Tears, cheers, high fives, hugs and photos were shared at Friday’s morning’s goodbye, thus ending one chapter and beginning another in a saga that began when the migrants boarded two planes in San Antonio, Tex., with false promises of jobs and housing in Massachusetts.

“Get together everyone — I want to know everyone who helped!” Rafael called out in Spanish as local volunteers hurried to prepare for the departure. “Thank you everyone! Blessings to everyone!”

The migrants spent two nights in temporary shelter at St. Andrew’s Church while state and local officials pondered a longer-term humanitarian response.

"The migrants spent two nights in temporary shelter at St. Andrew’s Church while state and local officials pondered a longer-term humanitarian response..."

...which, no way, was going to be among the 86%+ affluent whites of the Vineyard.

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Some boarded the buses carrying new backpacks, bedding, clothing, and even stuffed animals and soccer balls provided by members of the Island community. Courtesy of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, the migrants received a donation of 30 cell phones Friday morning.

At the departure, many expressed gratitude for their Vineyard welcome, some wearing Go Vineyarders, Harpoon the Whalers shirts given to them by the regional high school.

“The people here are very good people,” said Élio, in Spanish. “It was a nice surprise. You don’t normally see that, as an immigrant. But everyone was so helpful and kind. I don’t know what’s going to happen but everything here was good. It was all good.” ---Vineyard Gazette

    Curt,

No one asked the affluent white elitists on the isle to designate their's a place of sanctuary.

    SANCTUARY!

    The word means stuff!

No one asked them to plaster EVERYONE WELCOME signs all over the island.

    EVERYONE WELCOME
    ...for 44 hours. Bahahahahahahaha

And, how perfectly white elitist to give, not oneself, but stuff.

But, again, what gets me in all this is that Blue MAGAs fiercely defend it!

As I see it, the Martha's Vineyardians stand as a metaphor for all that is essential to white, limousine liberal Blue MAGA progressivism.

With his posts here, Hate gives us a good look at the world through his own eyes. Once you realize that, you can better understand why his posts are filled with so much shameless vindictiveness, insults, and childish name calling. He cannot see the good in people like those on Martha’s Vineyard or the good in what they did with their outpouring of help for those migrants. Like he says, he believes they only wanted to get rid of them and get them off the island as quickly as possible. I imagine he’d describe what they were doing as, to use his favorite word, just a sanctimonious show and those people are really no better than him.

he believes they only wanted to get rid of them and get them off the island as quickly as possible.

pb only knows what they DID.

White progressives are great talk. These progressive white elitists walked a limp version for LESS THAN TWO DAYS!

pb's hoot in all of this is that you think what they did is laudable!

You're, in the end, the hoot!

What about pedophilejoe dropping planes of illegals to cities/ states that don't know they're coming and have no infrastructure or people there to support those getting off? especially children who the coyotes are snatching up for sex slaves. Until you provide an answer for you assisting the child sex-slavery and drug trade, your words are meaningless. This year alone, USBP/ DEA have confiscated enough fentanyl to kill the US three times over. And China is willingly supporting it as you do.

My guess is that po and Donna and isle and Curt have no idea about this.

They only get news from sources that feed their prejudices.

They are high disinformation voters...happy and content to bury their heads in blue sand.

"What about pedophilejoe dropping planes of illegals to cities/states that don't know they're coming and have no infrastructure or people there to support those getting off?" - od

Actually I wrote a post on that about 6 months ago. I don't expect anyone to remember it.

Six months ago when I was researching a story about a planeload of immigrants that landed in the wee hours of the morning at an airport, I think in NY or NJ, I learned that that also happened during Trump's presidency. I'll try to dig up the article.

What's your evidence that those imigrants were dropped off at "cities/states that don't know they're coming and have no infrastructure or people there to support those getting off"?

It sounds to me like that story was resurrected and modified by a Republican strategist in a desperate attempt at damage control after DeSantis's stunt.

Great example of conservative incapability for making equitable comparisons.

The right is trying to make it seem like there's no difference at all between the two state's situations. That there's no difference between a state like Florida that has had huge and long-running dealings with large numbers of immigrants and budgets tens of millions of dollars towards it and is used to and set up to deal with it, and a state (and specifically a tiny town like Martha's Vineyard) unused to anything like what Trump 2.0 did suddenly having to deal with the surprise dumping of dozens of traumatized, terrified and heinously lied to immigrants with no warning or preparation at all.

I didn't look for the post I made about 6 months ago (too tedious w/o a search function) but I did find the article I cited - a piece that appeared in the New York Post on 10/18/21. From that piece:

Planeloads of underage migrants are being flown secretly into suburban New York in an effort by President Biden’s administration to quietly resettle them across the region, The Post has learned.

The charter flights originate in Texas, where the ongoing border crisis has overwhelmed local immigration officials, and have been underway since at least August, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Last week, The Post saw two planes land at the Westchester County Airport, where most of the passengers who got off appeared to be children and teens, with a small portion appearing to be men in their 20s.

Westchester County cops stood by as the passengers — whose flights arrived at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday and 9:52 p.m. Friday — got off and piled into buses.

Some of them were later seen meeting up with relatives or sponsors in New Jersey, or being dropped off at a residential facility on Long Island...

Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, it stopped in Syosset, Long Island, at the campus of MercyFirst, a nonprofit sponsored by the Catholic Sisters of Mercy that provides housing and services for “children and adolescents who are the victims of societal problems,” according to its website...

MercyFirst has a contract to supply the federal government with residential services for “immigrant youth,” according to the site...

As local cops stood by, a group of between 10 and 15 people wearing matching white baseball caps and carrying duffel bags got off the plane and onto a charter bus near a dormant cargo terminal.

After a two-hour ride, the group arrived around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Twin Oaks Academy, a juvenile detention center in the Apalachicola National Forest near Tallahassee, where staffers were waiting to open a gate topped with barbed wire...

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Democratic Westchester County Executive George Latimer tried to downplay the situation as “nothing new.”

This is similar to when HHS, under the Trump administration, housed almost 1,000 migrant children in Westchester — without the County’s prior knowledge or approval,” spokeswoman Catherine Cioffi said in a written statement.

Then, as opposed to now, there was no outcry by anyone.”

The White House insisted Monday that the flights only carry children and teens, and the US Department of Health and Human Services said, “It is our legal responsibility to safely care for unaccompanied children until they can be swiftly unified with a parent or a vetted sponsor.”

Our Office of Refugee Resettlement facilitates travel for the children in its custody to their family or sponsors across the country,” HHS spokesman Jorge Silva said.

In recent weeks, unaccompanied children passed through the Westchester airport en route to their final destination to be unified with their parents or vetted sponsor.”

Perhaps my fondest memories of the old forum is po's, of all people's, regular assertions that others inability to make equitable comparisons.

It's likely that, with his last breath, pb'll chortle, smirk, utter, " Equitable comparisons," and as his last breath leaves his lungs, be heard to exclaim, "bahahahahah..."

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh.
