...to protect us against extremists.

"A county judge in Arizona has banned nearly all abortions in the state, citing a law signed in 1864, when Arizona was still a territory. Under the 1864 law, there is no exception for rape or incest, and anyone who helps a woman obtain an abortion could face two to five years in prison. The head of Planned Parenthood slammed the abortion ban, saying it was “sending Arizonians back nearly 150 years.” The judge’s ruling came a day before a new law went into effect in Arizona banning abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy."

I sincerely hope and think it will be overturned fairly quickly.

Again, there is a way to get it federal law. you just have to follow the rules.

    "Nearly all?"

Vague, eh? No good reporting of fact.

    Good propaganda, though.

  3. by Curt_Anderson on September 26, 2022 1:19 pm
Yes, "nearly all". The 1901 bans abortions in all cases except when necessary to save the pregnant person's life.

    "pregnant person's"

    Baha.

    You silly wokester!

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh.

It's laws like this that really prevent at least some talk between groups. What upsets me is that this is some county judge that decided to do this after the legislature (I'm sure) had some heated debates, people talked and rationally chose something good for the state. I'm sure that few are happy, but dang! Again, hopefully this will be struck down and the law that's supposed to into effect will come in.

Y'know, OD, this is a wacko site and the story is just outrageous.

    I doubt the whole thing.

I actually looked it up. It started in a very liberal source, but now it's over a lot of sources. Apparently this judge thought this was a good idea. I am absolutely not convinced as I said above.

What I know is that the article is propaganda which Donna presented as journalism. There's an incendiary quote from Planned Parenthood, nuthin from a pro-life person.

    This is high dis-information.

  9. by oldedude on September 27, 2022 6:48 am
Yea... Planned Parenthood is playing this to the hilt. I'm wondering how they got a felony assault. I think it would be funny if this turned out to be a push, and at most a petty misdemeanor.

This after the pro-abortion movement fire-bombed pro life offices and nothing was said in DC. So "laws for thee and not for me" issue.

You start clicking the boxes, and you prepare to defend yourself and your family. But remember, we're the ones who are paranoid, right? And regardless of how condemn this (Donna did pretty quick), it still ties "them" all together, just like you and I are accused of being ultra MAGAs. Again, the first thing you do is to dehumanize your enemy.

"Disinformation", Hts? LOL! No, I'm afraid that it's just another example of how far anti-abortion extremists will go.

I was recently conversing with British Trump cultists on Facebook (yes, they exist!,) bringing them up to date on the legal trouble Trump and his crime family are in, and they hadn't heard anything about it and doubted it! I think some of them are Q-Anon freaks.

    NYTimes:

Arizona judge reinstates strict abortion ban from 1864

    ***

od: Of course I condemn those acts of violence. I'm no friend of far-left loonies. I hope they catch them and the judge throws the book at them.

I think that a much more effective not to mention safer tactic is to just let the GOP's horribleness speak for itself.

    Donna,

To my high disinformation claim. Read that piece of propaganda you linked to. It's not journalism. Where, for instance, is a comment from the court? Where's a comment from the pro-life community?

As to the title of this thread: Roe's gone. Even RBG believed that it was badly decided, even though she believed abortion should be legal, at least in some circumstances. Passing an abortion amendment is not happnin.

Recalling our previous dialog on abortion. pb's law, which I recall you didn't hate, calls for, essentially, the Mississippi law.

Lindsey Graham's proposed Federal law is even more, uh, liberal providing for legal abortion through 15 weeks. It's comparable to the laws in European nations. I thought that you believe Europe's laws are reasonable.

    What do you think?
