(OPB Sept. 25, 2018) The rules, which date back to 2015, required railroads carrying crude oil or other flammable liquids to outfit their trains with more responsive electronic braking systems. The rules came in response to concerns about explosions and spills from mile-long trains of crude and ethanol. In the Northwest, those trains move along the Columbia River and through cities to coastal refineries.

The U.S. Department of Transportation, which has been working on rescinding the rules since last December, said in statement this week that its analysis showed the cost of requiring railroads to equip trains with the new brakes outweighed the potential benefits.

    Outweighed potential benefits to whom?

The problem for the Former Trucker is that he was so ready to undo the offenses of OrangeMan that he shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline within an hour of his immaculation service.

We all remember that. You, too, I presume.

"That feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" has had waaaaaaaaaay more than two years to get to this. If he'd not appointed an unqualified and moronic white male as Secretary of Transportation, this could have been addressed.

Curt, my guess is that you're going to have to do some seriously creative Good Germaning to excuse the Flatulent Fool this time around.

You seem to be pretty reflexive with your Good Hitlering there, Bill.

    Good Germaning.

Yeah. My response to the many legitimate criticisms of Trump is to acknowledge that Trump is despicable.

Curt's, yours, when Joe and his gang come up short, is BUT TRUMP. BUT TRUMP!

    Not workin this time.

It's always easier to undo (roll back) rules and laws than it is to implement them.

I am surmising here, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Biden administration didn't immediately re-implement the Obama-era safety rules because they were in the midst of averting a national rail strike and had to negotiate with both the unions and management.

It's a bit much to hear Republicans belly-aching and blaming Biden that more regulations were not in place.

Curt- I think it's bullsht to blame it on Trump. It was an EO. Easily turned over. pedojoe CHOSE NOT TO CHANGE IT. It really is that simple. He's supposed to be the "green energy.... something...." He's always touting it. He could have overturned this and put that out. OMFG! What an idea! Turning over an EO to help the environment!

    OD,

I'd tweak you a tad. This was the baileywick of Pot Hole Pete. It's obvious by now, as crises follow him one after another, that the man is historically incompetent.

Joe's fault is that he didn't fire the man a year ago at least.

Regarding the responsibility Biden bears for this train accident, Hate wrote, ”Joe's fault is that he didn't fire the man [Pete] a year ago at least.”

Fault? So, Hate, in your La-La land of Unrepentant Trump Supporters (UTS), you imagine that this train accident would have been avoided if Biden had only fired Pete last year LoL !!!

My advise to you, Hate, is if you want to find the strength to redeem yourself and become an honest man, what you will need to do is repent for your actions that made it possible for Trump to become President of our country, and the starting place is to stop trying to blame others for your own misguided behavior. With true repentance, you will be able to clearly see and acknowledge the error of your ways and become a part of the World of Reality and Truth...Your little disclaimers (Trump is despicable) isn’t going to save you.

    isle,

I have no idea what Pothole's successor might have done. What we all know is that the story of the Biden Administration so far has been one transportation-related crisis after another.

Please accept the invitation I've already laid down. Justify the hiring of Pothole Pete by any qualification other than that Clouseau's string pullers' desire to add an LGBTer to the Cabinet.
