With a winner rather than a loser now leading our country good things happen! 👍

"Yesterday, Honda and LG Energy Solution announced they would spend $4.4 billion to construct a new battery plant in the U.S. to join the plants General Motors is building in Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee; the ones Ford is building in Kentucky and Tennessee; the one Toyota is building in North Carolina; and the one Stellantis is building in Indiana. The plants are part of the switch to electric vehicles. According to auto industry reporter Neal E. Boudette of the New York Times, they represent “one of the most profound shifts the auto industry has experienced in its century-long history.”

Today, Kentucky governor Andy Beshear (D) announced that Kentucky has secured more than $8.5 billion for investment in the production of electric vehicle batteries, which should produce more than 8,000 jobs in the EV sector. “Kentuckians will literally be powering the future,” he said.

Also today, First Solar, the largest solar panel maker in the U.S., announced that it would construct a new solar panel plant in the Southeast, investing up to $1 billion. It credited the Inflation Reduction Act with making solar construction attractive enough in the U.S. to build here rather than elsewhere. First Solar has also said it will upgrade and expand an existing plant in Ohio, spending $185 million.

Corning has announced a new manufacturing plant outside Phoenix, Arizona, to build fiber-optic cable to help supply the $42.5 billion high-speed internet infrastructure investment made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act. AT&T will also build a new fiber internet network in Arizona.
The CHIPS and Science Act is spurring investment in the manufacturing of chips in the U.S. Earlier this month, Micron announced a $40 billion investment in the next eight years, producing up to 40,000 new jobs. Qualcomm has also committed to investing $4.2 billion in chips from the New York facility of GlobalFoundries. Qualcomm says it intends to increase chip production in the U.S. by 50% over the next five years. In January, Intel announced it would invest $20 billion, and possibly as much as $100 billion, in a chip plant in Ohio.

This investment is part of a larger trend in which U.S. companies are bringing their operations back to the U.S. Last week, a report by the Reshoring Initiative noted that nearly 350,000 U.S. jobs have come home this year. The coronavirus pandemic, Russia’s war on Ukraine, and China’s instability were the push to bring jobs home, while the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act were the pull." *

And these are the kind of things Trump, the stable genius, promised but couldn't deliver. It was the old, stuttering, feeble minded Joe Biden who was the one who had the smarts and ability to make it happen !!!

But the more astute among us knew who was the real feeble minded one...and it wasn't Joe ! 🍻

Trump was trying to stabilize the economy after obomber shot it through the 8 gates of hell.

California just put a ban on charging your car. Think about that. They need 5.5 GW of power just to handle what is needed now. WTF are they going to do after "everyone" has electronic cars? Sht electricity?

And the batteries are stupid non recyclable. WTF? So are the windmill blades.

We won't buy EV because when we really need it (hurricane because we're all going to die because of climate change), we can't sit in traffic for 5-6 hours in an EV. Then it takes us 8 hours to recharge. Meanwhile, where worse off than if we were home. We have no protection and have none of the assets we need.

Same thing in CO during snow storm, or even on the weekends up I70. One charge wouldn't make us to Georgetown (about half way to skiing).

What do you suggest? I mean in real tangible, known answers.

    OD,
There is not a ban on charging electric cars in California.

Californians are being advised not to charge their electric cars between 4 and 9pm from Wednesday to Tuesday due to the excessive heatwave. If it isn't obvious, it's because those are peak air conditioning hours and they want to avoid overwhelming the electric power grid.

"Electric Car Batteries Lasting Longer Than Predicted Delays Recycling Programs"
(Forbes)“Almost all of the [electric car] batteries we’ve ever made are still in cars,” said Nissan executive Nic Thomas.

“And we’ve been selling electric cars for 12 years,” he added.

The worry was once what the world would do with millions of spent electric vehicle (EV) batteries after they no longer powered the cars and vans they propelled. But this glut of EV batteries has not yet materialized—Nissan has been making the electric Leaf since 2010—and automotive industry initiatives to recycle the lithium-ion cells bundled in EV batteries are slow to go mainstream in Europe and the U.S.

92% Reuse of Raw Materials in Battery Pack
Our battery factories have already begun implementing an in-house, closed-loop recycling system that will ensure 100% of Tesla batteries received are recycled and up to 92% of their raw materials are used.

So you're saying that we need to buy the cars in order to understand the cars.

You know of course, China owns the metal mines that all the circuits come from. So we're playing in to the hands of the Chinese and boosting their economy. I remain steadfast that the cars are worthless for long distance travel.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god that is just so stupid!!! And you're just so wrong!

Obama did no such thing. It's asinine to think he did.

And there are only seven gates of hell?

You're just so stupid and wrong all the time! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Curt- the fact remains that CA can't support the present use in it's grid. Yes they're "suggesting" people not use it, but that tells me that newsome is too stupid to actually run a state. He "demands" things you Liberal World Order freaks want, but doesn't have the infrastructure to support it. AND CA is closing down a nuclear power plant, making electric vehicles even MORE stupid.

The dims feel that giving China the business is a better thing than giving the US business. obomber taxed the manufacturing jobs which made it cheaper to send jobs anywhere but the US. Trump brought them back. pedophile joe came in and started sending jobs overseas. Oh, the chip manufacturing was for investments, which only made the rich richer.

It's a terrible tragedy how stupid olde dude has let himself become over the years.

The way po and Donna abuse OD is shameful. Absolutely shameful.

  9. by oldedude on September 1, 2022 12:48 pm
I just consider the sources. Po has zero self esteem so she has to mock others to make herself feel better. I just let her do it. I do feel sad that she doesn't have enough self esteem to make it without belittling others. It's kind of like the middle-school girl that made her way in to the "in" crowd by mocking the smart people, and others far better than her.

It was also a jest regarding he's under the 7th level.
