The lieutenant governor’s debate with celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz on Tuesday made for a difficult night for Democrats: As the two candidates fought over abortion and the minimum wage, Fetterman sometimes struggled to communicate — missing words, pausing awkwardly and occasionally having a hard time finishing sentences. The episode injected new uncertainty in a swing state that could determine the balance of power in the Senate.
Behind the scenes,...some Democrats are second-guessing Fetterman’s decision to participate. Some even questioned whether Fetterman should have stayed in the race in the immediate aftermath of his May stroke.
“I feel bad saying this,” said a Pennsylvania Democratic official, “but if he does go on to lose by a very close margin, and then we lose the Senate 51-49 ... that decision will really be reexamined.”
But, read the article. Good ol POLITICO. You'd think that Oz babbled like a fool.
Bahahahahahahahahahaha!

by oldedude on October 26, 2022 9:09 pm It was bad enough that some dims are saying the same thing I did. He ought to take the cycle off, recover, get that cognitive ability back and then go for it. Yes, it really was that bad (I thought). The other thing of it, was that Oz played strictly by the rules. He said he wasn't going to bring up the stroke and didn't. He allowed Fetterman to have the monitor. He never spoke about it. When he backed Fetterman into corners, he would make his point and then back off, which is something I had never seen before.
I also wanted to say the moderators were excellent. They were on task and doing a great job. I think that helped everyone.
The slips I saw with Fetterman, is there were a couple of times he got that deer in the headlights look. You could tell that he KNEW what to say, he just couldn't access those words. There were a couple of direct lies he told that he should have been practiced on. The worst one was that he claimed he had always been for fracking. The moderators called him out on that, and there's tape of it, so.... The other one was on his crime initiatives, which no longer make sense to most.
I think it was a mistake for the party to allow him to run. He should have pulled out and let someone else take the helm this time. He's NOT okay. Let him rehab, come back and let's see what he has.
