I don't care what anybody says. Trump's trials won't help his poll numbers.

We don’t really know Joe Biden or Donald Trump. Maybe we should listen to those who do.

Federal Court Blocks Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Nationwide.

pedojoe actually thought he could spend money without the consent of congress (specifically the House of Representatives). TWICE his useless nads got caught in the grinder.

It doesn't really matter what you think of doing this. It was illegal. Period. End of story.

"The U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a nationwide injunction pending appeal against President Joe Biden’s student loan debt forgiveness program Monday, adding to previous legal action blocking the plan.

The program seeks to forgive $10,000 in federal student loan debt for individuals with incomes under $125,000 and up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients, with the Biden administration claiming it had the authority to institute the program under the HEROES Act of 2003 and an emergency situation sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas and South Carolina had filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration in late September over the program, and the court issued a stay on the debt cancellation last month before granting an emergency motion for the injunction Monday.

End of story, OD? I don't think so. I expect it will argued in a higher court. There will be a case to be made for Biden.

    Wait for it.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on November 14, 2022 1:10 pm

It will be interesting to see how this ends. This Court seems to go to lengths to recognize the power of Congress...which is as constitutionalists like pb think it should be.

My cynical side suspects that Biden's college loan forgiveness plan was good politics rather than good policy. One of the results was that young voters turned out and voted for Democrats.

I am guessing that Biden won't be too upset with the court's decision no matter how it turns out. He already achieved what he wanted.

I'm with you on that. It was a ploy to buy votes. Kind of like LYING about the revolution if the GOP won. It's a shame they didn't have the ability to actually talk about what they did right, considering there wasn't any of that, and he still won't change his plans. He sounded like obomber when the day before the election he said, "I have a phone, and I have a pen."

I thought he was supposed to unify the country? Oh. Yeah. He's a dim...

  5. by Donna on November 14, 2022 2:32 pm

I agree with your comments, too Curt.

Early in Biden's term, there were a lot of discussions on FB about student loan debt. Proponents for loan debt forgiveness were saying that Biden could forgive all student loan debt with the stroke of a pen!", and they vilified him for not acting on it. So he had nothing to lose by trying. But who knows what the courts will finally decide.

I don’t feel your pain OD. Maybe Joe Biden was politically motivated when he signed the executive order regarding college loan forgiveness. I am shocked, shocked that politics is going on here.

If that was a lie, it pales in comparison, with the lies Republicans tell about supposed election fraud, and rigged elections. Now that’s divisive.

"Kind of like LYING about the revolution if the GOP won." - od

This election, Trump had loyalists running for offices including secretary of state and governor in swing states where if Trump had loyalists in those positions of power during and after the 2020 election, they would have attempted to replace those electors with their own hand-picked ones.

Proof? Thoughts? or is this only TDS?

I'm "assuming" that any move to remove and replace an elected official. I am also assuming there is a court, either state or federal that would rule against that (or perhaps both). That's REALLY a reach and makes very little sense in our republic. In the banana "republic" you want, it might be reasonable. but that's another beauty of the checks and balances of OUR system.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking to get him arrested?

Just like pedojoe, what he did was illegal. Does he go to jail? nope. I hope not. This is tried routinely for a long time. I'm like Curt. pedojoe promised the young people something he couldn't give, and told them there's a revolution coming if they don't vote, or vote GOP. Both were bald faced lies, and he knew it at the time. But it came out as easily as any of his other speeches. Oh. Wait. Maybe he's NEVER told the truth about anything!

  9. by Donna on November 15, 2022 1:19 pm

Proof? LOL! All you need to do is look at who Trump endorsed and which offices they were running for! They were all election deniers. In fact Kari Lake said that if she were governor of AZ in 2020, she wouldn't have approved the election results.

I am chuckling over OldeDude's whining over Biden's college loan forgiveness program. It may or may not stand up to judicial review. It was worth trying. Apparently it was good politics. Young voters showed up. Biden's executive order granting clemency to prisoners charged with simple marijuana possession also probably increased young voter participation. I guess you think Biden is guilty of practicing good and popular politics.

OD's displeasure over the politics of Biden's executive orders is comically hypocritical in light of what Trump did in office. Trump signed his own overtly political executive order to build a border wall (the one that Mexico was supposed to pay for) which was a naked attempt to appeal to his gullible and xenophobic MAGA voters.

  11. by Donna on November 15, 2022 3:18 pm

Did they ever build even one new mile of border wall?

  12. by Curt_Anderson on November 15, 2022 3:26 pm
    Donna,

(Wikipedia)As of December 2020, the total funding given for new fencing was about $15 billion, a third of which had been given by Congress while Trump had ordered the rest taken from the military budget. This funding was intended to build new fencing over 738 miles (1,188 km), at a cost of about $20 million per mile; this would cover a little more than half the approximately 1,300 mi (2,100 km) that had no fencing when Trump took office.[53][54]

A March 2021 review of the Trump work on the wall found only 47 miles (76 km) of new barriers where none had previously existed. While Trump had described the new wall as "virtually impenetrable", it was found that smugglers had repeatedly sawed through the wall with cheap power tools. Also, new dirt roads that had been used to access the wall construction served as new access roads for smugglers.[55]

Suffice to say, that $15 billion could have been put to much more beneficial and effective uses.

    Donna!

What's happened to your brain!!!!! It's an insult to High Disinformation Voters to call you High Disinformation!!!!!

How do you, uh, "inform" yourself? Really!

Before Biden stopped new construction on the wall, the Trump administration had built 458 miles of what it dubbed “border wall system,” according to final figures compiled by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and provided to U.S. News.

The wall consists mostly of 18- to 30-foot steel bollards anchored in concrete. The barriers also feature sensors, lights, cameras and parallel roads in some places.

    HtS,
Most of that 458 miles was existing border fencing/walls.

NACO, Arizona — Mexican smuggling gangs have sawed through new segments of border wall 3,272 times over the past three years, according to unpublished U.S. Customs and Border Protection maintenance records obtained by The Washington Post under the Freedom of Information Act.

The wall obscures from view drug smugglers who approach the wall from the southern side. Obviously it's not much of an obstacle for them.

Fact check: Trump’s incomplete border wall did not stop unauthorized immigration and drugs.
“When the wall was finished, that’s how we set all these records. We have records that nobody can even compete with right now. It’s a disaster. I believe it’s 10 million people coming in, not three or four million people, they’re pouring into our country. We have no idea who they are and where they come from. We have no idea what is happening to our country and we are being poisoned,” Donald J. Trump lied aloud in his 2024 Presidential run announcement tonight.
    False.

The Trump administration constructed 453 miles of border wall over four years, and a vast majority of the new barriers reinforced or replaced existing structures. Of those, about 47 miles were new primary barriers. The United States’ southwestern border with Mexico is over 1,900 miles.

"“When the wall was finished, that’s how we set all these records. We have records that nobody can even compete with right now."
That's past tense, which is a LIE. It isn't complete or "finished."

Show me the records "that nobody can even complete with right now."

I don't think this is even a question except in your mind. Why would AZ be putting in obstacles to fill the wall? That's just stupid.

Why would TX be begging for wall so they can actually raise their cattle and their families don't live in terror over coyotes? There is soooo much wrong with what you said. put up.
