideology, Bill Barr and Mitt Romney and I are extremely compatible. They're both moderates GOPs. Trump was at Barr's throat over 020 Dem election shenanigans. Romney voted to impeach Trump.

Both are lawyers and experienced politicians. Neither think good things about Donald Trump. And, both are appalled by Trump being indicted in New York.

Check out the brief video of Barr.

And, check out Romney's statement, which speaks perfectly for pb:

“I believe President Trump’s character and conduct make him unfit for office. Even so, I believe the New York prosecutor has stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda."

Exactly, Mitt!

So, the question:

Setting aside our personal opinions. Knowing that we've all, most likely, consumed some media since the arraignment, does anyone know of ANYONE in media that is praising what Bragg has done? I caught part of Anderson Cooper from yesterday. There was a ton of criticism of Trump personally...along the lines of Rodney's statement...but not one good word, in what I saw, about the indictment itself.

Can you link us to anything positive?

BTW. The Twitter link is to Barr, being interviewed by the gay Guy Curt never heard of, describing what it was like being Trump's AG. My words not his: Trump is despicable.

    Tulsi:

"The Democrat Establishment is so blinded by their hate of Trump and their love for power that they don’t care that their weaponizing of law enforcement to go after Trump is completely undermining the foundation of our country, which is the rule of law."

And, tell if I'm wrong Curt, isle, et.al.: progressive SwampLovers are perfectly happy to see the "undermining the foundation of our country."

Please correct me if you think I'm wrong because I think that libertarians and the right are talking past progressives with Gabbard's accusation. My guess is that isle, especially, and po, if po'd come out of exile, would say to Tulsi, "Yeah, well, duh. Of course." po'd add, "You can go and eff your foundation of our country."

But, please, correct me if I'm reading you wrong."

I watched the Bill Barr interview on the Twitter link. Bill Barr likes to have it both ways. He oversaw the DOJ prosecution of Michael Cohen for the same crimes as individual one a.k.a. Donald Trump, Cohen’s partner in crime. Barr didn’t then and won’t now explain the rationale for the different treatment. See the link.

As for Mitt Romney’s comment on stretching the law to make the statutes fit, the point is that they DID fit. Who among us has not stretched an article of clothing to make it fit and worn it anyway?

    Curt,

You gave us an opinion piece.

As for Mitt Romney’s comment on stretching the law to make the statutes fit, the point is that they DID fit.

It fit well enuff to get a Manhattan Grand Jury to see Trump as a ham sammich. C'mon man. Gimme a break. I'm seeing no one suggesting that this case has the chance of a snowball in hell.

Link us to a reputable legal authority praising Bragg on the law. I've been looking. All I can see is the same old, same old...and, well earned...attacks on Trump's character.

Yes, it’s an opinion piece. It is an opinion piece that bolsters my observation did Bill Barr has never defended his selective prosecution of Michael Cohen while leading Donald Trump off Scott free for the crime they committed together. If you don’t agree, show me were Bill Barr ever explained well he did not prosecute Trump for that crime.

Are you familiar with the phrase “consciousness of guilt”? It is why Trump has found himself in legal jeopardy. Trump specifically directed Michael Cohen to take actions that would skirt the law and avoid detection.

“Pundits have been speculating that Trump would be charged with lying about the hush money payments to illegally affect an election, and that theory rests on controversial legal issues and could be hard to prove,” said Rebecca Roiphe, a New York Law School professor and former state prosecutor.

“It turns out the indictment also includes a claim that Trump falsified records to commit a state tax crime,” she continued. “That’s a much simpler charge that avoids the potential pitfalls.”

It's the opinion of someone who ain't a lawyer, let alone a prosecutor.

I'm asking for ANY informed praise of the indictment. If there's none, that's fine.

Right back at ya, HtS. I'm asking you for ANY informed praise of Trump's behavior and handling of the Stormy Daniels hush money episode and his fraudulent business records. If there's none, that's fine.

Outside of Bragg's office we don't know exactly how the DA will present and argue the case. We also don't know how Trump's team will defend him. So any praise of the DA's case would be premature. It is worth remembering that Donald "Individual 1" Trump was publicly implicated by prosecutors as complicit in Michael Cohen's campaign finance crimes for which Cohen served time in prison.

We Finally Know the Case Against Trump, and It Is Strong
By Karen Friedman Agnifilo and Norman Eisen
Ms. Agnifilo is a former Manhattan chief assistant district attorney. Mr. Eisen is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Daniel Farber, a professor at the UC Berkeley Law School who studies presidential power, said Bragg “paints a compelling picture of a conspiracy to falsify business records in order to suppress negative information during the presidential campaign,” and a jury “might well find that a compelling story.”

Sorry, Curt. Maybe I haven't ever posted this on SS:

I despise Trump. I think that Trump is despicable.

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha.

That being the case, despicable people have to commit an actual crime in order to be convicted.
