According to a recent Marquette University national poll, 64% of registered Republicans would pick DeSantis over Trump as the 2024 nominee, if the choice came down to the pair. The same poll found that registered voters favored DeSantis over Biden, 45% to 38% in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. In a head-to-head match up between Trump and Biden, the duo tied at 40%.

...Biden's share of support has steadily declined since last summer, while support for DeSantis and Trump has increased in the past year. The Marquette poll was conducted from Jan. 19-20.

In a December USA Today poll, Biden led Trump in a hypothetical matchup. However, the president continued to trail DeSantis in a head-to-head race, with DeSantis at 47% and Biden at 43%.

While DeSantis has gained ground among GOP candidates in some polls, a NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist national poll from December has Trump on top in a field of Republican candidates. The former president had a healthy lead over his competitors with 45% of Republican and Republican-leaning independents supporting Trump in 2024. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

It's waaaaaaaaaay too early to draw any conclusions but pb's thinking that Trump's odds on to win the GOP nomination. When there is a crowded field, he'll pull in a decent plurality and build up enough of a lead as the field dwindles.

pb's been monitoring right wing media's coverage of Trump's Covid attacks on DeSantis. Everyone is attacking Trump and defending DeSantis. It seems to pb that, in the case of some, particularly that gay Guy Curt never heard of, in spite of claims of neutrality, support of DeSantis leaches through...

...but, in 016, no one in the GOP establishment wanted OrangeMan to win. They were powerless.

pb loves living in GOPland. Life is real. The GOP truly is the party of openness and inclusion and tolerance and diversity, acceptance and, most of all FREETHINKING. pb'll take that any day over smoke filled room Dem fascism...even if it means Trump. pb'll let po and isle about pb being MAGA. Just imagine. Four more years of TDSers with Trump in the White House!

Hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha heeheeheeheeheeheehee hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo hahahahahahahahaha heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha heeheeheeheeheeheehee hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo hahahahahahahahaha heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Yesterday, in the New York Times and their upshot column the report was on how posters are all over the place regarding the next presidential election. I quote below a relevant paragraph.

Huge Variance in Support for Trump
In national surveys since November, different pollsters have shown Mr. Trump with anywhere between 25 percent and 55 percent of the vote in a multicandidate field.

And, of course, primaries are state elections. Trump is very popular in some states and not in others. Still, as much as I don't want it to be true, with a large field of candidates, I think Trump will kick butt in some early primaries and hold his own in some others.

There's an article now and then suggesting that donors aren't standing in line to bankroll Trump this time. If Haley or DeSantis can score big with the high rollers, maybe one or t'other will have some staying power. But, I'm afraid the deck is stacked for the OrangeMan.

Lead. He'll always fight just to fight. He says is "kinder" than po, but it's the southern "bless your heart" and then add "suga" just to make it sound nice. And it isn't.

We were in Juniper last week (we're on baby watch now), and this server was playfully mentioning my beard, I played back. She said "bless your heart." I took a step and decided to play back. I asked her how she meant that? She was obviously a Christian woman and turned red. I made a joke and left her, knowing it was an actual blessing that I played. And we both enjoyed the banter.
