Sen. Mark Kelly beats Blake Masters
Adrian Fontes beats Mark Finchem to be the AZ Secretary of State

Now that Trump acolyte and very horrible person Kari Lake needs to lose to Katie Hobbs in the governor's race.

The Democrats have two final and excellent chances to pick up Senate seats, and need to win just one.

    How about that!

In the end, independents, which form a larger voting bloc than either the GOP or Democrats, broke for the latter nationwide because they didn't want to see America governed by a bunch of crazy Trump cultists.

It'll be interesting watching how the civil war that has erupted in the GOP develops.

The following was reported, and Yahoo! News:

All it took was for Democrat Mark Kelly to win Arizona’s Senate race Friday for Donald Trump to demand a new election because of his unfounded claims of “tainted” votes.

“Idiot, and possibly corrupt, officials have lost control of the tainted Election in Arizona,” the former president wrote on his Truth Social platform after Kelly was declared the winner in a tight midterm race against against controversial MAGA candidate Blake Masters.

“A NEW ELECTION MUST BE CALLED FOR IMMEDIATELY!” Trump demanded.

Donna, I read and heard Trump cultists swearing that if the Democrats “stole” this election a civil war would break out. Maybe they didn’t realize that it meant a civil war within the Republican Party.

  4. by Donna on November 12, 2022 9:59 am

The usual sour oranges from America's sorest loser.

The truth is that since the election of 2020, Arizona has gone to great lengths to make sure that the vote tabulation process has oversight from both major political parties and is transparent for all to see. Each vote tabulation table has a Republican and a Democrat seated across from each other, and they installed video surveillance cameras everywhere so that nothing happens off camera. I just saw a video presentation on it a couple of days ago.

And, I think that there would be a vigorous response. What's noteworthy about 020 is that nearly half of likely voters believe that there was significant vote fraud in the election. Nearly half. You yourself, Curt, created a nice definition of a "Trumpite," which we, apparently, lost. Not many people fit that definition.

What you progressive Swampists have to understand is that the universe of people who believe that 020 was dodgy is much larger than the Trumpite, MAGA, world. You can belittle people who are concerned about the evidence that Dems fiddled with the 020 vote count all you like...and as you progressive sanctmones do. But, with 020, it isn't only inbred MAGAs who think that there was significant vote fraud...

...and, if nearly half of likely voters distrust the result of this election, there will be trouble.

Guess what! We believe you! We know there are some people who believe that. Did you think your news was going to surprise anybody?

Although, now that you bring up all those folks you call inbred Magas, it makes me wonder about the other Republicans who have been led to believe there was “significant voter fraud”, whatever that’s supposed to mean. It’s a pretty vague term. Does it mean more fraud than in any other election?

”A January 2021 Morning Consult survey of 1,990 registered voters nationwide showed 65% responded that they believe the 2020 election was "free and fair." But when those results were broken down by party affiliation, only one-third of Republicans were in agreement with that statement. When asked what sources helped lead them to believe the election was fraudulent, a majority of Republicans cited former President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly claimed without evidence that his loss was not legitimate.”

Yes of course, Donald Trump told them that !!! LoL

Sheri and I donated $25 to Adrian Fontes's campaign. In fact I got a few of my Facebook friends including Sean Shealy to donate to his campaign.

We all breathed a sigh of relief when Fontes ended up beating the Trump-endorsed election denier Mark Finchem for the important office of Secretary of State for Arizona.

Btw, we received a signed Thank You card from Adrian Fontes's mom yesterday! A FB friend of ours got one too. Adrian's mom wrote on the back, "Thank You for supporting my son".

    Anyhow...

Arizona isn't tolerating election deniers this time around. From the New York Times:

In Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Paul Penzone admonished Wendy Rogers, an election-denying state senator, for inciting a Saturday protest at a vote-tally center. He said not only could she be held criminally liable, but she should pay for security.

Officials in Maricopa County, Ariz., have had enough of election-fraud conspiracy theories, if a new thread from the county’s Twitter account is any indication. “CANDIDATES: All legal votes will be counted, including votes for you,” it says in one tweet. “If you have the most votes in the final tally, you will be elected. If you do not have the most votes, you will have lost your election.”

    LOL!

    Donna,

Arizona was the most interesting of all the states to me. I watched several Trump rallies there. The Arizona crowd was the most radical MAGA gang in the country, by far. I'm not sure why.

Rich Lowry, of National Review, said that Doug Ducey would have been a lock to win the Senate seat easily but he didn't want to deal with the Trump drama. I suspect that Lowry is right.

It's likely that the Arizona won't recover from Trump for years!

  12. by Donna on November 13, 2022 10:34 am

We're starting to recover right now, Hts.

If Kari Lake becomes our next governor, being that she would be among the few swing state MAGA candidates who won their contests, the national spotlight will be fixed on her. With Adrian Fontes beating out the Trump guy for Sec of State and both US Senators being Democrats, although Republicans slightly control State Assembly, in the wake of the MAGAtastophy, Lake's support system probably won't be as strong as she was counting on.

Btw, SNL opened with a hilarious sketch about the AZ governor election with Cecily Strong brilliantly playing Lake. I'll post a link later.

The math is against Kari Lake, as the article below states.

Before Sunday's drop, Lake needed 56.5% of the remaining vote to catch up to Katie Hobbs, according to Paul Bentz, pollster for HighGround.

On Sunday evening, she got 54.6%

Now she needs 57.6% of the remaining 170,000 votes to catch Hobbs.

That the math is against Kari Lake is largely the result of her subtracting people from the list of her potential voters. The article also explains how she alienated non-MAGA Republicans. For example...
On the Friday before the general election, she sneered at "the party of McCain" during a campaign event, adding, "Boy, Arizona has delivered some losers, haven't they?"

“We don’t have any McCain Republicans in here, do we?” she asked.

“Well, get the hell out!” Lake told them.

Lake doesn't know what the hell she's doing. She'll be way in over her head as governor if she wins. The only useful skill she'd be able to employ from her experience as a local Fox news anchor is how to read a teleprompter.

But as you cite, it's looking more and more like Hobbs, who IMO ran a lackluster campaign, may win afterall. In addition to the figures you posted, Curt, independents broke for Hobbs over Lake 60% to 35% even though Lake far out-publicized her on TV.

The last election denier goes down. Arizona's new governor is Katie Hobbs. Kari Lake loses.

  17. by oldedude on November 15, 2022 7:37 am
This is a good thing for the GOP. The US will continue to go to sht, inflation will increase, people will learn pedojoe is a bald faced liar, the dims don't care about the little brown and black people, and they love criminals more than they do voters.

I don't see a downside. They voted for it, let it come.
