The video shows Biden falling near the top of the staircase on the airport tarmac before catching himself, turning to wave and entering the aircraft. It remains unclear what might have caused Biden to trip on the steps.

The incident occurred shortly after the president wrapped up his trip to Eastern Europe to visit Ukraine and Poland. Biden is slated to return to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening aboard the plane.

    You should have seen FDR try to climb stairs.

    I was out cutting brush last fall and caught my foot on a root and I stumbled and fell...Fortunately there was no one around filming the embarrassing incident.

    When I went for my bi-annual physical in December, my Dr. asked me, among other things, if I’d had any falls, or if I could go up and down the stairs without any help (I think those are inappropriate ageism questions). Although she’s pretty sharp for a youngster and good looking to boot, she’s much too young to be be a doctor in my opinion. Anyway, I didn’t tell her about the brush cutting incident. I didn’t think it was any of her business, and as far as stairs go, I must go up and down the stairs 15 or twenty times a day, probably more than she ever does.

    That stumble is not a bad metaphor for Joe Biden. He's ordinary Joe from Scranton PA but he's accomplished extraordinary things. He's been down but he's gotten back up. Unlike his predecessor, he wasn't born into wealth. He's climbed the stairs of success on his own.

    At least one former president had difficulty walking downhill.
