I have no idea what brought this to mind, but here it is.
The true genius in my high school class was the kid whose back yard bordered mine. We first met when we were five. We're still in contact today. In fact, we're going to be vacationing together this fall.
Anyway, Tom got into MIT. I, on the other hand, graduated from a small private liberal arts college, not chopped liver, but, certainly, not MIT.
Tom and I exchanged hand written, can you believe it?, letters during college and I was fascinated by his descriptions of campus life.
Early in our freshman year, he described a short subject that appeared before the campus movie of the week. I remember his description vividly. Years later, I searched for the brief film on YouTube and, to my glee, I found it.
Its title really is Bambi Meets Godzilla. The film is timeless. I understand that it has been remade since.
