A group of House Democrats introduced a bill on Tuesday to enact term limits for Supreme Court justices, arguing that the move will “restore legitimacy and independence to the nation’s highest court.”

The legislation, titled the Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization Act, would authorize the president to nominate Supreme Court justices every two years — in the first and third years after a presidential election. The justices who have been on the court the longest will be moved to senior status first.

Am I wrong? This'd require an Amendment.

"The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour..." US Constitution, Article III, Section 1

Terms for House members, Senators and the President and Veep are defined in Articles I and II.

In any event, this ain't happnin in this Congress.

Again, this is something the dims don't understand. It's like dealing with a three year old that doesn't get their way. "But life's not fair!" Yeah. No sht. Good thing you're not an exception...

There were specific reasons the founders did NOT term limits. I think they still hold true today.

I disagree with those who advocate for term-limits on Supreme Court justices. In fact, I oppose term limits on elected office including the presidency.

    We agree on SCOTUS.
I have always believe that the voters will do the right thing to serve their needs. In the past couple of years though, I'm watching how many get elected to congress and become millionaires in their first couple of terms. I'm not disagreeing, I'm trying to figure this out personally. So this isn't a disagreement, it's an "I'm not sure and may be changing my mind on this" issue.

I like placing term limits on Supreme Court justices, but I think you're right, Hts, that it would require a Constitutional amendment, which won't happen. And as you said, it won't be passed by Congress either.
