Republican lawmakers from the House and Senate criticized President Biden's unannounced trip to Kiev, Ukraine, on Monday and said it shows Biden is more interested in Ukraine than the crisis at the border or the release of toxic chemicals into the air and water in East Palestine, Ohio.

Freshman Senator Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., added to the mounting Republican criticism in a tweet Monday by saying, "If you want to understand why so many Americans are frustrated right now: Biden is in Ukraine before Ohio."

Senior Senator from Missouri, Josh Hawley, tweeted a similar message Monday: "No time to visit East Palestine, Ohio but plenty of time for this," he said.

Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., stated on Twitter, "#POTUS has now spent more time in Ukraine than he has at our southern border. @JoeBiden refuses to address the AMERICAN crisis that will impact generations and poses an immediate threat to our national security."

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C. stated in a Monday tweet, "I hope otw back from Kyiv, the President pays a visit to East Palestine, Ohio. Maybe take the Secretary of DOT and Governor with him..."

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C. stated in a Monday tweet, "I hope otw back from Kyiv, the President pays a visit to East Palestine, Ohio. Maybe take the Secretary of DOT and Governor with him..."

"Breathtaking that President Biden can show up in Ukraine to ensure their border is secure, but can’t do the same for America," he stated in a tweet Monday.

pb praised Biden's symbolic act of establishing an incarnational presence in Ukraine. But, GOPs are correct. The symbolism of the ignoring of the border and of our President distancing himself from the plight of the men, women and children in Ohio screams truth.

After the fanfare, people will remember what Joe doesn't do.

Joe Biden went to Ukraine to make the very visible statement that America stands up to authoritarianism and one authoritarian in particular. America and United States president should stand for democracy, which is what Joe Biden is doing right now. This is happening at a very conspicuous time of the war in Ukraine: it’s one year anniversary. Which is been one year of futility for Vladimir Putin, who thought he would be in Kyiv, two weeks after the start of his “special military operation”.

What is the urgent need for Joe Biden to go to East Palestine Ohio? Those east Palestinians will be attributing every headache, sore throat and rash to the train derailment for years to come. What do those people need that they’re not getting already?

Anyway, those people are 70% Trump voters so they should be happy that Donald Trump has announced that he will be visiting East Palestine Ohio. He was the one who gutted some 100 environmental protection and railroad safety regulations. I guess it’s true that culprits return to the scene of the crime.

"pb praised Biden's symbolic act of establishing an incarnational presence in Ukraine. But, [Fox has since gotten me back in line and given me the preferred line of propaganda to flog]." -Hate

You're a gullible fukking moron of a lemming, Bill. And predictable as hell.

(Watcha bet Trump's not quite dumb enough to throw rolls of paper towels to anyone this time?)

    I know!!! 👍

They'll remember that he never said he knows more than the generals or that he took a sharpy and changed a weather map on TV and like Pondy said, they'll remember that he never threw paper towels at anybody !!!

    Curt,

Lead's said that he thinks Joe's trip to Ukraine was a historically meaningful symbolic act.

What's the "urgent need" for "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" to go to East Palestine?

I have to ask because sometimes I don't know. Are you serious?

The Flatulent Fool marketed himself to America as lunchbox Joe, the man who rode the train...President Everyman. Bubba Clinton ran circles around the GOPs. In the day, he drove Rush crazy because his continuing refrain was, "I feel your pain," and people believed him.

One mark of dementia from, say, the middle stages on, is the loss of the ability to experience subtle emotions such as empathy. Joe's still capable of anger and, certainly, self-righteousness. But, his tender heart, if he ever had one, is gone.

He doesn't feel anyone's pain. Or, care about it.

This far into the loss of his brain, he's incapable.

I think it's interesting that you can commend someone, ask a question, and they still want your head on a pike.

What's wrong with talking about the Ohio issue, and tell folks you'll be there on "Tuesday?" Going to the Ukraine, coming back and making a stop? Obviously, y'all believe pedojoe is further gone than either one of us. We, at least believe he can still think of doing both of those.... It's just how you handle the patient.

Again, it's a misstep his handlers didn't see coming. Which is a little weird to me considering they've pushed the green deal down our throats... I wouldda thunkt they'd be semi concerned with a chemical spill that is set to ruin farming, hunting, fishing, and life in general for the next few decades, and will be resulting in huge increases in miscarriages, spinal bifida, and many other disorders. But no one really cares about human and ecological costs all of a sudden. Funny how that can happen.

    Bang on, OD!

The inability of our progressive SwampLovers here to understand that we can praise Clouseau so highly for the powerful symbolism of his trip to Kiev and still think he's abjectly failing America with the border issue and his inattention to the suffering of the people of East Palestine says a ton.

The GOP is the home of openness and acceptance and inclusion, diversity, tolerance and, absolutely and most of all...FREE-effin-THINKING.

That we could think freely seems to be beyond the pale in the progressive world. pb's a hypocrite for embracing the Kiev thing and continuing to oppose the Flatulent Fool on other issues?

Those progressive SwampLovers and we come from different cultures!

"pb's a hypocrite for embracing the Kiev thing and continuing to oppose the Flatulent Fool on other issues?" -Both Ways Bill

No, Bill. You are a hypocrite for asserting in no uncertain terms that his trip was one of the most momentous events in presidential history, while at the same time posting and touting articles from your cult's handlers directly castigating him for going on it. As if anything else they could conveniently grab hold of in the news where he could have been instead was eminently more important than what he did in Ukraine.

    Newsflash for you: It wasn't.

Your hypocrisy, along with your existential terror of ever being seen congratulating a Democratic president, apparently requires that on the rare occasion that you sincerely compliment this president on anything he did, it must be followed up with an argument that it was wrong and he must be chastised for it. Even if it was one of the most momentous events in presidential history, he's gotta be damned for it in your book. You can't just let the fact that Joe Biden did something great stand on its own. You gotta besmirch his doing it somehow.

You probably don't even see what you do as hypocrisy since it and mendacity make up the foundational basis of your entire being. You're too close to it. It engulfs you, so you can't see beyond it at all to even know you are doing it.

    Again, glad to help.

  13. by islander on February 25, 2023 7:35 am

Hate is still unwilling to give Biden any credit for what he acknowledged as
“one of the most momentous events in presidential history”.

Hate claimed and continues to claim that any credit should go to what he calls "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap’s" handlers, since President Biden is a demented puppet controlled and manipulated by his wife Jill and others who simply use him to accomplish their own agenda.

But that’s simply the kind of guy Hate is...It’s what we've come to expect from him.

  14. by Donna on February 25, 2023 8:11 am

I think it's funny but typical that Republicans are chastising President Biden for not doing a photo op when you know damned well that if he did what they're criticizing him for not doing, they would have been all over him for doing a photo op.

There's no way to counter a political argument. You're always damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I'm a freethinker, po. Simple as that. I even know how to walk and chew gum at the same time. I know how. I rarely do it. But, I know.

  18. by Ponderer on February 25, 2023 10:18 am

Somehow, Bill, you have conflated "free thinking" with hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is nothing at all like free thinking.

While you may believe yourself to be a free thinker, you are also demonstrably a hypocrite.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on February 25, 2023 10:44 am

    OD,

Do pb a favor...if you're able. This "hypocrite" rant that po's on? It's still incoherent to me. If it makes even a smidgen of sense to you, could you splain it to me.

I'm just bein myself, a simple ol country boy from Alabama Pennsylvania. So, if you can offer assistance...
